I own this wheel base for about 10 month now. I came from Fanatec DD1 and for me it was big step forward. Especially when it comes to smootheness.
Even though the steering wheels may not look great, they - the formula wheel and the button box - are my absolute favorites. I also don't mind that the buttons themselves aren't illuminated. You quickly get used to the fact that only the lettering is illuminated.
Asetek also listens to the community's wishes. The support via Discord is just great and you usually get an answer within minutes that you can do something with. Fanatec should learn a lesson from this. Asetek manages to reach a very large customer base with just a few support employees.
I have never regretted switching to Asetek.
I made the same change, from a DD1 to an Asetek invicta, and converted my favorite Fanatec wheels to USB with the SRM adapter so I could use them natively with my Invicta.
I would change Asetek a thousand times again!! delighted with the change
@@adri7300 I am looking at buying the asetek after first wanting to buy a dd1. Would you say to keep it native with asetek wheel with their base and pedals or would it be better to get Asetek wheelbase, VNM pedals, and someone elses wheel that goes on
@@ToastyBunzs Hello mate!
I am currently using my Asetek Invicta + GSI Hyper P1 steering wheel + SRP pedals (Sim Racing Pro).
The good thing about Asetek is that it gives you total freedom to use the peripherals you want the most.
So if you decide to use all Asetek it will be a great decision since the quality is very, very TOP!!!
But if in the future you want to update, you can do it perfectly!!!
Greetings mate!!!!
@@mikaoja4603 for me the forte/invicta feel a bit better then the pro2, but theres not much in it. Get what you want, both are great!
You could get a cheap return flight to the USA, stay in a cheap motel, buy the TK version and fly back and still save a load of money over buying one here.
I bnought this a month ago, it's awesome. Didn't think I'd care about the LED strips but they look amazing when racing in the dark
I could not recall why I know the name then I remebered that most PC AIO coolers are based on Asetek technology.
It's why I won't give them any money, as they have a borderline monopoly on the entire industry and treat manufacturers like crap.
F this company.
The TK bundles at Microcenter seem to be an absolute no-brainer to me, if you're in that price territory and the green doesn't bother you
I think the quick release is the best feature. You can get adaptors for Fanatec wheels and all the wiring can be internal, you don't have to have a cable flapping at all. The same is true with a growing number of 3rd party wheel makers. If they make USB wheels they can do all the wiring internally to the QR. You can also buy sort of 'OEM' versions of the USB quick release itself for less than the kit price that does not include the extensions if you want to adapt something yourself.
I don't want to be artificially locked to one brand thanks.
Nice review. I am expecting the La Prima wheel and base in next few days, also waiting on Fanatec V2 pedals, but gonna take longer to arrive. Anyway very much looking forward to it, especially being my first DD wheel. I plan on upgrading to the Forte 18nm when available, and will keep the La Prima wheel until the Invicta wheel gets released.
Awesome! I need to pop over and give it a try in person
That TK bundle looks awesome. I saw a video where Microcenter had a glitch and had the bundle for $380 something bucks. I wish I would have seen that to get it for that cheap.
It was 309.99 and luckily for me it happened 2 days after I bought the TK bundle($800) so I was eligible for a $500 refund.
I went to Man Cave Expo in Birmingham last month. It was nice meeting you outside of the internet, Random. Here at Man Cave it was my first time of touching anything direct drive including the Forté. There was a Asetek station where you use a Forte to drive a Taatus around Silverstone. I had loads of tries and milked it, hahaha. So I'm gonna compare my CSL Elite to Asetek's wheelbase. That Forte was solid. I didn't like the rubber handles of the steering wheel but I got over it quickly. Moza's steering wheel from across the room feels nicer in my hands, can't remember if its the FSR or the GS. Forte's wheel feels like I am holding a piece of rock - you can't snap it even if you try. The Forte can give details that my CSL Elite cannot give. One of them is fight against your hands when you push too much throttle on corner exit. Forte lets you know what is too much or too little when applying gas on corner exit so you will never gas too hard by mistake. I can't do that with the Elite, it does but its usually too late. When it comes to feeling tyre load on cornering, you can feel a lot with the Forte. You can still feel some with the CSL but more vague and not as strong. And when you drive over curbs or accidently dip your wheels on the grass, the Forte wheel will shake hard. CSL Elite will still shake but obviously weaker. Finally did Asetek install a Butt-Kicker and not told me about it? Because each time I change gear the whole cockpit vibrates.
