  • With my talking about Me Before You earlier this week, for those people who are new to my channel or don't know me as well, I thought I should do a video just about my disability so you can see a bit more of where I'm coming from.

    I'm glad that you were born with such an inner strength, and positive outlook. I wish you the best!

    I had been reading your blog for a while before I realized you had a disability, you would mention it every now & then but for the longest time I wasn't sure exactly what it was. And the first time I saw a full-body picture with someone else I was really surprised! So thanks for the details, it's always interesting to learn more about someone. I'm sure these things get boring to you after a while because as you said, you just learn to live with things.
    My Q: what is your favorite thing about being part of the bibliophile/reading community? It could be specific to BookTube or just as a person who reads a lot in general, outside of a specific social media connection.

      +Brittany Pines I actually get surprised too when I see pictures of me next to other people! Like, I know how short I am, but then when I see it I'm like "OMG THAT'S SO WEIRD!"

    Thanks for sharing! Glad I am finally finally getting around to watching your videos. :D
    My question: Most important book you ever read?

      +Kristi Beroldi I have a ton of catching up to do! Also- I think you have the hardest question!

    I loved this video! I never knew you had a disability until I saw your Q&A video. I also have a genetic disability and I'm the only one to have it in my family. They keep adding new types to my genetic disorder too. Haha. Mine causes me to be legally blind (not correctable by glasses or contacts) and a few other health things. I know it seems weird to say I'm blind when I'm a reader, but I hold it RIGHT up to my nose and use other accommodations haha. It's so cool to see someone else with a genetic disorder on booktube! :) Thanks for sharing your story!

      +ABasketCaseyReads Did I know this? Part of me feels like I did, but maybe I didn't? I don't remember! But that's crazy! Does it get annoying having to hold books up that close? What other accommodations do you use to read?

    I think it is very brave to talk about a condition you have. Also do you watch the Middle? I saw online that Atticus Shaffer who plays Brick has your same condition, OI. I find that it is always nice to have someone to relate to when you struggle with something like that, and with any issue a person may have like anxiety and being deaf in one ear for me. Maybe it will inspire others to talk about conditions they may have!

      @EmilyHornburg  Před 8 lety +1

      Aw thank you! You should totally talk about it more because I'm sure there's tons of people on CZcams who are similar! And I do watch The Middle! I love that kid!

    Qs: Have you ever read a book with a character who has OI. Or, have any books you've read represented a disability really well in your opinion? I know we've discussed that in general it's lacking, but I was wondering if you've read anything you'd consider a good example.

    Wow. Great video. I appreciate you letting us into your world and telling us about your disability.
    My question is: What do you do for a living?

    • @EmilyHornburg
      @EmilyHornburg  Před 8 lety +1

      +Latin Lector Thanks! I"m glad you liked it! I never know how people will respond when I talk about it

  • @ramblingsofabooksniffer8302

    Thanks for educating us who have never heard of OI. I'm curious, how did you fracture your knee?

    Question: Do you have a hidden talent? :)

    @sarahannereads Před 8 lety +1

    I've heard you talk about this before since we've been internet friends for like 5 years or something (which is CRAZY), but it's always so neat to hear you open up about it!
    Question...if you could be a Disney princess, which one would you be and why? (And I present the disclaimer that this is not the same as who's your favorite. Because someone can be your favorite without you wanting to be them.)

    • @EmilyHornburg
      @EmilyHornburg  Před 8 lety +1

      +sarahannereads It's a weird thing having so many internet friends who have known me for forever, but my disability really isn't part of it. I never remember how much about it you all know already

    I've heard you briefly talk about it in a couple videos. Thank you for sharing though. It was very informative especially with you breaking down what it stands for.
    Q: if you had to eat one food item everyday for the rest of your life what would it be? (You can still eat other stuff, I'm not cruel ;P)

    Thanks for sharing with us. I was totally unfamiliar with OI. Sounds like you have to live pretty carefully.
    Q: Why did you start doing youtube/booktube?
