I have a preteen nostalgia for Despicable Me 2. I remember that movie being the shit with the kids back in my sixth grade class. Everytime my teacher didn't want to do her job and teach she would just put on this movie or if not, then perhaps The Lorax or Hotel Transylvania. Those two other movies were also the shit during my early middle school years. And when the "Happy" song came on in the movie the whole class would just go crazy forcing the teacher to just stop the movie. I recently rewatched all the minions and Despicable Me movies in chronological order last weekend and just like how I felt with the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies, these movies I can clearly say were movies isolated to their time. Exclusive to the 2010s zeitgeist. Minions are to the 2010s like what Shrek was to the 2000s.
