  • ⚠️If you don’t rotate your tires regularly, it could lead to premature wear. At the very least, this will cause your tires to require replacement more frequently, which is EXPENSIVE. Worst case scenario, excessively worn tires could lead to a tire blowing out, hydroplaning, or other dangerous tire-related issues.
Most tires should be rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles, but make sure to look up your specific vehicle's recommended intervals.

You can’t cross a directional tire!

Certain tires can only be rotated front to back and not crossed due to the rotation apparently.

@One Man as far as I know most good winter tires are directional.
Then there are also cars with different sizes front and back tires/wheels

Exactly, so many people trying to send people spinning off the road in the rain or snow with this 1975 advice. If you have directional tires they cannot leave the same side.

I've been working at a car shop for 17 years and all the lube techs myself included when I was a lube tech always crossed the front to back and moved the rear tires straight forward unless they're rotational tires which is obvious if they are or not by the tread pattern and thats for all FWD/RWD/AWD/4WD because regardless if they're going back to their previous position every other rotate that makes them wear more evenly because cars go out of alignment over time and that causes camber wear to develop (when the tire wears down the tread faster/more on one side than the other)

my tires are directional tires they have arrows, so that pattern would not work out

So first tire rotation you cross them, then next tire rotation bring the front to the back? Then repeat?

If you switch like that it puts the tire in the same spot it came from though 😂😂 I’m so confused.

If you rotate with this pattern the front right tire goes
      Front right
      Back right
      Front left
      Back left
      Front right
      Repeat

why is it on front wheel drive cars the rear tires usually wear faster or blow first? and on rear wheel drive it’s the front that has issues? you would suspect the drive tires are the ones to blow first… but that’s almost never the case
