- Join us as we fly down to Kentucky Dam State Park Airport (M34) for a Pilot's of America fly-in. In this IFR flight we enjoy a smooth ride and a bit of a tail wind once we get up to altitude. As requested in previous comments, I show a close up of my instruments with a brief explanation.
This video is for entertainment purposes only and is not intended as instruction in any way. For instruction please contact your local flight school.

Ok I figured it out... Its the chemistry and charisma the three of y'all have! Kevin, Jaime and the 310. Y'all are like the perfect package.
Ha ha...thank you NBT!! We are all 3 having a blast with each other. :)
Awesome flight. Great to see Jaime back in the cockpit. Look like it was nice weather there at Kentucky Dam. I know that had to be a great time all. You two are such a cute couple, and both of you do well in the cockpit. Watching Part 2 now. Thanks for sharing an awesome video. Happy Flying, and safe landings.
Thank you Richard! Glad to be able to take my lovely co-pilot down to beautiful Kentucky. Hope you enjoyed part 2 as well.
Thanks for the close-up on your instrumentation (Six pack) along with a nice explanation. You two are a very compatiable couple which makes this a fun channel to view.
Thanks Bill...glad you enjoyed it!
You guys are now my favorite pilot/ATC folks to watch. I love to see people in love. So beautiful. Not just the love between you two but your love for aviation as well. Im a little behind watching as IM trying to get used to new hearing aids and trying to get them connected to my personal computer in order to hear your audio. Thank you again for allowing my dreams to come true through your gracious efforts in filming your flights. You 2 are awesome.
Thank you Thomas for all your kind words! We love sharing our passion of aviation with others. Hopefully you'll get the audio stuff worked out! :)
I just found and subscribed to your channel and I have been watching non-stop every day. Thank you sir sharing your flights.
loved the video. you two are great match. thanks.
Thank you Frank!
The 310 has been my favorite twin ever since Sky King traded in his Cessna Bobcat for one. These videos are a lot of fun to watch. Thanks for sharing!
Of course I'm partial but I agree. I think they are the sexiest of the light twins and they have really good performance specs. I'm glad you like the videos!
I'm really loving the holiday mood chatter on this trip. Nice look at the instrument layout as well.
Glad you liked it John and thanks for the feedback!!
I grew up in western Kentucky ! I was a kid when they built the dam and flooded thousands . My brother had a house on the lake for years before he died.I live in Idaho now.I was in the navy on a aircraft carrier. I love you flight and you beautiful airplanes.Keep up the good work.
Another great video. Absolutely love your fun-loving relationship. You guys make me smile.
Glad you enjoyed it Doug!! :)
Awesome plane guys. After 20 yrs of not flying, I’m starting ground school this week! I can’t wait to start flying again. Great content guys keep it up..!!
Glad you liked it! Good luck on knocking the rust off. It'll be like riding a bike...couple flights and you'll be good to go.
Really enjoy the videos! It’s nice to be able to watch longer flights. Keep em coming. I live bout a half hour south of the dam. It’s a nice scenic approach.
Glad you're enjoying them Joe! I'm a fan of your home area. It's beautiful down there.
Six pack explanations were very informative. Thank you. Would love to see more of the instrumentation.
Thanks for the ride, it's always a treat!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching. :)
Another awesome video, guys!...you make aviate, navigate, communicate look easy and seamless
Thank you Tom! I'm glad you liked it.
Watching your videos has gotten me to fly more and better on radio coms. Like Jamie's aviator sunglasses and hat.
Something oddly comforting about watching your vids on a Sunday afternoon. Guess these days when I’m not flying vicarious is how I get my kicks. :). Glad to see she’s back on the saddle with you. You must love the sass. 😌. Thanks for the post.
Glad to have you flying vicariously through us. I'm happy to have my sass back in the sky. :)
Loved the panel review, very informative... Most important (& amusing- know your isolation button!), Plenty of sass ✅
Thanks for taking us with you!
You're welcome.
Love your videos! Nicely done.
Great team, great attitudes! Keep them coming!
Thank you Kenneth...glad you are liking them! We'll keep them coming!
Mr Kevin you have an amazing wife sir... You better hang on to her ! Love her goofiness .. Lol. Love this trip, and the sing along. Thanks for making this possible for us. I know how much work goes into these videos and I have to say I appreciate it very much. God bless guys.
