    I like this pairing block technique, good for precision. I've cut more hinges by hand than I care to remember, but never thought to support the chisel like that.

    Great instructional video. Thank you. One question. Is the hinge placed at exactly 90 degrees the the edge of the door on every hinge type?

      Yes this is important otherwise your hinge will bind and virtually destroy itself. If you notice the "knuckle" of the butt hinge should run parallel with the edge of your door. Good luck 👍

    For mortice depth, lay hinge flat - place chisel against hinge and wrap some masking tape around chisel, this takes away depth guesswork.
