The main reason the RPK was adopted and replaced the RPD was that they wanted something g closer to an automatic rifle then a conventional SAW (same reasoning behind the M27 IAR, although the M249 it's augmenting/replacing might seem closer to an RPD at diest glance on the spectrum of automatic rifle with the BAR at the extream end and the SAW with something like the MG4 at the other side) the M249 is closer to the IAR/RPK then the RPD given features like the overall lighter weight, compact size and ability to use STENAG magazines as needed), the RPK was intended to mainly function as part of the infantry squad as a light, mobile force multiplier where the RPD, although similar, was closer to a full sized PK or M60/M240 as a more base of fire implementing weapon, the RPK is super useful in airborne drops and marine landings (reflected by the PKP becoming more common in traditional infantry formations while lighter, specialized troops maintain larger numbers of RPKs today), it's built around the idea of a lighter, maneuverable infantry squad with something able to provid a base of fire and keep up compared to the more German style strategy of the squad functioning around the machine gun (useualy a GPMG), easiest way to look at it is intermediate machine guns are a slider, one side is the BAR, one side is the MG4, the M27 and RPK are almost all the way next to the BAR but slightly closer to the MG4 side due to the common use of slightly larger then standard magazines, the M249 is close to the center but leaning towards the BAR as it's built lighter and can more easily organically fit into the squad as it can take regular magazines if needed, the RPD is right next to the MG4, sorry for any confusion but I hope this helps some people get a better understanding on the design intent behind these weapons

When I first used the rpk, I was crying and complaining about how heavy it was but I was getting kills. Until I started unlocking attachments, I made the gun light as possible and I was very pleased with it. Rpk 1. Whatever red dot sight 2. 30 round mag 3. Incendiary rounds
I dunno if I think this gun is very GOOD, but I like to use it anyway because I like how it goes "dadadadadadadadadadadadada" and that's what really matters
You can get the rpk to handle decently by sticking on the 30 round mag ads laser and short barrel at which point you have a gun you can be aggressive as hell with and even win cqc gunfights
@@kingjohn8980 Yeah, but unfortunately charcoal camo doesn't apply to all the weapon, leaves the wood and other weapon parts in the original color. I use Magma Digital to paint all black the weapons, it has a little of red, but is one of the few that actually paints all the gun black. Charcoal should do that too, but seems devs are lazy.

As a current In-N-Out employee I can confirm that most, if not all the male associates play, and talk about COD, and how its the best game ever, and is somehow more realistic than any other game.
I can already *feel* the streamers and data researchers coming in with "AKSHUALLY the RPK is an extremely consistent LMG for damage in the game, with incredibly controllable recoil and attachments that you allow you to mimic the handling of an AR, and that's why everyone uses it in WZ2"... ...but I'm not saying that. Nuh-uh. I'm just saying that someone else is gonna say it.
the fact that this is one of only 2 guns in the AK family with a side mount for optics bothers me so much i just throw a lighter stock, barrel, and mag on this and pretend it's the AK-47 lol
I still don't get why they renamed the AK tree to Kastov cause the name isn't trademarked far as I'm aware (though perhaps it's some sort of way to mark it as one of made up aftermarket brands call of duty has come up with)
the acronym AK is not. The NAME Kalashnikov is. I don't know why they couldn't have just named them the acronyms I guess they wanted to seem more realistic except there is not "Kalashnikov 7.62" in real life among other guns so why even do that
I think you should just use a script from a relevant Insurgency video and just swap out ‘Sandstorm’ for ‘COD’ and see how long it takes for people to notice
I mean you can do this to an actual rpk and as far as I'm aware it might actually cause ballistics issues due to different receiver and trunion construction. It's the same way where if you cut off the barrel of a normal AK-74 to make an AKS - 74u you actually mess it up because the real one has different fittings and a different barrel turn to negate the muzzle flaring you'd get.
That's kind of how I build mine. Under folder stock, muzzle brake, 40 round mags, ak barrel, the red laser the enemy can see when I ads because I don't pre aim like a bitch so they only see when I'm aiming at them. The 600 rpm makes the recoil so easy to control that landing two headshots back to back within 20m is not uncommon. Makes for a really fast ttk.
I can't freaking stand the weapon box in this game. It looks dumb. Just a big flat glossy surface that the guns are slightly sunk into. Its awful, the MW19 one was so much better looking.
I think we can all agree that the best part of Sick Snipes' Call of Duty videos is the cruise missile sounds.

I have the RPK 100% built for mobility and even without recoil controlling attatchments, it's extremely controllable

I like how this is the only AK variant in the game that gets the side-mount instead of a pic-rail on the top cover.
