  • Our 2004 Corvette C5 Z06 project finished out another season at NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, KY-right across the highway from the plant where it was built-with a strong performance at the Tire Race SCCA Time Trial Nationals.
Our best single lap of the weekend of 2:11.705 seconds was nearly four seconds faster than our 2018 best at the same track, and good enough to be the fourth fastest overall single lap of the event. That was good enough for a fifth place overall finish in the event of nearly 200 entrants.

Thanks guys. It took me a while to get used to the car, but I feel like I'm getting on top of the learning curve at this point.

Do you notice any difference in the driving with/without the aero? Overall how would you rate this car on the track?

I have never driven a corvette, the front grip seems very good. Like every racer in the world would say: it needs more power, the acceleration from 100mph is not astounding. The driver is good. Personally I like to go through every gear when I heal and toe instead of going down from 4th to 2nd with a big blip but the stopwatch doesn’t always agree with me on that.

Front grip is good but the steering feedback is terrible. It takes some real getting used to before you learn to trust it on harsh turn-ins. And, yeah, more power is definitely in the works. Sitting right next to our 535hp crate motor that's getting ready to go in as soon as we get the transmission back from the rebuilder :)

Also, the GPS was glitching like crazy in a couple spots, so the speed readings-especially just after the hairpin-were a little wonked. But with the aero it definitely does start to hit a wall about 110mph. Every mph after that gets harder and harder.

was going to ask about the aero, but you answered it below. and what is the 535 HP motor? Dry sump LS3?

Sorry. 530hp. This engine from Blue Print Engine via Summit. We're adding a 3 stage Aviaid dry sump and running it on E85. www.summitracing.com/parts/mll-psls3760ctf/overview/
