As a callow youth knocking about in the early 70s to and fro around London, I always found it to be a very sedate and civilised city. Shepherds Bush, Earls Court, Putney, Haringey, Wembley. I never had any bad experiences, muggings or anything of the sort. In fact, people often seemed to go out of their way to be helpful. Maybe it's just my radiant nature that attracted them. 😄

Thank you WW. The properties are stunning, the streets are so quiet. Hampstead is lovely and those very narrow little walk-ways reminded me of St.Ives in Cornwall. There seemed to be a lot of reference to Holly, I wonder why?

A beautiful, truly pleasant walk. I like Belsize a lot but certain corners of Hampstead are unbeatable. Very elegant houses and I wonder: are there still natives who live there? With the winds blowing between England and Scotland I'm no longer sure. Roots and traditions must not be lost: please do what you can.
