I believe we were only told a bit of what happened in the garden of eden or garden of heaven, it must have been problematic to listen to lucifer in terms of respect. Why would Adam listen to Devil who did not respect humankind to begin with.
Adams dua is interesting and very honest, he asks for forgiveness otherwise he knew he would be among the losers.
The apple was probably meant to be eaten later which granted them extra perceptions and bible calls it knowledge of good and evil.
