  • Many Irish dairy farmers have embraced sustainable practices and are focused on producing high-quality, nutritious food while minimizing their environmental impact. Creating a greater future built on sustainability is where our future is, and the Hayden family from Tinahely in County Wicklow take us on their journey of best practices.
Hayden’s family farm is home to 220 dairy cows which supplies over 1.4 million litres of milk annually to Tirlán Coop. Proud to be the international guest farm for the Baileys Irish Cream brand, Joe Hayden tells us the role they play in creating a balancing act not just between food production and the care of the environment, but also in doing what is right.
Incorporating greater energy efficiency and smart technology into the farm from the recent installation of a 46 unit Dairymaster Swiftflo Rotary parlour allows for the betterment of milking the cows, welfare of the animals and less time spent in the parlour. Dairymaster has always put a strong emphasis on creating smarter solutions for dairy farming.
Listen to this insightful story of how life in Ireland can continue with the richness of Family Farming!

This is a farmer's right here that Eamon Ryan should have a chat with, exceptional farm of land and a maintained to the highest standard, also his cows are a picture of health and happiness, without these farmers well all be very hungry

He needs to stop being brainwashed by the sustainability buzz word, he even admits it’s the new buzzword but still falls for it. Does he know that the psychopaths that are pushing this sustainability nonsense don’t want him farming?

I live on the Isle of Wight and when I started milking cows in the late 70's there were over 100 dairy farms on the Island, now in 2023 there are less than 8. It is so sad that farming has gone this way. Not only for the farmers but for people like myself who spent their childhood dreaming of owning their own dairy to then see it declining so fast.

Irish family farming is dead, factory farms owned by families worked by outside labour is the new normal

Where are you getting this from?

You would be surprised! In our experience, even though there are some large installations with external labour hired, many are still family farms. Even in this case, Joe works with his family most of the time, despite it being such an impressive setup! Thanks for your valuable comment, Dairymaster Marketing Team
