I have the impression,When The Boys came out, it was the (pretty rare) occasion where people start noticing that GG could do what the boys do (achievement wise). They were the early ones from girl group that could surpass boy groups achievements so the vibe is pretty much like ‘bring the boys out, we aint scared’ or so i got.
About MR TAXI,FYI: On the original version Sooyoung wrote and recorded a rap in Japanese during the little dance break, but it got cut out of the final recording. This was also the first Japanese single specifically written for the Japanese market. All the previous singles were remakes of the Korean hits. They eventually dropped a Korean version on a re-packaged version of The Boys in Korea.

FACT !!! When SM released teasers for "The Boys" , other companies postponed their groups’ comebacks even boygroups.
The Boys was the best-selling album in kpop, defeating male groups and taking the best awards of the year as Artist of the Year at the MAMA, Song of the year, Album of the Year and Best Girl Group at SBS MTV best of the best, win GDA....
SNSD is LENGEND - is National Group of KOREA.
The Song itself the boys literally says how SNSD career history made change in K-pop the only GG broke BG records and manage to surpass the biggest BG at their time. Being on top for so long is such a legendary.
Ps. The only GG comeback era that make others comeback to be delay due to didn't want to release at the same week with SNSD ❤

The issue with today's kpop is everyone is trying to be overly hardcore, cute or sexy. Back then it was about confidence. They knew they had the talent and it shone through in everything. No need to be anything g they were.
You should watch their Run Devil Run performance....the way their positions change constantly is fascinating to watch 😂
