People die while collecting enough money to start living. We are told to keep grinding and hustling until retirement, but nobody warns us of all the living we could miss out on if we take that advice.
We are told to choose a career to make a living, but all too often that career comes to define us and become our identity. Many reach retirement age and keep working because work is all they know. In the western world, we most often have heart attacks on the weekend. Even when we aren’t clocked in at work, there is always something more to get done. There never seems to be time to slow down and smell the flowers?
Is it ever enough? We can always be better, make more money, improve our status, get more power… but what is the point of any of it if we’re too busy working to put down the cell phone and enjoy life?
Building our #tinyhome has been an extraordinary experience, but the #cobhouse has also distracted us from living in the present by getting caught up with self-imposed deadlines. One of our favorite things about #vanlife was waking up each morning without a plan. It forced us to live in the moment 100%.
We are not promised tomorrow! It may be a cliche, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Now is the moment to find time for ourselves and to prioritize peace in the present moment.
