• Ed Toutant On Millionaire . - Hry
My right ear was lonely.
Is it still? I have, often, wondered over these last 7 long years..
Watching this just after hearing of his passing.
RIP Ed Toutant :(
RIP
I hope Ed lived a happy rest of his life after this. Rest In Peace, Ed.
Morgan Douglas Wow. He's dead?
@@christucker9966 Ed Toutant died of cancer, 17 years later. Sadly, even his big money could not prevent that disease's outcome.
He and Regis are probably playing Millionaire in the big house.
@@Ghostrider6A There's no big house.
@@Ghostrider6A Yea he's up to several trillion dollars and is going to help us pay off the world's national debts.
Nancy Christie, the first female winner, mentioned she travelled to Austin for Ed's last big dinner with friends and family, done the way he wanted it. She also was first to announce she'd learned Bob-O died and been with him during some health troubles before. Some of the WWTBAM winners did meet up and become friends, apparently.
He really is still the last person to win more than a million on this show to this day as he said. R.I.P. Ed.
i really like hearing regis philbin talking in my left ear
It should be your right one you're wearing them wrongly
Ed Toutant was also the last person to get the jackpot question correct 4 days before the 9/11/2001 Terrorist Attacks.
*Bush Attack
RIP Ed Toutant
One of the Top Prize Winners of this show!
GSNgameshowman24 When and why did he die?
He died of brain cancer on November 6, 2018.
That’s sad. I hope he enjoyed almost $2,000,000 before he died.
@@fable9159 He probably spent most of it anyway.
Never seen this but I truly thought insecticide too but I also thought he was going to be wrong. Man I’m glad he won it
He came back as a +1 on today's episode!
on a question about filled pasta lol
Yeah lol. I knew it because I love manicotti!

Never mention the answer you are actually thinking is correct before you choose the 50/50
Very true. The people running the system will burn you that way. I wonder if some contestants used that to their advantage.
@@woodrowboudreaux9951Norm McDonald mentioned this too
@@CrossoverFan4life So, as "Quiz" showed, the procedures are very tight, but when Norm played, how it worked was the writer of the question chose the 50 50. However they write them, they'd be able to work out the two most likely guesses. So, it was rigged only in the sense that they had expertise on guessing the guesses. Cynicism to not say the hunches isn't unwarranted, but really, it was just the question writers knowing the two likely hunches. Eventually however, the system had changed to where it was randomly chosen by an RNG when the 50 50 is used. Yes, quiz shows were rigged in the 50s, but WWTBAM, a global Sony/Celador huge franchise, is VERY professional.
@@occono3543 That's fascinating info about the 50/50. Thx!
I am guessing they did it as $1.86 million so that the contestant could actually get 1 million dollars after the loss of 40 percent tax.
That could have been another intention. The actual intention was a 2nd chance at a lost bonus, due to a faulty question. The jackpot was reset to its amount in Ed's original game.
Love you Ed. What an inspirational story! Hope you’re living life well in heaven. You are one of the best game show Gods ever. 😃😇
this occurred just 4 days before 9/11
wow
Joseph Ragsdale scary
basher214 ikr
Joseph Ragsdale Yes, I've seen show long time when I was 7 years old, and I was exciting to see him win.
R.I.P to Ed Toutant and Regis Philbin. I hope that they will have fun in heaven. 🙏😢🙁😞
In that case, I commend you on your knowledge. I like the difficulty of the questions as it is. This question was not easy to me. Then again, I only GUESSED it correctly. As Chris Tarrant [the original, and current British host] once said, "It's only easy when you know the answer."
4 days later, And RIP to both.
What???
@@trblemker00 9/11 and the Death of Ed Toutant AND Regis Philbin way after that.
Lucky in money but unlucky in longevity. Ed died of brain cancer in late 2018 at age 66.
He had 17 years with that big money. I'm grateful that he got more time than others have gotten.
Windfalls can kill people, it's well documented.
The fact that Ed knew the right thing to do would be to walk away with $500,000 and yet he had the urge to risk it all and go for it even though he wasn't 100% sure was incredible.
In this case...yeah, it was worth the gamble. It often isn't, but listen to him reasoning it, and Regis was even, yeah. Walk into the cave. You can live with it.
May 15 2009 ABS-CBN WWTBAM PH
Because it's the jackpot special of Millionaire.
I have to question where antiseptic could be used in WWII, and why the army would issue shaving cream when they were already carrying a lot of equipment as is.
4:22
Hey at least he won $1,000,000 after taxes
Fucking balls of steel
This episode believe it or not was actually recorded 4 days before the 9/11 massacre and I’m sure they aired this episode way later
A great moment for him and his wife! And, a gutsy decision to go for it!
funny when he said about making history by becoming the first person to drop 468k lol
2:30
That would be something, indeed, Ed....just wait about oh, 8 years later, and we get to see real history.
Those are valid points. I could only guess that antiseptic could be used in an infirmary to swab on wounds. I see no use on the battlefield for it, or shaving cream.
balls of a bengal tiger that man
Definitely. He was determined to go all the way, even if he didn't win it.
How bad could the bugs have been?? I thought for sure it was antiseptic!!
186k views, perfect.
Now it's at about 190k views.
I barely knew who he was until researching him for your comment. As funny and disturbing as it is, I also saw a resemblance.
Shame that his second run didn't even aired on GSN...
Oh no, I watch it bootlegged on CZcams after they air them, did they skip over it? It did air on ABC after a delay because of 9/11, why would they skip it now? They air higher quality versions than the existing recordings.
Ed Toutant has passed away earlier tonight. He will be missed.
Ed Toutant was a contestant on the November 6, 2018 episode of Celebrity Bucket Kickers.

Zach Horan Yes you fucking dolt. I already said that...
