Today we are unboxing 4 of the 7 guitars I got at the Estate360 auction in California. Since I’m not local, I had to use their shipping service which was a UPS Pack ‘N Ship. I’ve have mixed results with these shops. Some are REALLY good at what they do and are worth the premium you pay to have them packed. I paid about $300 a guitar and what they shipped all 7 of these guitars in was ATROCIOUS! 4 Guitars in a single walled box is just plain stupid. I feel scammed… but they all arrived safely so I guess I can’t complain too much.

TP-6 Adjustable Tailpieces are awesome! I have 3 Guitars with them installed on, Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, Explorer and SG Standard and they are so usefull for fine tuning on the fly. If you are a touring musician or do a ton of studio work they make string changes and fine tuning such a breeze. My Explorer never goes out of tune since I installed locking tuners and the TP-6. I am a very heavy handed rhythm player and strum fairly hard and it stays in tune for months. You can still find them in small Mom and Pops shops way cheaper than Gibson sells them online. I picked up my last one which is Gold for under 100.00.
This was a FUN episode Trogly! Loved your laughter and enthusiasm etc when you were wondering if you were going to win the auction after you felt you might have overbid etc! My two faves were the Lavender sparkle Les Paul and Angus Young SG. The music river ? Les Paul was a "meh" one for me I will eagerly watch the video on it and can't wait to see how it cleans up, the same with the frets and stuff on that Angus Young SG. Great episode and congrats on all your new purchases!
Wow the UPS big box gamble paid off with the awesome "Auction 4", congrats! I suspect a few of those control knobs got pressed down a bit, at least without any cracking. Glad no headstock/heel breaks. Looking forward to deep dives on those beauties.
Hey Austin’ abit late to this episode but so stoked for u getting those tail pieces! It’s that kind of thing that i love! Especially the old packaging! It’s so nostalgic and also it’s just so rad that it’s the old authentic packaging aswell’ if only we all had an unlimited budget 😂’ big love once again from New Zealand’ u should c the amount of crazy guitars over here that arrived back in the day’ it would blow your mind! And hey’ what’s the point in having friends if they can’t help each other out? U have a guy in Japan and now u have a fit in New Zealand and Australia if u need one! Its all for the cause ✌️🙌🎸🔥
Entertaining video this one. Really cheeky of them to charge you that huge shipping charge and then send it as one massive package.
What a haul?!!! all those guitars and parts appear to be fantastic. the shipping was definitely enough to make a person nervous, but you lucked out. it seems that all the UPS employees that handled them were careful. I wish I had the same luck as you do finding TP6 tailpieces? the Angus Young and the Lavender one were my favorites.
With UPS, the large and/or heavy packages load last and receive better handling overall. I do agree though, that was an overkill cost for one package. Especially packed the way it was. I did specialty packing at UPS and that would not have cheap but no more than $200 at the most.

I just watched you unboxing the guitars. When you pulled out the Music Rising Les Paul guitar, I love that guitar. I know of another one in New Orleans. It is the one that Edge played and it is in a Guitar Center in New Orleans. I’ve asked many times just to hold it, they just said no. I live southwest of the city. So enjoy that piece of Louisiana history.

Yeah, those boxes came in cardboard sleeves like that. It helps preserve the inner box when they are stacked up for shipping or storage.
Awesome scores there - can't wait to see the clean up job you do on these - maybe show that time lapse video on these guitars at a bit slower rate please.
That Katrina guitar looks a lot like the faded Les Paul standard 50’s neck that they had in production at the time. Those were the best sounding. So heavy. Almost as sweet as the Slash “Jessica” Les Paul.

I was think it’s kind of funny that that two-tone blue packaging for Gibson accessories from the 1980s looks like something from the late 1950s. Colors and the typography and everything…

So what is the yellow discoloration on the tuners of the lavender sparkle LP? That really stuck out to me. Just curious.
I've been finding USPS has been good. I always find UPS and FedEx guys wondering around my neighborhood looking like a Monte Python skit. USPS people have been here forever. They seem to be more conscientious and familiar than the corporate guys.
That might be cool for someone to come up with - black frets.

Agufish got burned by an ebay seller on his birthday les paul. Bad headstock repair and a refret job from hell every other fret uneven.
I finally bought on Reverb and my purchase is listed as delayed with no expected delivery date. Also UPS, which used to be reliable. Lately, they are crap.
Oooof. I just recently bought on reverb for 1st time and it went GREAT! I only got a set of pickups though...
I have actually used a tp6 tailpiece to counter neck dive. It worked.

I was lucky enough to pickup that Martin John Mellencamp out of this auction. Absolutely exquisite guitar. I have owned quite a few nice Martin guitars in my life, and it sounds as amazing as any guitar I have ever heard. Drove up from LA to pick it up and got to see all those guitars stacked up in person. Quite impressive to say the least. Congrats on your new beauties!

It’s not. It is only supposed to look like someone slapped some paint on it haphazardly
