  • Apple Valley's downtown has changed a lot in the nearly 50 years that the city has been around.
In this video, we take a drive through all of the downtown retail and commercial areas, starting at "Time Square" (formerly Apple Valley Center) and driving through all four main corners of the city surrounding the intersection of Highway 77 (Cedar Avenue) and County Road 42.
We'll see the old locations of Penny's/Hauser's supermarkets, Apple Rollerway, Rainbow Foods, Southport Field, Apple Valley Readymix, and much, much more.
Join me for a warm September drive through good ol' Apple Valley, Minnesota and we'll see how the town looks in 2022!

You didn't stop at the stop sign at 2:15, or 4:09, or 13:50, or 14:07

Our family moved from South Minneapolis to Apple Valley in July, 1969. At that time, these were the only businesses at 42 & Cedar:
    - Penny's grocery store
    - Snyder Bros. Drug
    - Dairy Queen
    - Valley Chrysler/Plymouth (probably sold more farm implements than cars!)
Cedric's clothing store and the RCA TV dealer behind Snyder Bros. arrived shortly thereafter. I think there was also a Standard gas station @ 147th & Cedar (?)

That's so funny - as you can see the town has gotten so much bigger than it was back in the 80's when that professional building was the tallest building in town!

Cowboy Jacks and Bogart's are my spots, Brah! I still enjoy pushing carts, unassisted, for exercise every now and then.
