HOW BALLAS TOOK OVER GROVE ST. IN GTA 5? In-Depth Analysis
GTA San Andreas players will recognize this familiar location. It was initially home to the Grove Street Families. However, that's not the case for GTA 5 since the Ballas have taken control. Some users were saddened to learn what happened to the Grove Street Families in that game.
However, they should keep in mind that GTA 5 comes from a separate continuity than GTA San Andreas. Hence, CJ's efforts weren't in vain because he does not exist in GTA 5's timeline.
GTA 5 gamers will head to Grove Street during the mission Safari Hood. They will quickly find out that it's nothing like GTA San Andreas. The Ballas have now taken the territory all for themselves, leaving fans to wonder where it all went south for the Grove Street Families.
GTA San Andreas and GTA 5 both feature the same gangs. These games are also set in the state of San Andreas, particularly in Los Santos. However, neither game takes place in the same timeline. Therefore, the events of GTA San Andreas are not canon in GTA 5, and vice versa.
Rockstar Games has divided its games into multiple continuities, based on the following years they were made:
2D Universe: 1997-19993D Universe: 2001-2006 (includes GTA San Andreas)HD Universe: 2008 - present-day (includes GTA 5)
While a few characters have made appearances in different timelines, each universe is distinct from the other. The Ballas didn't take over Grove Street in the 3D Universe, but they certainly did in the HD Universe.
Rockstar chose to tell a different story with Grove Street. It's unknown whether or not CJ is a part of the HD Universe. Of course, his absence could explain a lot in GTA 5.
Theoretically, GTA 5 didn't have a counterpart to CJ, who was entirely responsible for Grove Street's resurgence. After Big Smoke's rise to power in GTA San Andreas, the Grove Street Families were nearly wiped out.
CJ is the main reason why Grove Street even survives. His efforts allow them to rebuild and fight back against the Ballas. Perhaps GTA 5 didn't have their version of CJ. This meant the Ballas had no significant rivals to worry about. Grove Street would become theirs for the taking.
Franklin and Lamar did bring up an interesting subject in GTA 5's story mode. According to the latter, the original Grove Street Families had left gangbanging behind them. He speculates that some of them have become powerful CEOs.
This could be a reference to how CJ rose to power in places like San Fierro and Las Venturas. Unlike the OGs from GTA 5, CJ didn't forget where he came from, eventually returning to Los Santos and rebuilding his entire gang. - Hry
Carl wanted nothing to do with the hood, anyway. He had so many other interests outside of it. It’s not hard to see he went after those interests, rather than those of the hood. Carl Johnson is very much ALIVE.

Nah cj just killed all the Ballas and Vagis it was easy for him cause he ould break into military bases all by himself and kill highly trained soldiers so these thugs were a cakewalk then he kept all his business ventures going and expanded on them while Grove street families became the most powerful gang in Los Santos by Default and GTA V is not connected to GTA SA so that's why Ballas and vagus still exist there and took over a Grove street that looks nothing like the real Grove street 💀
I don't really know HOW they took over Grove Street but I have a theory. In the finale mission, we hear Maddog say "We're going on tour" that means CJ, Sweet and everyone else visited somewhere else. Meaning that Grove was a little bit weaker. We don't exactly know where Cj and he's friends went but, I am assuming that the ballas came too Grove started attacking areas then Grove was basicilly gone. After that CJ and he's friends probably ran of again. This is my theory.

Cj and his family got rich. He had multiple business, casino stakes, music business, car mechanic. I believe cj got rich and they moved out the hood. Over time the hood was ran different, people started set tripping renegading etc or click hopping for awhile until new gangs form new generations come along. A lot of things play a factor

Cj had enough money and connection to not have to need grove st. Mostly Sweet got a life sentence or was killed, Kendall is in San Fierro running the shop, and Cj is in Las Ventura running the casino.