Glad you're enjoying it! I'm going to hang on to her for sure....she's a keeper!! I'm a very lucky man. :)
That sure is a beautiful plane! Great video as always, I enjoyed it very much. On a side note.. I finally got to solo last Saturday and started cross country training. Keep up the great work sir
Thank you and Congrats on your solo William!!! That's a huge accomplishment. Won't be too long now and you'll be piloting yourself wherever you want. :)
Thanks! My written is coming up May 29. Wish me luck
Congrats William! The first is one take-off and landing you will never forget. Mine was in 1973 and I still remember it like it was last week.
Congrats William! You'll find this is just the first solo you'll have. In your future you may have your first solo in IMC after getting your instrument rating (go get it as soon as you can), your first high performance solo, first complex, etc. They aren't as official, so to speak, as your solo for private. But each one is a big stepping stone and brings back that feeling from the very first solo you completed.
Christopher Olsen I do indeed plan to have many more firsts. I am learning to fly in hope of changing careers. Always wanted to fly, but I came from a very poor family. I have spent the last 17 years as a diesel tech on 18 wheelers and heavy equipment, and it's taking it's toll on my body. Gotta find something easier physically to do, so hopefully I can fly professionally within the next 4-5 years.
Enjoyed watching. Heard myself on Champaign approach, 65Q. Thanks for sharing your flights!
Glad you enjoyed it and got to hear yourself Brandon! Aviation is a small world. :)
That was great, I was certainly glad you used your phone to view the dash, very interesting and it sure does help when you explain what your looking at and doing. I'll be checking out part 2 real soon and as always thank you so much for sharing these great videos.
You're welcome! Glad you liked it. I'll try to add those views in more...I need to add a couple gopros to the group.
Love your videos. I watch a lot of Stevo1kenivo and Premire1Pilot as well, but you guys are just so down to earth and "Real." I have a PVT pilots licences with an instrument rating, but have been unable to fly for years due to health issues. I live through all of you guys vicariously. I miss it soooooo much.
Glad you are enjoying our videos Travis and while I'm sad you can't get up there on your own, I'm happy we can get you up there till you get a chance to get your wings back!
Hi! My instructor used to tell me that any landing you could walk away from was a good one! lol I can tell when your copilot is with you, your pretty happy! That's awsome! Until next time, God speed
I'm currently going back and watching these earlier videos from before I subscribed. This one had so many truly lol moments!
Awesome! Glad you're enjoying some of our older ones and thanks again for subscribing! :)
Another great video. Keep up the great flying and vids. Helps my day go by at the office, then I go flying in the evening.
Glad you are liking them!
Great Flight, thanks always enjoy your videos.
You're welcome Ron, glad you enjoy them. :)
I appreciate that you guy do not do clickbait. No crazy thumbnail in the video to get 1 extra click from curious people, nor video tittles all in caps to get a slightly higher position in the search results. I immediately assume that is a video of some nice folks that that went to a Kentucky Fly-In. You got one more subscriber.
Thank for the kind words and subscription Sergio! We try to just keep it real. I always use a pic from the actual event and try to give an accurate description of what the video is about.
I love flying with you guys and learn alot! I'm not a pilot although always dreamed of it! Somehow life took me in other directions ,but I did take a few intro lessons way back in the late 80s, I remember being more intimidated by the radios than anything! 60 now so not sure what the future holds but really enjoy your videos and love the music! You've got a very sweet copilot too! She reminds me alot of Jennifer Aniston! Safe & Happy flights to you all!
Thank you Don for the nice words. It's never too late to resume your flight training. :) I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. I agree...I have a keeper of a co-pilot!!
Great video! You guys make a great team! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you think so Todd!
Fantastic.!! I'm in love with the 310 all over again..!!! - Kimi
Thank you! :)
Good to see you at 7,000 to a comfortable altitude and I'm seeing your power settings are perfect and the prop sink is great
I enjoy the 7-8 range. Gets you above the bumps, bugs and other traffic. I watch the winds closely and will always pick a favorable alt based on that as well. I don't have a prop sync so I gotta do it the old fashion way with the ears. :)
Wish I lived down in that area - beautiful country there, & great people too. I'm in a great spot as far as MA goes, but I can't leave the neighborhood - I'm surrounded by city folk. 😁
Funny you mention "damper" & "dampener" - just had this discussion on Blancolirio's CZcams channel yesterday on one of his motorcycle videos. I was saying how my instructor at MMI Phoenix in the day (when speaking of motorcycle suspension) said to us, "It's DAMPING - you're not making anything WET - you're controlling oil flow!", when students would mistakenly say "compression dampening" or "rebound dampening". 😂 That stuck with me ever since! Easy mistake to make - everyone does it!
