I like how Brenna maintains a rather permanent smile while speaking. It is quite a rare and positive trait.
Some people find their brains freezing up unable to think clearly when they smile. Obviously Brenna has found a way to overcome that challenge.
How i wish everyone could develop that ability!

One golden rule being an air crew in SQ is “ Comply first and Complain later “ The old saying .. Customers / passengers are always right ! I’m in my 60’s now, I was an SQ girl in the mid 70’s☺️Training was touch indeed 😅

Brenna's story was very refreshing. If we can learn anything from this lady - it is to keep going no matter what. Take opportunities along the way & be adaptable because most things in life are temporary - stemming from some relationships, jobs etc.
Ah and on another spectrum: she portrayed the side of a LDR; how challenging it is to keep communicating. Both sides have to believe that it will work out. If one side stops putting in the effort, most often not the whole idea of a LDR will fall apart.
Here's a kudos to all LDR couples out there, who gets only stronger through adversity & patience.

Hi Brenna you can combine both! Your clown side and your mellow side.
And clowns are actually very respectable professions in some countries, like the US.
In fact they have a degree course to become a medical clown! Yes medical clowns work in hospitals.
Because when a person is hospitalised they go through some amount of physical and emotional stress.
So medical clowns are hired to entertain patients to lessen their stress
Some studies have shown that medical clowns can be a good substitute for painkillers.
Because when one is happy, physical pain feels much less of a problem.
Painkillers come with various unwanted side effects. But clowns? No negative side effects! So imagine the benefit they are doing for the patients!
I talked about combining your clown side and your mellow side. Heres how.
When Leah asks a question, you can give your clown answer first.
Then both of you have a chance to laugh together.
After the laughing then you give the longer and more well-informed answer.
It can take a bit of practice. In the beginning one can be overly tickled by the clown answer and lose one's train of thought.
Thats ok, take as long as you need to stabilize the excitement and then can even ask your host "what was i saying." Thats ok.
Then after that then carry on.
Of course it depends on what kind of interview you are going for also. But interviews with Leah definitely ok to do that. (Clown answer first, then laugh, then give well-informed answer thereafter)
I believe that Leah will appreciate the chance to laugh also.

@@brennasim9167 That's very well possible, i was in an LDR for 5 years, lived for 24 yrs in SG from 1994-2018 and saw my girlfriend often of course, but after moving to the netherlands 5 years prior to our break up, indeed communicating through WA was difficult, a lot of misunderstandings. And also, I am a person that didn't write enough in her eyes. Mind you, I knew her since 1997! So, we were like 21 years together, broke a short while in between then come back together. Thinking back we should have broke up earlier if after this long period we were not yet married (I didn't have a stable job as a scientist in SG and later with other jobs could not give her the stability though she herself had her own flat and a good job till retirement in early 2022). I do feel guilty sometimes to have wasted her time , she is older than me though, .........so perhaps, in Brenna Sim's case it was better to break up very early if one could foresee that it doesn't work out, anyway, Friendship is what lasts, Love disappears in a few years

13:48 I was as confused as Leah by her story.... she joined SQ when she has alr broken up with her bf and only visited US 6 months into flying so how is she salvaging her r/s...? And when she decided to meet the guy, they hang out as... friends??

    • @rayroar1117
      @rayroar1117 Před 3 lety +27

Hi Grace i think this is what happened based on my understanding.
So Brenna told Edward that she was looking for jobs in America. But if she cannot find any she still had SQ job as a backup plan.
Then Edward sent her a text encouraging her to let go of the relationship (to break up). Because Edward did not want Brenna to sacrifice so much for the relationship.
So Edward had already said he wanted to breakup. But Brenna has not given up. And Brenna does not hate Edward. He did not cheat on her or anything.
In fact he wanted her to break up for her own good so she need not sacrfice so much.
So important point is Brenna acknowledge Edward's advice to breakup but some part of her has not given up.
She did feel a sense of loss though and maybe a bit rejected, thats why she cried for 3 days.
So after she got into SQ she casually told Edward that she had a flight to New York in December.
Brenna acknowledged that California to New York is 6 hours by plane so she did not demand or expect Edward to be there. But just in case he happened to be in New York then maybe they could meet.
To her suprise he chose to fly 6 hours to meet her, and at the same time to meet his other friends also.
Edward is obviously a very considerate young man and knew how much breaking up could hurt.
So he did not want Brenna to fall back too hard for him when they met in New York.
So he probably was disciplined to keep things light and friendly in New York. Nothing too romantic that would cause Brenna to feel too attached.
So that was probably what Brenna meant by hanging out as friends. Keeping things light and friendly so they would not end up getting too attached to each other.
In the photo you saw Brenna hugging Edward quite lovingly.
So although they were hanging out as friends, there were still some physical traits about Edward that Brenna appreciated, and made her want to hug him.
The point is they made an effort to be disciplined and not get too attached to each other while in New York.
And now they are still on good terms they are still friends!

Haha this is exactly what Leah and Brenna meant!
My "long" post actually less than 400 words and was only sufficient to explain a small part of what Brenna had shared.
But it can still feel a bit long to write and to read.
Imagine having to send many of such texts to each other in an LDR to ensure that the other person has enough information to understand what you mean.
That is why LDR can be difficult. In person communication would feel much easier.
