I definitely get the math here, i do think the heavily overlooked part of jars is simply the fact that you have to fill them more often, so you have to wake up for more days. I do like that with kegs i can be more ‘lazy’ and still make about the same when using ancient fruit.
yeah, i think thats a huge part as to why the community likes kegs more, theyre more hands off and carefree kind of money makers but if you have the extra free time, which is pretty much everyday since the game goes on forever, id say use the jars :D
@@Purplex08 in my new farm I play with my gf we decided to just put starfruit and kegs on ginger island, as this time we don't want to go there too often. It's been nice. Our main farm is jar heavy, we're doing strawberries and fruits from plants but I need to check the math to see how much we loosing by not doing just cranberries.
@ruimedina49 jars are very worth it for any fruit, but cranberries do tend to be the best remember, any crop which gives multiple harvests and/or multiple per harvest is amazing! so that means: spring: Potatoes or Strawberries summer: blueberries OR starfruit (its just amazing) autumn: cranberries winter: forage and powdermelons but all in all, any crop is good!

this is my first playthru and i just made 2 kegs mid winter (im a broke boy) and my pumpkins from fall have all been used in jars for 660g each, i put like 24 of em in the extra room in my house and so far its been great for money, kegs are a lil expensive rn since i didnt prepare like i should have since i didnt know what i was doing, but they are great, i heard the talk about mushrooms with the mushroom log and stuff i just havent spent the time lookin into it since im going into mid ish game, so kegs will be spamed thruout my farm lol
yes, coal is a bit expensive but keep in mind you can buy coal very easily with little to no setup whereas oak resin is something you both cannot buy and have to wait for/set up a farm to get tons of, so some people prefer just shelling out the money to buy some coal from clint
@@Purplex08 I guess I just hate buying shit from Clint. But Kegs are the only use for Oak Resin, and it's pretty easy to get a ton of it for free, at any point.
Since this is out after 1.6 jars lose out to dehydrators. You lose out on some gold but can process 15 items in the time it take for a preserve jar to process 1. Dehydrated mushrooms are also a great source of money from any tree farm through until ginger island is full of ancient fruit. After the green rain event my mushroom/tree farm generates 10-15k a day on 12 dehydrators and its easy to toss in blueberries or cranberries if i don't have special mushrooms to process.
I have too much to do in the game. Restocking machines each 2.5 days is a pain. Endgame is all about starfruit and ancient fruit. So once a week machine like kegs is my preferred choice. But i still build some jars.
Now with 1.6 my favorite early game machine is the dehydrator. You only need a very few of them (i usually only build 20) and is great to get rid of blueberries and cranberries. The 2 fruits i do in year 1.
for average gold per day i used the official stardew wiki, and for the time taken for multiple crops i added the time taken together and multiplied for the mount of day 6.25 x 3 = times for keg to process 3 items

For me personally I play the game to have fun and work on my farm not to sleep through days and earn money, but I get your point

It feels good to load up a few hundred blueberries into a hopper next to a keg and know that that‘s just gonna keep on making money

Kegs are great for long growing crops like starfruit, pumpkin, and ancient fruit, but not worth it for rapid crops
yeah, kegs are much much more worth it for high selling crops, but everything else should be shoved straight into a jar

Preserve jars are way more expensive. They require 8 coal, while kegs only require 2. And coal is way more scarce than ore and shit.