He was also a contestant on Jeopardy! and won 1 episode
@@fable9159 He was also on "Game Show Nationals"/"Grand Slam" on GSN with John Carpenter, Ken Jennings, Nancy Christie, Ogi Ogas, Brad Rutter and other Millionaire and Jeopardy big winners.
I would have gone "shaving cream" final answer..
So I was thrilled to see the final answer... marvelous to see this..wonder what 1.86 million dollars is worth ???
That terrifying background noise doesn't help with consentration
Damn, talk about the drama! I thought it was shaving cream anyways.
He looks and sounds like ted bundy. Also when regis simply says... got it, I think he could've added a little drama instead of simply saying that
From what I understand, this wasn't originally supposed to air. In most cases, the contestants who returned due to faulty questions would play the rest of their run on an unaired segment. None of the others won the million, explaining why they only aired Ed's footage...and it might explain why Regis didn't draw this one out as much as usual.
If you watch the full episode you can see how the transitions to and from commercial are pretty awkward.
Way to go my man, sometimes you just got to take risks
Absolutely. No guts, no glory.
Wasn't this also the last Primetime episode of Millionaire?
***** It would have made a good ending, but, no. It was not the last prime-time episode of Millionaire.
It was actually the last jackpot like adding 10k more.
It was a season finale. He was called back, I think? Maybe producers messed up a question?
I wish the ratings were still up after he won the million. So we wouldn't have to be subdued to this new format shit these days.
i think i would be tempted to go for it too if i had the 50/50 and the jackpot was 2 mil as its nearly 3 to 1 odds but totally different story if jackpot was only 1 mil
Nathan Smith how would it be a different story? potential loss is still the same
I guess we are looking at the same glass in different ways!
@@ciaran6677 :D no you're not looking the same glass but different view. Mathematically speaking, Ed was wise to take his guess.
Imagine that you played "Heads or Tails" with your friend. You place 100$ and he places 200$. Winner takes the whole 300$. This is the kind of scenario that you should take everytime on any given day, even if it scares you to lose the 100$. But if you get 2:1 payout with something that is 50/50... Thats just too good to turn your back away
IF ONCE AGAIN I HOSTED THIS GAME SHOW!!--BESIDES THE $1,860,000-IF IT WERE UP TO ME--ED WOULD HAVE ALSO A NEW CAR 🚙 AS WELL!!
I thought antiseptic cause of war but insects are dangerous to soldiers too.
Ed Toutant passed away from cancer on November 6
Joseph Ragsdale Last year?
Yes. He died on November 6, 2018.
His wife looks like Robin Wright
if anyone has it, it would be great to upload it.
Wow! Great! Enjoy!
Who said money can’t buy happiness ? Look that woman love 💃🏼 🤑🤑🤑🤑
ballsy, nice one m8
one thing I don't like about the American show is after they give their answer, the host says yes straight away. there's no pause or waiting for a few seconds to make him sweat. the British one is better!
I know what your're saying but the British one is still the original and the best! Did you ever watch the english one where an army major cheated his way to a million pound with the help off his wife and another contestant? Its called Major fraud! Its quite amazing really.. Watch it!
2:49 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Agreed, does anybody have them?
Have what?
The sailors on the starboard side of the ship heard nothing.
Me too
Wow. That was anticlimactic. You would expect an, we'll see if he's right after the break, there.
That's how the UK show did it. The US show I think tried it but it didn't work, maybe people were changing the channel so they didn't do the final answer cliffhangers.
that was easy.
The final Millionaire when Regis was hosting
It would have made a good ending, but it was not Regis's finale. The WWTBAMClassics channel has a "final primetime episode" playlist. That is, b4 Meredith Vieira replaced him. I don't know if any episodes from his brief primetime return (in 2009) are uploaded. To my knowledge, those are his actual final episodes.
@@quizshow1977 The anniversary episodes are now up on a different channel, except the very last one, CZcams has it detect-flagged.
I thought Regis hosted all of season 1 and Meredith replaced him in season 2
@@fable9159 No, Regis ran, like, 1999-2002? A lot of episodes before he left. He came back in 2009 for the anniversary series too.
lol
why is it 1.86 and not million
In a ratings stunt, the producers added $10K to the jackpot for each episode since their previous million dollar winner (David Goodman). The original bonus winner (Kevin Olmstead) earned $2.18 million. Previously, Ed got ruled incorrect on a faulty $16K question. The producers invited him back to the hot seat, replaced the faulty question, restored the audience lifeline that he had used, and reset the jackpot to its amount from his original game. That's how it reached $1.86 million. Only during these times did the jackpot bonus exist.
I guessed c
Tachanka Chanka And u were correct after he did used 50/50.
I would have gone for it too since he had a 50/50 chance of being a 1,860,000 winner
Yeah, and a good logical hunch he explained. And, yeah, he'd be the first big loser, famous for that. You'd have to walk into the pitch black cave of treasures with those odds. You only live once.
sorry....why is it 1.86 and not 1mil even?
It feels like it was rigged watching that. The contestant has zero personality lol
I apologize if this goes to the wrong person. Ed was invited back to the show after a faulty question was thrown out. During his original show, there was an escalating bonus that added $10,000 to the million at the start of each episode. The producers reset the jackpot to what it was on that night. Before this episode, the original bonus winner was Kevin Olmstead. He won $2.18 million.
An 86-episode drought × $10k/episode + $1M = the $1.86M jackpot!
He looks like Ted Bundy
That was just what I thought :D His last interview....
Who he?
Easy question. The only way to atomise large volumes of air is by using an aerosol, and illness and disease caused by flying insects can decimate the fighting effectiveness of troops in tropical climates.
Hey don't complain if you want the easy money show back haha
