I mentioned it was Single Pot still, technically it is not because if the mixture of the column still whiskey. Sorry for the flub!
Was gonna comment on the fact that it wasn't Single Pot Still....but...credit where it's due...you spotted the mistake. Love the channel btw.
To be perfectly honest? One of my patrons noticed it during the early release. I had it in my notes to point that fact out but as you may have noticed I added a little bit more during the "overall" section that I forgot and I meant to mention that. I'm glad you're enjoying the channel :)
Bill:
I just picked up another bottle of Power's Gold Label and I LOVE the Spice from the Unmalted Barley. Here in Brooklyn it was $38 and change with tax at BQE Discount Liquors. A great introduction to Irish Whiskey and it is Non-Chill-filtered. Over Christmas, I recommended it to my best friend from childhood whose only experience is with Jameson. I know he will taste the difference.
SLÁINTE
Mike
I just discovered Powers and I love it ...honey, apple, oak, butter cookie...
You nailed it once again with your thoughts. As good an entry-level Irish whiskey as you'll get, and at a great price too. A staple for me. At the other end of the Power's range, the John's Lane is fantastic. Sláinte.
I am sipping on a glass of Powers as I watched your show; this is gonna be a favorite! Definitely better than Jameson!
Good whiskey, always liked it, very popular in ireland
I tried this in Dublin recently. It's a typical smooth a sweet Irish whiskey and I liked it. It's a simple sipper that has similarities to the standard Jameson.
With the price of gasoline these days, I don't think they will be adding it to whiskey anymore lol. Thanks for this review Bill. Cheers
Lol good point
Completely agree that the finish makes Powers different from most other Irish whiskies. I actually find the finish a little bitter and not particularly pleasant, but the whiskey itself stands up for itself. I still go back to it from time to time.
I have never found the Gold Label, but I have had the Signature edition a few times and have enjoyed it a lot as a daily dram...
I was disappointed with Irish whiskey at first because it didn't taste more like scotch, but then I heard how dumb that sounded, lol. To me, the ones I've tried come across as lighter and crisper, almost like a lager compared to an ale. I've found I like them at the start of an evening and maybe finish with a little scotch. My favorite Irish so far has been Kinsale, a Total Wine direct spirit. It has a little depth to it even. Will definitely try the Powers!
Bill, Great history and background info. It adds a lot to the review. Just noticed this one today at the store! Sounds very nice! But went for the last bottle of Glenfarclas 12 at $47 that usually is $60 to 80. But Scotland is just across the border from Ireland, right? ; )
Thanks Bill. Great review.
Just grabbed a bottle today. It was only $29 at the store down the street, and I'm stoked about trying it.
I bought one today for $29 99. Enjoying it right now. This is some really good stuff.
Awesome! I do enjoy the regular Jameson. I’ll get me one of these too cheers 🥃
Whoo my favorite go to Irish Whiskey! It's always goes too quick in my collection 😅
I fiend of mine was given an old bottle this. It was like drinking sweet tea.
Hey Bill I think you meant "subsistence farming", but that is a mouthful to say esp on camera,. Great review as always!
Sure did! Had it in my notes as that but just flubbed the line. Thanks!
👍
I actually picked up banana bread on the nose of this one. Great dram. Definitely will repurchase.
Powers 3 swallows and johns Lane are great whiskeys!!!
Hey, I know this month is for irish whiskeys however,I was wondering when you were planning to get around to those GOT releases?
I'll be doing all of the Game of Thrones bottles during the first two weeks of April
Great dram for the price.
CZcams screwed up my notifications. I thought you stopped uploading.
Bummer
Long time ago Jameson and Powers were the two most popular Irish whiskey due to sells. Powers was a bit more ahead of Jameson. Although big corporations started buying independent distilleries and had decided to make Jameson as the brand for Irish whiskey all over the world. So here in Russia everybody knows/likes Jameson. Nobody has a clue about Powers. I don't think it's even sold here.
As far as Power's goes, so far John's Lane is my favorite. Thoughts?
Out of my price range. Three Swallow is nice, but a little higher than I’m willing to pay locally.
What’s your number 1# Irish whiskey under $50
Not feeling this whiskey at all. Generally a fan of Irish whiskey, with Bushmills original being my go to. This whiskey has a nice nose, mellow butter and creamy almost, but the palate is very harsh, and the finish is empty. Got it as a gift so not regretting the purchase, but I would not buy again.
I'm bi-curious. 🤣
Story is useless
Depends why you watch my videos
I watch for the whiskey 🥃 reviews 🤓
There are lots of people who smell and taste whiskey. I like to set myself apart by doing the history too
The Whiskey Dic No disrespect intended... I think you have the best whiskey reviews on CZcams. You are also oddly accessible. You reply back promptly.. cheers 🥃
