    One tip from a famous volleyball player in my country is that you hit the part of the ball where you insert the pin. Hit it flat and it floats. When I tried it, it really does float. I've been using that technique ever since, and the opposing team would always have the difficulty in receiving my serves.
    Well, of course, it took me sometime mastering it but it was worth it. 😁

    What do you guys think about the importance of height on a float serve. In my experience the best float servers contact the ball very high and it adds different movements on the ball then most float serves that as a receiver I haven't seen before.

    • @niosniahn8696
      @niosniahn8696 Před rokem

      Not sure about beach volley, but in indoor you always serve float with a jump, so the ball starts its fly high as high above the floor as possible.
      Two different ways to use that hight:
      - you serve jumping into the playing area, and you hit the ball so that it flyes downwards from the very beginning.
      - or you serve standing a few steps from the line, and that gives the ball time to swerve left and right, and if the serve is done perfectly, the ball would fall down just as it crosses the net. This type of serve is common in women's volleyball, and it really is hard.

    Been doing float serves since I started playing. I throw it up a bit high to freeze the team in anticipation, and am coordinated enough to judge where on my hand I want to hit the ball. This has lead to a serve that looks almost the same each time, but moves differently depending on where I hit the ball on the hand. I've gotten good enough to put side spins and front spins on the serve, and by the reaction of other teams, its really tough to navigate. It's a very unorthodox method, but I haven't had anyone on my team complain, nor an opposing team feel comfortable with my serves.

      Usually float is better from what I've seen, unless you can keep improving your topspin making it faster. As you improve other teams do too so it gets easier If you keep it at the same speed. Really you can do both, it just depends what your better at and notice is harder for others to receive!

      Not for a float serve. For a topspin serve definitely, but for a float all that would do is add spin to the ball when you really want it to have no spin so it's less readable. (Disclaimer: I'm not a volleyball coach or anything I just play for my highschool)

I would say if this works Out for you and you get a nice Float with it even though you add Spin then thats fine but you could try Out to Not add the Spin and See If there is a difference between it and decide in which you use

      if you spin you're not floating. if you spin and don't jump the ball hasn't that much energy and indeed a decent defence can take it easier than the float. if the defence is ultra weack ofc you just need to get the ball on their side to score

      A change up is a fake-out, so when good players make it look like they are doing a normal jump serve but they are really doing a jump float it’ll fake them out. But the spin and dropping of the float is like a knuckleball.