Enjoyed the flight down with you guys. I'll get to part 2 sometime today. Great vid, as usual! 👍
Thanks Smitty! Glad you enjoyed part 1. I wish I lived down there as well. It is one of those words you know how to spell but it's just easier to mispronounce. :) I'll get it one day.
I stumbled across your videos. In the first minute, I said thats a good old country boy that likes to hunt, And can fly a plane. I may be wrong, but that's how I see it. Your videos are peaceful for some reason.
Glad you found us Kevin. I love hunting and fishing. Most people that know me would say country boy fits. Grew up in small town Georgia and spend the fall chasing white tails. :)
Awesome seeing my old stomping grounds where I got my license. Flew over that dam many times. Thanks!
Glad to take you back JD. Sure is pretty down there.
The Garmin G5 is a great piece to have and thank you for the 6pack close up . I'm have to get studying on how to set up a engine monitor in a Cessna 182 I'll be flying in the later months with the owner so I have to start reading up on it .
I love your videos. I feel like I am having a get away just watching. I started watching because my son is taking flying lessons and I know I will be in a plane with him one day soon. I wanted to get the feel of being in a plane. But you guys make it fun. You look like you have a great time with each other.
Thank you for the nice comment Ray! Congrats on your son's flying...I'm sure you guys will have great adventures together and if he want's to do it for a living it's a great time to get in!
Thank for your reply. He leaves at the end of the month to go out to Kansas for flight school. What is so funny is, I always look at homes around Ky lake. My son and I talked about if we got a home there we could fly there. We live in Louisville, KY. When I saw your video of you guys flying into Ky Lake damn, I was amazed where the air field was located. You guys being on the boat and in the lodge sure brought back memories of when I fished with my dad at Ky Lake. He had a trailer at Big Bear resort. Love your videos. Love the 2 different angles views and I love your twin engine plane!
Great video! Thanks! You are right... the Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley combo created on the Tennessee River and Cumberland respectively forms one of the largest man-made bodies of water in the world. Thanks for taking us along!
Thank you and thanks for the further information! Very nice area of the country. :)
I enjoy your flights...keep posting. Go Dawgs!
Thank you Dave. Go Dawgs!!
Wow! What an approach!
Love your videos, watching from Luxembourg!
You two are the cutest couple. I greatly enjoy your videos.
Thank you David! :)
Jamie, you're so funny. We miss you in 2021 so we have to rerun old videos to see you. ❤️
Kevin, it was good to have the detailed phone shots and information and Jaime the way you played with your hair reminded me of a flight with one of my young staff when she plated and un-plated her hair on long final! :-)
Enjoyed part one, thanks for posting.
Glad you liked it Jodel!
Another great video and trip thanks for sharing
Glad you liked it Gerald! :)
Good video hope you had a OK time in Kentucky
Normal takeoff and release brakes ' oh ya it's all power and I'm loving the sound of the engines on climb out to cruise settings like always ATC communication skills on point.
Thanks Bernard! Glad you liked it. :)
You two are the coolest couple in the friendly skies.
I stumbled across your videos about 1 month ago. Reminds me of my college days when a pretty, young co-ed convinced me to take skydiving lessons with her. Instructions and one free jump included. About a dozen of us in the class, of which 6 took the free jump. Two of us went back 9 more times. It wasn't until my 11th plane ride that I actually experienced a landing in a plane.
God bless you both
You are one lucky guy! Your co-pilot is adorable!
I agree David...the luckiest!
Welcome back below the Mason Dixon Line. I’m sure it was a great trip for the two of you. Thanks for the close up of your six pack plus... If you ever make it to Huntsville, AL give me a heads up. We’re based at KFYM, long story. If y’all want to see our lake fly into 8A1 and stay on Guntersville Lake. Bass heaven if you’re into fishing. Keep the post coming for those of us that enjoy them.
Thanks for the offer Jay! I love Bass fishin!! I'll let you know if we ever find the time to come on down. Sounds like fun. It's always fun to be south of the Mason Dixon line!
Great flight. Impressed with your co-pilot’s radio calls. I take it she is a pilot also. You make a good team.
Thank you Paul! She makes the team great. :) She isn't a pilot, she is an air traffic controller. That helps explain her mic skills.
Best video yet, in my opinion. Flying to a cool destination and having fun along the way. And thanks for making me feel at home with the lingo. #itsasouthernthang #hillbillyflyer
Thanks Steve! You sound like my kind of people.
