"Dirt cheap in the secondhand market...$5-7k"
See, the problem with that statement is that with carburetors you can find project bikes in the $500-700 range where literally the only thing they need is to have the carbs cleaned. Fuel injection is great, but I seriously doubt that it is actually 10x as great. The only time I see that really being up for argument is when you need to have huge elevation changes on a trip, and even then it is pretty easy to adjust your fuel mixture at a gas station.

A 1985 shadow 500 I bought in 2019 as a run around beater and teacher bike for others that’s actually got a lot of attitude and is a hoot to ride, 30k miles 450 bucks. I’d be happy if it was my only bike. A 2004 cammed sportster1200 that’ll run 11 flat in the quarter mile for 3k with 15k miles. And a 1979 Yamaha xs750 special that was ridden 1 season has 3500 miles and parked in 1980 and now that I’ve refreshed it it’s basically new. Cost me 900 bucks.

wait whats wrong with a carb? a properly tuned carb can last a dang long time before you have to readjust it or replace it. and even then its only a couple hundred bucks and for something you really only have to do once a year or once every few years if you ride through the colder months like myself, its not that bad. unless you can do it yourself in which case its basically free. yeah its one more maintenance item to worry about but if im paying several thousand dollars less for a bike i really dont mind having to give her a few minutes of foreplay on a winter morning to get her going.

Saying carburetors suck proves you really really know absolutely nothing other than spending money. (Don't you own a bike shop?)

Skip everything said in this video and buy a bike for under 2 grand. Spend 5-7k fixing it up and resell for 4.5 grand. Stonks.

The Rebel reminds me of the Planet of the Apes when Taylor and Nova are finally ready to ride off into the unknown. Taylor wants to kiss Zira goodbye, and she says “all right, but you’re so damned ugly!”

    Uh...Hogly went to Rubber-Mounting the Motor in 2004. I bought a brandy-new 2006 883 Sporty in 2005 and managed to make that POS cost $10,000 !
It was for a female “friend” and she Never Once Rode It. (Meanwhile, I was riding and scaring myself on...a K-1200R.)

Yammie noob and co or pretty much any millennial, scared to death of Carbs. The Sportster as a cheap bike? Sure the same bike they attempted to make fast, spending a ton on it and then quietly forgetting the bike existed until it was given away. BTW, it was still slower than a stock Indian. A DRZ 400 and no carbs? I guess you have the ultra rare EFI DRZ?

rubbermounted sportster is not 2014 it's 2004. You have now insulted the internet and must suffer! Prepare for pain!
