What's the craziest thing you've ever seen on the boat ramp?
Exactly what you just saw. GI had a brand new boat. First trip out. Wife was backing in, hit the breaks too hard and it slid off and hit the ramp
Saw a guy leave his 4 year old in the truck while he backed the boat off, sure enough the little boy kicked the emergency break off and down went the truck & trailer plus a mess of stuff off the back of his truck. Luckily he left the windows down & the boy swam out. Could have drowned. We were all running to the rescue! 🙏🏼
I've had my boat for 4 years now. I forgot my transom straps last time. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out how much of a dumbass I was, lol. As far as the craziest thing I've ever seen.. I was slowing down about 20 feet from the rock wall at Lakeview, a boat passed me at 40 mph on the right as I started my turn into the marina. Closest to an accident I've ever had.
So many boaters don’t know to turn their headlights off when in the ramp. It’s blinding to those trying to back the trailer down. Thanks for these tips!!!🛥🎣

No matter how experienced you are never be in a hurry! I've made mistakes trying to launch for tournaments trying to go as fast as you can. Left the transom saver on the back once, forgot to turn on my navigation lights, and yes didn't secure the plug - I put it in but fell out as I was backing down.

Everyone who is hardcore boating.. being fishing or pleasure.. has left on a transom saver or two

I have had my drama on the ramp; I had the trailer break loading the boat and several curses were said.
I may be guilty of drinking beer at the marina on holiday weekends and watching the drama.
THANK YOU this needs to be watched by every boat owner. My routine is the same as yours. Most of the time my son is with me and i will back the boat and he drives the boat, we are on the ramp for maybe a minute.

Great info! It's amazing how many people who can't launch their boats correctly. I usually put my drain plug in before I leave home unless it's raining and then check it again when I get to the ramp. Also, I keep a spare drain plug in the boat.

Great video Chad. I sure wish all the people who bought boats last year that never owned a boat would watch this. How's skeeter been doing in the boat. That's about the way my dog does but he's about 50 times more hyper lol

Chad I spray my bunk boards with 100% silcoun spray. It makes that boat slide off real easy. And like you said..Do Not...Do Not unhitch that tow strap until you have that boat backed into the water.

I'm still not sure.. but I lost a tackle box last year.. don't know if it was stolen or I slacked on my loading routine(which I do not do ever) but my cat box is gone..

@@Catfishedge I bet My female doodle loves the truck the center arm rest is HERS!!! But at 30 minutes in she throws up. I can't imagine what she would be like on the water. Now my male doodle never has gotten car sick
I have a friend that has a hunting dog that does that and he got some meds from the vet that fixed it.

@@Catfishedge First Chad i wanted to say Thanks for all the vids...we really enjoy them! But my question is with needing leader line to be abrasion resistant how come you never hear of people using the steel leader lines? I know the quick clips aren't real great but those can be changed. I'd think that a steel leader line would be way better than anything else. You NEVER hear anyone mention them! Why?