Gentrification, money & drugs led to Ballas takin over Grove St. plus, CJ didnt stay long after they killed Lil Weasel. he moved back to the East, where he already had prior business. he only came back cause his mom died. once he got revenge for that, he was done. not to mention, havin Rider & Smoke switch up, made him lose his love/trust for the hood. which led to him & Sweet havin a fallen out as well. Sweet went back to the drug game, while CJ started businesses in Liberty City. he even has some reestate in LS. Sweet ended up gettin smoked in a shootout at a car wash in late 92’ ..after that, the homies lost direction. started gettin high. inner beefin. switchin hoods. which made them hella vulnurable to the opps. by 1993, with all the muscle of GSF gone, the Grove was easily taken by Ballas.
Moving back to Liberty City would not be a good idea, The Leone family is after him after he betrayed them and robbed the casino, and they would be a dominate for in LC until GTA:3, if CJ was in LC during the 90s then he'd be taken care of by a leone hitman, but if he went into business with the SF Triads in venturas he would be much better protected long enough for the Leone family to be severely weakened and the don to be taken out in 2001.

I mean, CGF and The Families were never a strong gang, in San Andreas They occupy only a small area of the map and constantly lose turf without cj's help, if CJ was not a superhuman, they would not be able to hold Grove Street for long. And that actually happened, CJ retired/left CGF or just pursued a different carreer and without their main firepower, CGF just scattered/took different grounds.

It's because CJ very likely finished up his beef with crash and smoke and the other gangs and moved on. As sweet says when ryder is talking shit about CJ during a car ride (i don't remember which one) CJ "practically turned the grove around by himself". When it comes down to it, I have no doubt in my mind that sweet is to blame for the GSF collapse, he was a terrible leader, weak willed despite being loyal, and very, very narrow minded. Let's just consider for a moment that BOTH stories happen EXACTLY how they did in San Andreas, CJ ties up all his loose ends and then tries to leave again. Sweet, being the bitch he is, views this as a betrayal and cuts ties because he's proven before to be hateful when CJ tries to better himself. Sweet is pretty much the only Grove Street OG left (not including unnamed Sevile Boulevard and Temple Families OG'S) and without Ryder, Smoke, and now CJ, Sweet slowly begins to lose power and either loses grip over the families causing them to shatter apart just like they did when cj left the first time, or more likely because i personally despise sweet, He gives in to the drug trades out of fear of losing power and jealousy over his brother's success. That scene with the whore shows that when sweet is backed against a wall he stops giving a shit and i have no doubt that without the superhuman that is CJ he'd have no choice but to turn to the drug trade to compete with the ballas. At this point, Everything the Grove Street Families stood for is gone, and despite sweet's attempts to keep the gang together it splinters apart, and without CJ's ferocity and leadership, and the weakened gang, Grove Street goes under.. just like it did when CJ went on his "world tour" and sweet got arrested. The ballas just had to walk in and take it because they felt like it. The ultimate icing on the cake that is sweet's incompetence.
CJ probably really wanted a life just outside gangs and LS in general, probably SA if possible. But he has a soft spot for his family, something Sweet exploited heavily.
Let's remind ourselves: what did Sweet do exactly before CJ came to SA? Lost his brother, slowing losing the gang because he can't control them nor their addiction, and now he lost his mom. So all he could do is basically make CJ feel bad and put the blame on him, because he knows he's much better than him in every way. And that shows later on when Sweet gets out of jail, which he doesn't show any gratitude to CJ for it, he still gets dragged by drugs and a simple whore luring him with some words. Like dude, don't you have a gang to lead?
I wouldn't be surprised if one day CJ has enough and just gets a one way ticket away from SA all together, and watch GSF just crumble to non existence.
Sweet was really stubborn and unreasonable. He was one of those dudes that just can't accept not dying for their hood or their flag. And CJ was the exact opposite of that, which annoyed him. He always gave CJ props for drive-by shootings and turf wars won against the Ballas, but becoming a business owner, a producer, and moving into mansion wasn't okay.
@@Zeroshiki Thats what almost happened to my brother, we were in los angelos a few years ago he had a girlfriend, i was with the 3 of them in a car, from time to time my brother used to sell drugs but his friend got mad because he was selling in the wrong turf and shot him 4 times while his girlfriend had to watch all that, i was in back of the car, the trauma is still hunting me still today but someday im going to leave this wretched scorched earth state, truly messed up, imagine getting killed just for respect, my brother lived because i called an ambulance before his friend shot him, but i dont think i will consider him a friend no more..

