It is not an attack on me as a person or as a UX Designer. It's just that the solution I proposed is not the right solution at the moment. So, I'll go back in there and iterate and will try to come up with a different solution that both I and my peer would agree upon".

As someone with autism, interviews are absolute hell. I've been studying tips and watching videos like I have an exam that's worth 90% of my grade for my imaginary class. Determining the hidden meanings behind these questions is incredibly difficult.

    • @jakejason4333

everyone struggles with this. You dont need to be autistic to be bad at interviews. Its not normal to ask a question and expect an answer that doesnt actually answers the question.

I never thought about asking the employer to walk me through how projects normally go with the team. I can see how that would be pretty beneficial to see if you would work well if the process and people involved. I can see now that when people ask you a question they are not just asking you to answer it but also to expand upon it and respond with a question of your own.

Main takeaway is recruiters donc known how to ask a question in order to get the answer they want... Maybe it would be nice to have a video translating questions ? "Walk me through a particular project" translated into "What was your implication in this particular project?" The way it's presented in this video makes job seeker feel like they don't understand questions properly when really it's the recruiters that are not clear enough / Competent enough

Thank you for this precious knowledge because it provides insight on essential details that are very important. I'm a bit curious about point n4 where Dee made the case of admitting a mistake, which is true and important to take, however, mentioning you were ready to launch the product and find problems in the process at the very last might be a red flag for those interviewing. This is because those hiring you might interpret it as a lack of work quality while doing UX research or prototyping, especially when applying with big companies that value time as their most precious resource.

Regarding the question 2. I do agree that the two sentences state almost the same but the "...this is something where I feel like I can bring a lot to your team" part make it complete different in my opinion. I would understand that that candidate "can bring a lot" whereas in reality (s)he cannot because doesn't have enough experience, which is precisely the real intention, gain it.
Could you elaborate further about this expectation vs reality mismatching

The amount of "inclusive" language in this video has sent my brain spinning so many times. Thank you for making my life harder.

All of the tips are quite useful. I am wondering if there is any course targeting for solving while boarding or design challenge problems?

@@careerfoundry yes! I’d like to know how to tackle whiteboard problems in interviews and how to move to the interaction design skill to the next level in my work. Thank you
