As a Christian myself, it is me, I'm the homosexual you are talking to online.
On a serious note, being a queer Christian sure is wild. Seeing other "Christians" hate people for being the way they are in the name of the same God I believe in is upsetting though.

LOL. My mother divorced BECAUSE she'd finally realized all the prayer and submitting in the world wouldn't change my emotionally/verbally abusive father. It took her years to get out of the whole "good Christian wife puts up and shuts up" thing and it was only when the continued abuse of both of us affected me that she really got things going.
There would be more divorces in Christian communities if women weren't taught that they have to pray for their abusers.

I left the Baptist Church in 2000 because of something like that. My Mom left my Dad because he had a lot of drug problems at the time. Well, my sister and I were going to this Baptist church in Pigeon Forge TN, and my Mom decided to come with us (it was a rare Sunday that she didn't have to work). The preacher's wife came up to her and the first question she asked was "Where's your husband at?" My Mom explained that she had left him. The preacher's wife said that the marriage was more important than anything else (she left my Dad mostly for my safety), and that she could talk to my Dad and, if my Mom apologized for breaking up their marriage, see if my Dad would take her back. My Mom told her to go fuck herself and walked out. My sister and I followed. And since then, I've never stepped in another church with the exception of funerals.

It's not about a threat of hell. But because the price of sin shed God's blood, we seek to stamp it out, born of gratitude to Christ's generosity. An innocent man bearing sin's sting that a guilty one may turn their life around. For I was not free. The pull of evil prevented me from doing anything good, were it not for Christ's sacrifice, allowing us to commune with the Holy Spirit, experienced mainly as amplified sensitivity to right and wrong. For if evil stopped on the large scale of raping, stealing and murdering, then I would be blameless, but to entertain them on television, or to not intervene when they happen before our eyes, we share in the guilt even if we've "done nothing" - a coward, living in fear and not standing up for what's right. Evil prospers when the "good" do nothing. If you are not interested in wiping out evil right to the mental level, then you are not a true follower of Jesus Christ, for you are content merely to prune the overly lengthy branches of evil, but not pull the plant out of the ground completely. Otherwise it's no different than a quadriplegic version of Adolph Hitler. It's important, because if we are to be permitted to live for infinite time, it's long enough for the slightest spark of evil to mature to full grown blaze.

i grew up christian, but in a catholic school. my parents are extremely religious
and when i was being traumatized and crying every day for an entire year (i wish i wasnt kidding), i was incredibly religious and prayed as much as i could, praying for a friend or someone to understand me or for my dad to just listen and try to understand what i was going through
but every single time, i was met with silence. at the age of 10, my prayers went from "please, give me strength to keep going" to "god can you please kill me in my sleep"
because i was so tired and mentally exhausted that i just.. i wanted to end it and i think the only reason i didnt was because i didnt know how.
it eventually ended, but not after i was broken, my relationship with my father destroyed, i developed severe depression that many years later i am still struggling with, and since i was struggling so badly, i wasnt able to process any of my education due to the stress. to this day, i still struggle with multiplication. its like skipping a grade.
after that i was still religious, but just out of fear. i was almost certain that hell couldn't have been as bad as what i went through, but i was still terrified of what literally everyone told me about hell. it felt like i was being forced onto my knees to submit to a god who left me to die.
and if youre curious about what exactly was so traumatizing that itd have that much of an effect on me,, i couldnt tell you.
my mind has almost *completely* blocked it from my memory. i only have one strong memory, little bits and pieces of like, screenshots, and rantings from me, years after it happened (think 12-13) while i was sizzling with anger at the god i was forced to trust.
im almost an atheist just because i hate him, not because i dont believe in him. maybe the bible is true (i wouldnt bet on it, though), but the interpretations that christians and catholics have must be way off, or theyre very right and we are living in a dystopia where our creator is a selfish, greedy, hateful god.
    anyways, thats it really
edit: if youre curious, my parents know that im no longer a christian, and my mom seems like shes trying to seed in little bits of religion in our conversations, but i can shut it down. my dad sat me down and talked to me about how he never had the chance to not be a believer, since his mom was so harsh with him, and said that he'll let me explore, and be able to find myself, instead of hammering religion into my head. gave me the story of how he became a believer a few days after in the car, but hes still accepting. its better than it could be.

This basically implies that they didn't have anything in their brain that was connected to nakedness either. They were like children. The point is not whether a religous figure loved someone, but that the original commenter and their family loved each other!
They spoke to someone who acted as a bridge between greif of loss and memories of love. The love that these family members had for each other is the focal point, not the religion that showboats it. Hells, if you made the religion any other one, it would still work! Jewish, Catholic, Muslim- hells, even the Greek Gods! None of it changes the story.
Religions aren't inherently meaningful- They are given meaning. By comforting someone from their grief, By giving people a new perspective, By being a safe place for those who are scared or lost or alone.
Jesus might love someone, but what matters more is the love that family had for each other.
I'm sorry for the comment length, but I feel it's important to say anyway. I could be responding to a Bot for all I know, but I don't really care. At least I put my thoughts on religion into writing, and that brings me some comfort.

Well, technically, after Germanic gods. We just know the Norse ones best because they were the ones most distant from christian centers, and thus Norse documentation survived best. the Old English form of Freya was Friġ, pronounced approximately 'freey', from whence, yes, Friday. Then there's Tuesday, which is after Tiw, the god of war. you might be more familiar with him under the name Tyr.
Thursday, on the other hand, is more likely to be originally from Old Norse than Friday and Tuesday, since our version of the Thunder god was Thunor.
And, as someone else mentioned, there's Woden, the Old English form of Odinn, for Wednesday, hence why the damned thing is spelt like that instead of 'Wensday'.