Love it when u kid each other. She wins with her beautiful smile tho🌝
:)
Loving your videos. Had me looking at 310s on Controller the other day. Still a little pricey for me, not to mention how much more training I would need. Oh, bye the way, I looked up the largest man made lake. It is ... Lake Mead, Nevada. Named after Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Elwood Mead, Lake Mead is the largest reservoir in the United States, stretching 112 miles long with a total capacity of 28,255,000 acre-feet, a shoreline of 759 miles, and a maximum depth of 532 feet.
Loved watching this. Flew in to M34 with the jabiru j230 several times last year from KMVN before I lost my license(I hate you faa...i will get it back). M34 is such a nice lil airport (only thing missing is fuel). Besides the birds and geese you also have to look for turtles on the runway😁. If you ever get a chance, be sure to rent a boat and explore ky lake. As you said, the water is very blue and clean and you could totally see your feet in it.
Thank you for posting this.
Glad you enjoyed it! If you watch part 2, you'll see we did rent a boat and ventured on the lake. :) It was a great place to visit.
I hope that someone told you about Patty's Landing. It is a wonderful restaurant in the area. sets on the the land between Kentucky lake and Lake Barkley. It is not only a great restaurant but a small village of shops to visit. I love how the two of you really enjoy yourselves and work together operating the plane.
Thanks for the heads up James. We did hear about Patty's. Too bad about it burning down. We will go back when they re-open. Thanks for the nice words. :)
Great video as always. Love the UGA hat. Go Dawgs!!
Thanks Will! Go Dawgs!!
Folks you sure dont get time to enjoy the flight you are so darn busy up there wow never realized how busy it is in the planes thanks for the videos
You're welcome Dave! It is busy at times...especially during departure and arrival but in cruise things get fairly slow. I usually edit out as much of the slow times as possible. Thanks for watching!
Love your channel. Good work
Thank you Jack!!
I've never been to Kentucky so I'm ready to go for my favorite flight
Engines sound great...…...smooth!
Thanks Claud! Hope they keep sounding smooth for several more years!!
I would love to see you guys in a small Honda jet in the future, or a Cessna citation you would be awesome as well just my thoughts or fantasy thinking love your channel wishing you guys the best of all levels in life.
Kebin & Janie, I have been watching your videos for quite some time now but just ran across your "Kentucky Dan" video. I live about 2 hours south of there in Tennessee, just north of Pickwick Dam. I've fished KY Lake many times as well as Pickwick.
Glad you've been with us for a while Gerald! I love the area you live in...can't wait to get back down that way in a few months. :)
Awesome flight!
Thanks Brent...glad you liked it!
Looking forward to Part 2!
Thanks John! Hope it didn't disappoint
Yes, very kool plane. And lovin your camo Green Bay Packer hat, okok being silly "Georgia"
That's right...go Dawgs!
Used to be 9-27. Did my ppl there in the mid 80’s. Hope you enjoyed KY Dam Village.
I love these guys.
Thank you!!
Best one yet!
Wow, Thank you Donnie!
Georgia. Go Dawgs! Enjoy your channel
Thanks Tim! Go Dawgs!
My wife and I flew in to there this weekend, our approach was the same as yours (except from the South) and I viewed this video before we left just to get a sight picture.
Glad to have shown it ahead of time for you. I do the same when I fly places sometimes (SnF, Gaston's, etc). Hope ya'll had a good time there, we sure did. If you liked that, check out Rough River, KY one of these days. The cabins and stuff are very close to the airport.
Wow! Jamie looks like a Rockstar!
Always. :)
That engine monitor is reaaaal nice
I love it! One of my favorite upgrades so far.
Great music with your vids....don't change it.
Thanks.
Great video! I've been a fan for a few months. After 22 years in the enlisted Air Force, I'm changing career paths myself. I'm a GSE (Ground Support Equipment) mechanic but have been in the upper level management for the past 15 years. The coolest part of most of your videos is a two part, one that you guys team up, and the other thing is you're a Dawg Fan!! Love it! My wife is terrified to fly, but she's willing to come along when I have more hours under my belt. I started my dream in 86, but came from a blue collar family. I joined with hopes to finish and get paid to fly. Just two weeks ago, after 19 years (officially started in 1999, cause I was paying for it) I passed my FAA PPL SEL written. I was scared to death to take that thing! Any ways, enough of my babble, would love to hear your story! Safe travels and thanks for sharing your adventures with all of us!
Glad you liked the video! Congrats on passing your PPL written!! Good luck on finishing up your PPL. Go Dawgs!! I'm sure you and your wife will have lots of fun flying adventures of you own. :)
Cool video guys!
Thank you!