If you see how fast the turfs were taken over by Ballas when CJ had to bust to SF... Ballas were weakened by GSF, but not the Vagos. Vagos regrouped and allied themselves with Ballas, then handed over the Grove Street to Ballas.
I have a theory, after the events of San Andreas CJ leaves to star multiple businesses. While his brother Sweet stayed and lead the gang but eventually the Ballas would assassinate Sweet, the gang would have a new leader who was more pro drugs and not as competent as Sweet. The new leader would start doing the drug trade which caused more conflict with the Ballas, and the Ballas done an attack which weakened the GSF and they fell apart with members joining other gangs or internal conflict about drugs.
i think gta hd universe, the ballas did not kill cj's mother, killing sweet as they were suppose to, cj comming to his funneral and leaving without helping grove street to live back in liberty city, where he starts a toothpaste company

Carl maybe left for San Fiero or Venturas and became a CEO of some company. After he left Grove Street became weaker and Ballas attacked the hood. Maybe Sweet died while they were taking over

I personally think that the 3D universe is probably the same as the HD universe and I think that the overall story of GTASA is canon to GTA5, and here's why I think so;
One of the main dead giveaways is obviously, the Grove Street Families being a thing, and both Franklin and Lamar confirm this to be true too and not an urban myth. Furthermore, remember OG Loc? The wannabe rapper in GTASA who's CJ and Sweet's friend? He exists in GTA5 as well, and you can see one of hie CDs in Jimmy's bedroom in Michael's house, hinting that he likely rose to fame a couple years after GTASA's main story ended.
As for the fates of the other Family members like CJ and Sweet, you'll notice Franklin and Lamar talking about them after you pass that mission where they hit up Grove Street with Trevor for that cocaine brick and get swarmed by the Ballas. Lamar mentions those "old guys", not directly referencing them, but they both say that they got out of the hood and are likely living their best life out there somewhere, so it's anyone's guess where they are now, but they are all likely still alive and most probably retired.
OG Loc likely rose to fame a couple years after GTASA's main story ended? i don't want to sound rude but you should play San Andreas, it's a great game. He did rose to fame in the storyline, but the creators said the universes aren't the same, see it as an alternative universe thing. Video creator said the creators' opinions do not matter so don't know what to say.
What happened to Seville bolivar and temple drive though?also did Grove street get blown up and rebuilt worse in alone woth every other part of the city? And then las ventures and San fierro also got blown up and magically turned into a large empty forest in 21 years just like cause cities and landscapes change that much in real life too just like San Francisco and Las Vegas right?

Could be that the universes are different, but my best guess is a version of each of these guys still existed in the HD universe as well, but most likely, didn't meet a very happy end. As we can see, Grove Street is under the Ballas now, so maybe, and this is another theory of mine, but in the HD universe, their version of CJ, Sweet and basically all the Families members likely had a turf war with the Ballas, lost, and either got killed or were forced to give up their turf and leave. Their fates probably are just an alternate ending/bad ending type deal but who knows
@@irvinalexanderflores now this right here is another confusing mystery. In GTA 5's San Andreas map, San Fierro and Las Venturas don't exist. There is mention of them from pedestrians, but they aren't part of the map, so my best guess is Rockstar probably retconned them to not be part of the San Andreas state and probably pushed them elsewhere, because they still do exist, but not on the map. Las Venturas, especially, appears many times on the gambling shows on TV in GTA IV, but the stills shown are from GTASA