Now need to compare it to that Fanatec DD+:) competition is nice but i will probably still go with fanatec as kinda locked in the ecosystem.
Great, detailed review.
Thoughts on this VS Simcube 2 Sport?
Thanks
This weekend i started using the Forte with the same wheel combination. Its insane, more then strong enough for almost everyone. I use it at 10-13nm thats enough. Going for 18 with in game high settings is not driveable for more than a few laps. Also the fibrations and ffb is realy fast and clear. Love it so far!
I went with Asetek for the USB Quick release. Absolute S tier product. Being able to use any third party USB wheel without dealing with the dangling cable was the big selling point for me. Means I can buy nice wheels and not be locked into any eco-system. Could even opt to add another QR to the Asetek one to get cheaper connectors.
Bought mostly based on my experience testing various wheelbases at Simracing Expo this year. Was mighty impressed by the Asetek, particularly how close the feedback fidelity was between the Invicta and La Prima. Besides speed and strength they felt very similar. Made me confident I was buying a top tier product (in terms of ffb) by going with the La Prima. They definitely swayed me from Simagic.
@@randomcallsign It's been that long, damn. Thanks for making entertaining videos and streams all those years. I don't comment often, but know it's appriciated regardless.
I really like the Forte. It’s a really great option.
Wheel sound great for VR
you can drift with paddle shifters, im sure you could get used to it in a few hours easily
you said everything had to be with the immersion and if you don't have DD wheels base isn't a point but if you don't have definitely you should get it. we try them at Expo, and feel well. for me is the compatibility,, the ascher wheels look great and feel awesome. and i prefer um da me forte , i don't want to get involve with my prima
For that price it HAS to be good.
do you know what is the difference between the quick release adapter sold by Asetek and the quick release adapter sold by Cube Control? does the Cube Control version a direct contact or is it the same like Asetek where you coil the usb cable around the connector
I buy the simline wrc wheel with the asetek qr oem version, and its directly build in the simline buttonbox. I think its the same by Cube controls. The qr oem version was also cheaper as the Asetek version.
They are the same thing because Asetek supplies them to OEM's. It looks like Cube have added their own aluminium part and moved the wiring internally though. All they have to do is unsolder the female usb cable from the asetek part and solder a short cable to their own PCB or internal connector. Basically the same as Cubes QRX system but you don't have to have a USB cable on the wheelbase side.
@@grasstreefarmer So meaning you can connect the wheel without having any cable dangling or coiling around right?
Seems like a lot of play between wheel and rig at 6:46? Doesn’t seem great, am I missing something?
I am making so much force that the whole rig and wheel assembly moves. Its not a tug. Its using the whole body. the QR is solid.
Pineapplegrips sell a colour kit for the forte to get rid of the orange accents. The wheel looks cool in all black.
👍 for the tshirt
Love the pass through USB. Hate the styling.
This vs Simagic Alpha Mini?
@randomcallsign how can you shoot this video at this time without LaPrima, DD+ and Simcube (from the title)?!
@@randomcallsign apologies, another non-english speaker here :)
question: why compare A Tua Prima to DD1, when
a) DD+ of same price is there for pre-order an pre-view
b) a tua Prima (especially bundled with cheaper yet similar wheel) is really tempting candidate
c) where is SimCube in all of this? :)
In other words - viewers are longing to hear opinions and comparisons from those who get chance to review these DD-Dreams ;)
PS obrigado pelo conteúdo
Nowadays 12nm plus all direct drives are very close so they are comparable up to 20nm or so, and what they differ most is in ecossystem and software.
The simucube isn't any different no matter what people say to put that base in a pedestal so in the topic I'm teasing it. I'd have a asetek over a simucube in a heartbeat because it's so much more straightforward in everything.
The lá prima can be emulated in the forte by lowering the slew rate.