Good afternoon to you both and I'm buckle in
I remember flying into KD back in the early 70's. All there was was an area to tie down your plane, an open sided shelter and a telephone on a pole to call the lodge to come get you. One of the staff would pick you up in the Suburban and you tipped the driver well.
I ENJOYYOUR VIDEOS JUST GREAT
Glad you are enjoying them Daniel!
Lucky man! that's one BEAUTIFUL LADY!!
Yes I am and YES she is!!
Reference your breakfast trip to BMI a while back. I flew into BMI last Wednesday and CJ's is now closed. The place at DEC just closed within the last couple of weeks too; not good. Good trip video!
Hey Don, I just heard the about them closing. Too bad...it was a good breakfast spot. Didn't know about DEC though. I hate hearing about the on airport food places closing but thanks for the heads up. Glad you liked the trip!
Nice view and explanation of your 6 pack you forgot the main instrument, Jamie
Been following your videos for awhile. Enjoying the rides. Are you on a IFR of VFR clearance?
You must've been pleased to get up to 7000
and i like the G5 with all that info on it. Don't know if i was seeing things but was that someone making a funny face at the camera ?? Now ill watch part 2.
Hey Spiro, 7000 was nice and smooth with a favorable wind. Jaime can be goofy. :)
Kevin, enjoyed this video. Nice flying as usual. Is Jaime a pilot? She sure is good on the radios. All the best to you and your family. Mike USAF (Ret)
Mike, thanks for your service! Jaime is not a pilot...she is a controller...hence her skills on the radio. :)
Brilliant :-)
Thank you. :)
Magnetic north is on the move!
It's on the move faster than the FAA or Foreflight can keep up!
Sounds like they repainted the runway to the changed magnetic heading and didn't update the airport master record.
Nice! One possible suggestion......wait to retract gear if you have all that runway left! You had 2000' left to easily make a touch down with 500' in the event of engine shutdown.....Just an opinion! :)
Love KY Damn area. I’m originally from Paducah (PAH).
I agree...beautiful area with great people.
Largest man-made lake East of the Mississippi. Lake Barkley is just to the east. Thus “Land Between The Lakes”.
Good fishing and hunting there, brother. But, not so scenic as further east in TN.
I would suggest somewhere in, or near, the triangle formed by I-24, I-40, and I-75.
Beware that real estate near Nashville is crazy expensive. That’s why my lovely bride and I are looking on Center Hill Lake. There are two airports nearby: Smithville Municipal and Upper Cumberland Regional.
She does a nice job on the radios.
Thank you Paul...I agree. :)
Kevin, really appreciate you thinking out loud as you do stuff, the elaboration helps the uniniated. Know you can't be a boor to the old guard by narrating everything but the more the better. For example, we can never see your rudder work also looks like there is very little pull back on the yoke at rotate so wonder if there is something else affecting the elevators???
Thanks for the feedback Mark. Reference the rudder, I have a yaw damper on this aircraft and it controls the rudder in flight. It is just turned off for takeoff and landing where I will have to use the rudder to straighten the plane for the crosswinds. Reference the rotation, some planes need a more abrupt visible pull to rotate, my plane basically flies off the runway if the trim is set correctly with just a minor pull back.
Love watching ur video’s I feel I am in the back seat with you. Also you have very attractive and supporting wife. Please keep up the flights/videos for us all
Hey you guys really fly well together thanks for the dash tour. If you could at some stage tell us a little more about the 310 how long you have had her and did you have all the gizmos fitted or did it come with them. Thanks for bringing us along and cheers
Thank you Paul and glad you liked it! I try to take comments from here and address them on future flights. I will do your suggestion.
First of all great videos. I plan on starting my private pilot journey later this year. Can you tell me how many hours did you have under your belt before owning this twin? Did you own a single prior or just go right into the 310? Thanks in advance for your response.
Thank you Alexis and good luck on your private! I bought the plane a little over 1 year ago. It is the first plane I've owned....go big or go home I guess. :) I had about 1500 hours when I bought the plane with probably 500 or so multi time.
Helll yeah
He's just happy when you're with him Jamie. Alone no! with his wife or his kid yes! Thanks.
Just curious as an ASEL pilot, why do you run your SB engine richer? Thanks for sharing. Love you guys.
It's not actually richer. Regardless of the position of the red levers or the factory flow gauge, I actually keep them matched referencing my engine monitor with fuel flow and verify it every time I fill up. When you start flying twins you'll see that the levers are rarely perfectly matched to give matched performance. Thanks for watching and the question.