I played GTA 5 and I finally got the GTA TRILOGY last week I've played it for a while and got past the point where Cj killed Ryder & I'm now on the Rosie missions I have went back and visited Grove Street since Ryder was killed sweet went to prison & big smoke has been in hiding If you come back to Grove Street you'll notice many dope dealer's dealing drugs to people around the hood's even on Grove Street since they all left and if you look close ballas had been taking over that area since the late 90s over time the land development changing around the city because if you ask me GTA sandreas should have never changed in Gta5 the city was way bigger and created perfectly.. Gta5 ballas & families are soft compared to the ones in sandreas even the vagos & blue gang .... Those gangs back in sandreas had more heart and would come in your hood shooting at you now you can walk or drive by them in GTA 5 and they'll just stare or say something stupid to you then pull out there gun and wait for you to draw yours then start shooting..... Plus GTA sandreas has way more to do workout eat in restaurants more stores more land more places you can buy more activities more missions a better story line almost like a movie ... GTA 5 graphics and gun's are just better other than that Franklin character is cool and Lamar but there lame compared to cj big smoke Ryder & sweet... And the rest of the characters I wish Rockstar would remake sandreas and add onto it bringing back Cj and Franklin and Lamar meet up taking back Grove St reuniting the families again .. and I think Denise Franklin aunt Is same woman Cj met and that house is same house she lived in for years only difference is the door was blue now it's brown ... And all those different neighborhood's and palm trees are removed in gta5 cut down to smaller closer block's and house's I think Cj went back to liberty city and once that happened ballas continued to sell drug's and run down the new neighborhoods and take control that's why you see them in different areas of LS grove st etc... Davis & strawberry are not really the greatest hood like GV St was .... Naw Mara Bunta is MS13, they are from El Salvador. Their name is a play on "Mara Salvatrucha", but Mara Bunta Grande means army of big ants. if CJ didn't move on to Semi-Legitimate Business Ventures with SF Triads, a leone family assassin would eventually have took him & his family out for betraying the mafia and robbing their casino, as it would be very easy to find him at his neighborhood home and GSF don't really have the same connections to even know something like that was about to go down or protect him from a mafia hitman. if he was with the SF triads in venturas he would've had a better chance to survive long enough for most of the Leone family to be taking down by Claude in GTA:3

Lamar said that the old school leaders simply got rich and left that game. And that’s what happened. CJ was too busy with his investments and management career, and couldn’t care less about hood bullshit. The younger Grove street generation probably looked up to CJ much more in the sense of getting rich and move of the hood than keeping a stupid rule against dope dealing. In fact, they saw dope dealing as a way to mirror CJ’s success. This faction of young groves probably just aligned themselves with the ballas to sell dope or were took out by them on doing so.

If Sweet were convinced by Big Smoke to join CRASH and the crack game there never would’ve been a hit out out on him, Beverly Johnson never would’ve been murdered and CJ would’ve had no reason to return to Los Santos and would likely still be in Liberty City working with Joey Leone. So, the entire rabbit hole you go down there doesn’t really make sense. And it can’t be true that CJ stays in LC because of the book he is on the cover of in Lester’s house. We know that CJ is being watched by Cubans, Russians & American spies during his story as Toreno tells him that directly at the ranch in Tierra Robada, and that is why he ends up on the cover of a book titled “Surveillance.” CJ does not meet Toreno without returning to Los Santos and attempting to destroy the Loco Syndicate. So, we know for sure that Sweet does not bring GSF into the crack game in the GTA V universe.

CJ didn't die. The reason why he cannot be on GTA 5 is because of the dimention Franklin & the other protagonist is on 3D dimention & Rockstar has a rule that characters from 2D cannot cross 3D. So technically speaking if Rockstar add CJ on GTA 5 they have to do remodeling not to mention they have to reanimate CJ's movements the way he walks, talks, pick up objects, etc I don't think Rockstar just have the energy for that.
I’m pretty sure one of the guys in SA had issues with Rockstar, maybe it was CJ or Ryder but that’s actually why they aren’t involved