I don't have, nor i think I'll have the clubsport plus to review. But it's all the same. So in the conclusions I say, it's the widht of a pintelho, so speaking with no filtering, I don't really give a damn about "which one is best", because best is personal based on relative terms. The asetek feels slightly better than the dd1, or maybe I can tune it better than the dd1, but guess what, I'm keeping the dd1 in the rig because it feels right and it's really practical to me.
Don't give much credence to "best ffb" or whatever without much context to it because it's all very subjective.
I got the TK bundle for $800 and I can say it's pretty good however I would like ypu to test something random from my testing 5.2 NM on the cal dd 8nm is the same as 4.2 or there about on the asetek wheel bases also I dislike the grips my hands sweat a lot and it's very slippery but I like the wheel I race in the dark so I don't see any green
@@randomcallsign how did you get the asetek base to work on forza motosport?
Coming from DD1 to Invicta... It's a major difference. 😊
800 for full setup...man that hurts!
You guys think the wheel looks ugly? Wut?
@@designamk1160 I think it looks awesome but alright, fully respect your opinion, I can kinda see why some would think it's ugly
I wouldn't be surprised if they had fisher-price design it, it looks like a toy for toddlers
What wheel is that? I mean the round wheel?
Asetek got their own now. Much better option than formula wheel for the same price (they will be included in bundles as well, confirmed).
Asetek is top tier
La prima is probably good enough for 99% of people, it has the same motor as the Forte, only different eletronics and a limit to 12 nm
From my testing at Simracing Expo, even the difference between the la prima and invicta is surprisingly small. Yes the invicta is better, mroe powerful, faster, but the quality of the feedback itself is extremely similar in my experience there.
Ehh I would say 80% of people. I had a 12nm wheel. It can simulate most cars but not open wheel. I have a 28nm now and for me it makes a nice difference sometimes.
Different slew rate is huge.. 4 vs 6.7 vs 9.4!
GT3 and up (formulas) is much more detailed in Forte and Invicta.
I wish Asetek would announce their upgrade price for LaPrima >> Forte (diff is 250).
PS Would be nice to have plans for TrueForce implementation info as well.
@@unotoliThe prima to forte base upgrade isn't happening any time soon. It's no longer mentioned on the product page. They said on fb that changing the motherboard and psu is proving too difficult for most people in their tests.
Having used Asetek, DD2 and Simucube....nothing comes close to Simucube.

You‘re right: the Wheel looks pretty ugly, but also quite ergonomic, though.
Seems to be the ugly sister of the wheel that the williams f1 team uses.
Yeah i def dont believe it beats simucube. I dont like asetek ffb delivery as much. It feels like it has more built in inirtia and weight. Not just weight from ffb from the game. I preder raw feelings i dont like filters or added weight unless its truely just the ffb. Thats what I love about simucube. When hifh speed corners its controllsble and not so tight or springy in the middle that you can actually feel the give in the ffb to find that limit of grip. This new style from asetek of a faux center forces instead of utilizing true ffb queues from the game I just dont like how they are doing it. Its very notcieable in acc compared to other bases. I like free flowing strong wheelbases that feel loose snappy and heavy from ffb not built in dampening or added inirtia. It seems asetek is using some especially high speed inirtia even if turned off.
I prefer both simucube and simagic much more. Im not the only one who pointed this out so did laurence in his review.
I get that the details aka vibrations and stuff are good and direct but i think we are now getting into a phase of ffb where its being over played. The most importsnt feeling will always be the limit of grip. Feeling the actual ffb gove and grab give and grab where you can push over the limit to find it. But now brands are trying to sdd even more center forces and details in a fake way that it hurts the feel for me. We have had plenty of details on bases for a while now. Adding in some fake details doesnt impress me. Im not one seweching for more curb details i have plenty already. Im looking for the best feeling wheel when unfer beaking, under throttle turning in and reacting to every little input i make.
Which we have with simucube and simagic.
I completely understand why you turn every down or off now after trying the newer wheelbases and comparing them to goats like simucube and simagic. That method and delivery is just so much better and you can actually utilize the settings without it ruining the feel. For the settings and preference you have dude you would love either of these brands. Thats legit what they are good at. That unfiltered feel yet buttery smooth.
