But the tempo marking is "nicht schnell". Is this "nicht schnell"? If it is, how fast would one expect "schnell" to be?

​​​@@henrykaspar3634Well, the performance here is played at 159 beats per minute which my metronome says is "allegro" which is normally translated as "fast" and hardly a tempo associated with the solemnity Bruckner asked for when he wrote "feierlich, nicht schnell".
My metronome puts the upper limit on "moderato" as 120 bpm and I would respectfully suggest that the movement should go no faster than that.

Before Bruckner died he wrote down a list of preferred versions of his symphonies. So stop wasting time with a non-issue.
