Thanks for the run down on larger budgets and what it buys in PI. I don’t think I’ve seen that on another Vlog. Yes, would love to see the house. In the US, in a high cost area, $7K after taxes is maybe just enough to get by. There are lots of retirees in their 60’s and 70’s with a pension, social security and 401k draws that are pulling in $7k plus. PI would be a good alternative to just getting by. The big question is health care - not just cost but availability and quality. Medicare doesn’t cover foreign medical expenses.
anything over $3,000/mo budget is luxury living in the Philippines. You can rent a really nice condo or house for $1,000/mo. Just set aside $300/mo for healthcare as "reserve". That leaves you $1,700/mo for food, play, car pmt, etc.
This is what I would call an average budget for anyone wanting to live a first world lifestyle. Once you dip below about $4000 a month you are giving something up that would be viewed as normal in a first world country.

@@PaulWorldZoom - Just to be clear I am not trying to denigrate anyone's lifestyle or happiness point. I just want people to understand they aren't going to live an average first world middle class lifestyle in a developing country on less than $4000. If you look up the average U.S. home size it's 2480 square feet. Average number of cars is 1.88 basically 2 cars. Just paying for the two average cars at 50,000 each and keeping them for the average 8 years equals over $1000 a month not including interest, insurance, gas, tires, minor repairs etc. The rent in a middle sized PH city for a 2480 square foot, 4 bedroom house, 2 car garage, full AC with a half acre lot is going to run at least $2000 a month. At this point you are already at $3000 and have food, medical, utilities, entertainment, and emergency savings left. Many people who move to a developing country do so because they want to live better than they can in their own country. This means a maid, gardener, driver etc. (more expenses) I can personally live off of around $500 a month in Mexico. However this would only be possible because I own a home, and I would be living a developing country standard of living. And I save plenty of money here so when I return home I'll have enough money to buy a Tacoma truck cash, all I have will be rental apt. This guy is over spending, buying property you do not own is a death sentence, buying a ford Raptor here is ridiculous, I drive a multi cab I bought for 3,000 USD cash. I'm very careful on how I spend my money.

I think you meant to say his health coverage amount is per year, not month. Philhealth only has fixed prices and I have the same 2 he has..... that is the rate per year..... and to be honest, it's not health care coverage as westerners see it, but rather, health care discount... and not much at that but better than nothing.....but barely. Also, I don't know anyone who brings in the cash he does and still gets an auto loan in the Philippines..... the interest rates suck bad and they don't allow early pay off unless you are willing to pay the interest that would have been owed for the original life of the loan......aka no consumer protection laws here lol. Still, good vlog, keep them coming. I personally find it hard to spend over 4500 per month on a regular basis. Also, the 10k pocket money for the lady sounds about right. My wife and I both do the same. No questions asked.....we both get 10k php per month to do what we want.
I think the Dude is drawing from a monthly income from social security, pension, dividend portfolio or rental. He's probably keeping his cash savings or stock portfolio intact and letting his monthly income stream take care of his expenses where his monthly car payment is factored in. I will be doing the same thing with same budget when I retire and not touch my dividend portfolio and emergency funds
I live in two countries... 7K is my mortgage, property tax, home owners insurances, and car insurance in the U.S. If I spent 7K in Quezon City I'd be named "King of Metro Manila."

I would subscribe if you talked faster with less words. Your topic is great!
Thanks Steve, made me laugh. I appreciate you. I will work on it
You can adjust the playback speed on you tube videos. Bump it up to 1.5 speed and he will be still easy to understand. Seriously try it.
I was curious to know what part of the US you were from? I was thinking it must be from the South, like me. I'm from Houston, Texas originally. I like your videos.
I'm an American living in the Philippines, my budget is 1 bedroom fully furnished apt with free Wifi and cable, free water for 40,000 pesos per month, new building in Valencia, electric is @ 2000 pesos, food I spend @ 150 USD per month and I'm single, I have a Filipina lady whom I text when I need some romance that's at 2000 pesos per pop.
Hi Indianapolis Indiana. Thanks so much
Guys relax. That’s not a lot of money. That’s an average pension in the United States big city. I know a couple of people with a 12k a month pension
Very nice. Thanks for
Another excellent topic Paul, keep it coming.
I must say you are “thick skinned” haha, we (people) in the medical industry have heard it all. We have been named/called ***¥€** ahaha.
Thanks, yes 20 years in the hospital will do that 👍👍 I really enjoy the spicy comments. The one about my white running socks not being a good look was awesome. I think about that each run. Thanks for the comments
I think the danger is way closer than his ex in US........people don't build compounds there for no reason
Haha yes. I live in one 👍👍
Great information Edward, I plan to do a video on available health insurance here but haven’t yet 👍👍 I appreciate the information. I didn’t know that
I think the Dude is drawing from a monthly income from social security, pension, dividend portfolio or rental. He's probably keeping his cash savings or stock portfolio intact and letting his monthly income stream take care of his expenses where his monthly car payment is factored in. I will be doing the same thing with same budget when I retire and not touch my dividend portfolio and emergency funds
She must be gorgeous!
Probably. So many are. Thanks for commenting
I live in two countries... 7K is my mortgage, property tax, home owners insurances, and car insurance in the U.S. If I spent 7K in Quezon City I'd be named "King of Metro Manila."
Haha, so true
Poor guy. I spend $8000 US a month. Middle class. I just don’t associate with poor expats.
The old saying goes, “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.”
Haha Yes
I've been feeling pretty confident that I can live nicely in the Philippines on $2k a month, but after hearing this...makes me wonder
No, no. I really feel 2k is enough
I’ll retire with that income but $4000 will be my limit by choice. I’m a cautious guy. Besides I want to travel back to USA three times a year.
Great plans. Congratulations 👍👍
More on this and his lifestyle expat.
Will do Charles. Have a great holiday
I have 2.1 million saved. Would it be enough to retire in the Philippines?
Oh, absolutely yes
I will still have to pay here in usa 2700 to shut door and go will leave me about 3400 there no one is buying homes here markets gonna crash so I do winters there
I understand completely. Good plan
If you do not partake in gogo bars then anything over 3k is a lavish budget in the Philippines....
Agreed. Thanks very much
Interesting video, but needs to be sped up a little bit.
Yes it was an old one. Hope the new ones are better
Good video.
Thanks Mike
Wonder if the extended family is going to hang around if that budget takes a hit and goes down to nipa hut level.
Probably not 👍👍👍👍 Thanks for writing
Nope the family will pack up and go, they will also take his wife with them, so he's Kaput. Here in the Philippines if have no money no one will love you. Maybe the story dogs and cats if you're lucky. You can meet a Filipina girl and she'll tell you your handsome and rich, next day she's yours if the price is right and her family.
Thanks. You mentioned some around $4k. Would love to hear about it. Thanks!
Will do David. Thank you
New sub. I enjoyed your vlog with the Pes. I plan to move to Valencia ASAP from SW Florida
Thanks Frank, welcome to Dumaguete. I think you’ll like Valencia. It is a little far out for me. I go most Sundays for the weekend market. Nice people. Foreigner Central for the area. Thanks for watching
After 40 winters in SE Florida, I plan on moving to Valencia too. I hope we don't set a trend as I wouldn't want the rest of the Floridians following us there :]
@@johnminichielli8957 you're right John. We don't want to fill the place up with Florida man. Lol.

