    Watching this in 2021 bc it’s still an incredible Aussie commercial. Makes it look so dangerous and wild to visit.

    5 years later and I just booked a trip to the Barossa Valley, this ad had a lot to do with that decision. Even after all these years this advert stuck in my head. Good work to the filmmakers

    this ad stuck with me becasue it was a tourism ad that showed the audience everything you're not supposed to see, it showed brutality, danger, mystery and thats what made it stand out. Great work to the people that made the ad, I hope it worked

    It is brilliant!!! Nick Wagner - the reason it is so good is it doesn't go down the stagnant old traditional tourism path. It shows beautiful food and connection to the land which are emotional hooks that drive people to visit the Barossa. It appears to be incredibly well researched marketing. The fact that it has had over 8,000 views in less than 12 hours means that it has good viral spread, which means it is highly effective.

    I like this ad, very earthy and basic. It does show the Barossa in summer,very dry. It is very green at the this time of year. Some scenes in Spring would have balanced this. Some have said the song is misplaced but to me it suggests the grape stained hands of the winemakers. Barossa reds are world class.Overall an ad that does not treat its audience as idiots.

  • @MesdamesManneQuin

    I was really taken by this ad and am amused by the comments on this video. I suppose what is important (for an ad promoting tourism) is to entice consumers, which I think this does but if and when I do visit it will be interesting to explore how my expectations match up with the reality.

    The song has no relationship to the ad, according to the Ad producer, apart from being a stiring background to the visual imagery..which it achieves for me. Personally I love the Ad and I live in the Barossa. What I get out of it is probably a whole lot different than the next person. I think that was the ad makers intention.

    I live 40 mins drive from the Barossa. I love this area and visit every time I'm physically able and have been going since I moved to SA 25 yrs ago. There is nothing in this ad that is indicative of any experience I've ever had in the area and I can understand the locals disappointment with this ad .. It misses SO much of what is glorious and amazing about this jewel of a region. Instead we got .. ladybugs .. and stuff. Totally missed the mark much.

    • @Sylvael2002
      @Sylvael2002 Před 3 lety

      So the beautiful food, wine and scenery is not indicative of Barossa? You never mentioned what you thought should have been in the add for comparison, so there's really no alternative that you offered for scrutiny other than being a negative nancy.

  • @DavidBrookes
    @DavidBrookes Před 11 lety +3

    What a load of rubbish Nick. It is evocative and aspirational. There is more to the Barossa than wine and the choice of Red Right Hand for the backing track (except for those with limited imaginations) conjures up images of winemaking and toiling on the land. People respond to visual stimulus and this ad delivers that in spades. I also live in the Barossa and I am very proud of that ad.....and the response has been overwhelmingly positive from what I have seen in the press and on social media.

  • @testimonies888
    @testimonies888 Před 11 lety

    As one living in the Barossa and very much a player in our tourism services I am very disappointed by this commercial - essentially it is an arty farty piece of photographic poetry that offers no motivation to come all the way over to our Barossa Valley, unless your into playing in the dirt or you like outdoor picnicking.

  • @sbliim72
    @sbliim72 Před 11 lety +3

    I find it hilarious that youtube puts ads in front of ads. That aside, I am completely baffled by this ad, it looks like a bunch of hipster wankers form Melbs got together and thought "yeah this confusing jumble of imagery will entice punters out to wine country".

  • @testimonies888
    @testimonies888 Před 11 lety +1

    It is still a piece of arty farty disappointment. The imagery is highly fanciful and evokes what? Its all about the food? Direct from the land? Gorge yourself on epicurean delights? Play in the dirt that sustains it all. What a disappointment when tourists arrive to find dirt gravel roads, poor tourist infrastructure, and traffics jams in Murray Street!
