I don’t know why you would ever assume someone else is playing guitar on a Ren track. Or playing anything. It’s Ren. The mad man who does everything and is obsessive about every little detail to make his vision into something he can share with the world. And this song definitely paints a picture.
If "things" are dissolving essentially they are falling apart, agree? WTBS...the diazepam makes 'THINGS feel like they AREN'T dissolving". Like everything'll be alright as long as one feels the way one does when it kicks in. That's my take. Great reaction and choice of songs.

Diazepam, is my favourite ourite of Rens from that album, perhaps over all even. His voice is truly captivating. Laced with interesting tones and inflections. It's masterful song writing showcased so beautifully. It's one of my ho to recommendations along with Ready for you, Hold on and Heretic.

I take the not dissolving line to mean that while he feels good while the drug kicks in, it doesn't actually solve any of the problems that the good feeling hides. When he comes down, he's just right back where he started.

Love this song! I close my eyes when i listen to this song and it takes me to another place. I feel a calmness as i start to chill out and relax, as if my meds for nerve damage are just starting to kick in and take the edge off. Another song that gives me a similar feeling is the song - One Better Day - by Madness. Great reaction video as always. Thanks Izzy

All the music on Ren music videos are Ren, including this guitar solo(unless of course he uses a sample). Ren can play excellent guitar and switches up his style if he wants. He does this song on a live stream, jamming away. I think he did this in 2020-2021. The Big Push could be either Ren or Romain on guitar solos. TBP original "Icarus" which has a big guitar solo at the end is Ren as well. He is shredding it up in their music video.

Wonderful how his lyrics leave interpretation open to the listener. I feel the dissolving part ties into the rotting, molding of his body when he's not taking the diazepam. Overindulging isn't about taking too much, it's about taking it at all. He hates that it's a crutch. Anyhow... it's just a thought.

Ren made such beautiful music while he was so sick and on all the drugs. I take opioids on prescription from my pain management Doctor. If I don’t I will be curled up in a ball crying from the severe pain. Now I manage to make the day and even enjoy it. I’ve never taken Diazepam though. Thanks Izzy
In a few years we will probably find out Diazepam and Benzos in general have effects far greater on the brain then what's being let known and lawsuits will start. Just like opioids, it can be necessary to take, but when you try to go off of them, the withdrawals are horrible. Going off of some Benzos cold turkey can cause deadly seizures. I was on Clonazepam for 15 years and not once did the shrink or family doctor tell me the dangers of it. I found out the hard way when I tried to go off of them. Current day, they are starting to give warnings.

When you hear echoes of Romain's playing style, bear in mind that Ren and Romain shared a flat for 6 years between fall 2016 and fall 2022. They used their flat as a music studio, and they informally collaborated a lot by bouncing lyrics and music off each other. When he wrote and produced "Diazepam" in fall 2018, he'd already been living with Romain for 2 years, and they'd been in The Big Push together for about a year.

It’s funny you bring up opioids. I wonder how he escaped getting on them for the pain he experienced. I’ve been on opioids for 15+ years. I love and hate it at the same time. I hate the addiction, but love that they actually get rid of the pain so that I can function. And no, I don’t get high from them…they really do just get rid of my pain. But if I don’t take them, the withdrawal is horrible.
Tough stuff, my friend. Thanks for sharing. Have you had to increase the dose over time? Or does the same one do the job? I would guess that is where a lot of the danger with them lies.
Self-destructive healing... I wonder if that has anything to do with taking a prescription drug to overcome illness (mental or physical) that leaves you feeling numb, or gives you other side effects. In any case, he's an artist I'll put on and ask myself what kind of journey it'll be today, or this time. Did you say something about Icarus?
