I can't thank you enough for posting these videos. I recently became obsessed with Django and Bireli and these are by far the most helpful vids I have come across. Thank you infinitely!
thankyou. this is very very well explained. ive watched a fe of your videos and think you teach it brilliantly, you have earned my youtube subscription and my attention!!! I just recently fell in ove with gypsy jazz, and all the other videos explaining it only confused me in so many ways, with some technical jazz mumbo jumbo without the actually feel for it or a simple underlying layout to grasp the style. thank you very much. :)
Sven, my dude, can you do me the favor of a lifetime and make a video on the proper chords for Festival 48? That's my favorite gypsy jazz tune of all time and I'd really like to know how to play it legitimately. Regardless, I love this channel and your instructional are great!! Thanks!
Marvellous and very well explained, Sven. You should think about a meeting with northern Germany s clarinet- mega -expert Martin Schmidt-Hahn. He s got a warm clarinet-sound for swing and gypsy -swing
You are amazing Sven, i Love joscho stephan trio and you are the most important piece in the band! What kind of microphone use in your guitar?and what kind of guitar pick are you using? Blessings
Great lesson I'm in the market for a gypsy guitar but I don't know much about gypsy guitars and love the tone of yours, what model is it? Thanks again for the lesson!
It is just a different way to play the same chord by shuffling the notes around. The b "half diminished" also called "minor7 flat 5" chord has the same notes as the d minor6 chord. So it gives you a different choice for variety and/or a different sound for your d minor6 chord. Hope I didn't step on your toes Sven, this is a good lesson with some cool ideas.
I'm using it alternatively. :) Anyway, just for the record, I still think that this video is the best offer here about Minor Swing chord progression. Thank you for the feedback! :)
yes, me too. there are a lot of possibilities to increase the harmonies. actually you could you could use any possible turnaround in minor like: Am / F7 E7 Am C6 / Bm7b5 E7 Am F7 / Bb7 E7 Am G / F7 E7 and in measure 9 you could play Dm /G7/ C6/ F6 / Bm7b5 /E7/ and turnaround. and of course you can play A7 or C#dim before Am moves to Dm Am / Am C#dim / Dm anyway. this is for beginners. if you know how to play in a session. then you don't need videos like these ;) and if you don't know the style, it's better to stick to the original recording first. I mean I can of course play whatever variation in that style. but it would be far to much for one vid ;)
In that video, I don’t remember but I play wegen picks 2,5mm Sometimes even between 3 - 5 mm by Killy Nonis, that’s typical to achieve the idiomatic sound!
Amazingly simple and cool!
Your explanations are excellent! Very few people can do this. Short, down to the point, you bring on many references. Just great work. Thank you !
Oh wow. I really wish I would have found this a while ago. Thank you!

I looked at the clock in the video to see how long I was procrastinating for.. I thought it was almost midnight...
great lesson Sven, I got a little confused at the chord at 1.15, the rest was crystal clear though :)

Nice! I don't know have you noticed, but in some ends of the forms instead a Bb7 is also an F7. Try that
of course, I know! but the original Django Version is with Bb.
For a lot of beginners it's also irritating, giving to much variations.

I'm using it alternatively. :) Anyway, just for the record, I still think that this video is the best offer here about Minor Swing chord progression. Thank you for the feedback! :)

Wow! That's what I'm talking about. Thank you, Sven!
May I know what kind of plectrum you are using, like what is the thickness, how hard is it?
In that video, I don’t remember but I play wegen picks 2,5mm
Sometimes even between 3 - 5 mm by Killy Nonis, that’s typical to achieve the idiomatic sound!
Hey from Madrid, spain. I'm interested in get the minor Swing tab for Bass, i`m Bassist. Do you know where i could found it?

Hi Sven
What stimer would you recommend for the epiphone masterbilt deluxe?
gypsyguitar.de/pickupamp/stimer/11328/stimer-48-von-maurice-dupont
But I don't know if that's cool for your Epiphone, cause I don't know that model!
Do you have any thoughts on how to use the Flamenco scale over these changes? Thanks! Great vid.
Thank you! ;-)