They certainly can. Thanks for that 🙏🙏

No, only service related injuries or illness

That's a nice budget. I'm sure this guy has savings left over from his retirement income
I would think so 👍👍👍
Can you ask if he has plans/money set aside for his kids schooling? Is there an international elementary/secondary school available? If so, what cost?
Good question, I don’t really know. The international schools here are not that expensive. Usually less than $100 US monthly. They do have some high end schools in Manila
In 3 years I am coming over and will have 8300 USD a month fully retired. I will be renting a condo and never gonna get caught up...These dudes were never in the game in the U.S and it shows.
Sounds like a great plan. $8300 is way more than enough. Fantastic. Do you plan to travel a lot? Best of luck
Sucker born every day. I've live philippines 15yrs 1st wife died so forced to sell my house. Get a fresh start away from late wife family plus unable to own property as a american citizen. I currently live great secure subdivision rent 35k living a great life with new wife go out whenever we want have fun . My pension and social about 4k .total expenses about 2k a month. That's with giving her parents a little money only $200 the other children give as well. Granted inflation here prices are up. But so far only spend $2000 living a good life. He needs to go over a budget sure there's houses in this subdivision close to 200k pesos big houses maybe he has whole family living with him. But he needs to check his money see if she's sending money to another person ( real boyfriend or husband) don't laugh it happens here. He's a real sugar daddy for that family. Very sad
This is an eye opening post. Thanks so much for the information and warning.
Glad you are well
I watch Pea interview you!
Thanks
$6,000 + budget? In Dumaguete? That is an insane amount of money to spend in Dumaguete... Its smore believable if he lives in Metro Manila or he is supporting 3 families #LOL
Yes Makati and Ayala are expensive. I think the $1,000 truck payment and land contract purchase adds a lot
$300,000 - $350,000 PHP monthly budget - shouldn't be difficult to "Budget".
Good one Daniel. I could do it 💪
Who can afford that? $6000 WFT?
Normal in the US. A lot for PI
I think if I had $6000 monthly budget to spend it would not be in the Philippines. I like to get value for my money. I am thinking if I spend much beyond $3000 a month I would just be wasting that money.
Great point. I tend to agree
Liked your video with the Pea. What’s your opinion on getting dental implants Thailand or Philippines and the best place . Thank you
Very available and reasonable here. You don’t need BKK for that. Thanks
I recommend Dr. Shirley Teehankee, St. Lukes, BGC.
$200 USA to a woman you “ love “ is extremely selfish.
I would never treat my “ family “ so low if I have a high income
That is for her family, or whatever else she wants to do
Cool video, it helps me understand more about living well there.
Did he buy the Ford Raptor off a car lot in Philipines, or already own it and shipped it over from the US?
He bought off a car lot in Dumaguete. I think he had to wait 3 months before it was delivered. When I searched, same problem. Not much available. Like 10 cars only on a lot
@@PaulWorldZoom Wow, thank you for this great reply! I always wondered about buying a car over there...

I don’t get where you say a wealthy man is someone making $6 to $7k a month. That is affluent but not even close to being wealthy. Even if it is in the Philippines. Having to put in ac in a 90,000 peso a month house tells me he’s getting ripped off. A wealthy man does not borrow money for a vehicle. Most CZcamsrs don’t cover this topic I enjoyed it.
Hi Arnold, I agree 100%. I would think is income is significantly more than 7K monthly, but he didn’t share and I didn’t ask. Great thoughts
Correct! That is what I thought. He should have bought a car CASH! However, he probably is the type who likes to help the local economy paying at least 13-17% interest. Good luck to all.
Me thinks once ya get over $5000 plus a month ya lose track of monies or not bothered although your visa bill always is a bit of a shocker. Does this kind of money put a target on your back for kidnapping?
Only in Mindanao. Not Davao or General Santos, but a few problem areas
@World Zoom I think I would have a hard time sleeping at night worried about (armed) robbery if I lived in a fancy house with a new truck out front. Would need to hire security and have some big dogs.
