I really love how smart you are with your approaches to these books, that you recognize that a book you loved can still be problematic and have flaws, and that it doesn't mean that you don't love the book if you point out these flaws and talk about them. I feel like that's not always a given in the booktube community and it makes watching your videos really nice!

I’m so impressed with your description... maybe you get such a great vocabulary and understanding from reading so many books!! But so many times I have had friends say “oh you should read this, you’ll like it”... like... thanks? So, I have to say it. You are the reason I picked up Heretics Anonymous. I think it was before it came out and you really hyped it up. As a former catholic school student, I absolutely adored the read. Anyways, my top like 5 reads of 2018 were 5) What Light- Jay Asher 4) Heretics Anonymous - Katie Henry 3) Stranger Than Fanfiction - Chris Colfer 2) Wintergirls - Laurie Halse Anderson 1) City of Bones - Cassandra Clare (seriously, I dove into this world for the first time since hating it in 2008-ish and I loved it.)
I have read The Woman In The Window because you recommended it and loved it but I totally agree with the end even though I didn’t quite notice it until you pointed it out. I also read The Afterlife of Holly Chase because you recommended it and THANK YOU SO MUCH! as someone who loves everything about the Christmas Carol, this was the best Christmas break read. I am currently reading The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo and I totally agree that you just can’t put it down after a while and can’t live without the story. I am planning on reading both Scythe and Nevermoor as well as Heretics Anonymous and many others you mention in this video. I love how you express your opinions and how you sum up the plot of each book. And I was so surprised that QOAAD wasn’t your number one favorite book of the year although when you said your number one is Renegades I was like “aaaaah okay yeah” because of how much you’ve talked about it this year.

Since you love the Scythe series, I highly recommend Neal Shusterman’s other series Unwind! It’s very amazing and I fell in love with his writing with the first book and have been meaning to continue since I read the first book.

I'm not proud of my project *at all* and I still need to present it. UGH I will never see this amazing series the same way again.

I finished QOAAD as my first book of the year and I agree with you! I really loved it but there was so much left unexplained and I was a bit disappointed because of that. I’m so glad to see Renegades on the list! Archenemies was in my top 5 of this year and Renegades was last year too.

I totally understand what you mean about scythe and the books romance but i just loved the relationship between citra and Rowan idk why but i think bc we get so little of eat that i personally wanted always to know more and it always made me think of a "forbidden" love.I know ppl dont like it but i would Really like to see their relationship grow a little bit more. Although I didnt enjoy the other relationships much.
My favourite books I read in 2018 was the books about Percy Jackson and the Divergent series❤ I just ordered Truly Devious, the whole Shadow and Bone Trilogy and Five Feet Apart. I am so excited to read them!!!
Normally I feel like we have pretty similar tastes but GIRL I HATED RENEGADES. I felt like the world could have been interesting but it just wasn't executed well. And I saw all the plot twists coming (especially that one at the very end) from like 300 pages away so it wasn't exciting for me. I'm so glad you liked it though! Just goes to show that no two people will ever have the exact same taste in books.
Renegades, QoaaD and Ace of Shades are definitely my three favourite books of the year! I was so set on Renegades being my number one favourite of the year but on the last day I finished Ace of Shades and I just loved it so much and now I’m not sure which of the two was my favourite but they are both two of my new favourite books of all time for sure! and obviously Queen was amazing!!

Ok so I watched this video and got like a certain itch to like read and so I went into my local book store and I saw renegades and I was like sure why not. So I got it and went home but did not actually read it for like a week and one day i was like im bored so I started reading and it CHANGED MY LIFE it is SO SO SO GOOD and i read it in 3 days (I would have finished it in one but I had school and homework) and I got the 2 couple days later and finished that in 1 day cuz it was SATURDAYYYY and I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT IS SO GOOD!!! You are SO right EMMA!!!! also ps lol might or might not have gotten my brother, my best friend, another friend and 2 teachers into it also including adding it to the list of new books for the library lol but definitely highly recommend!!

The Way I Used To Be literally shook me to my core. The “twist” was so crazy and the way Eden dealt with the trauma was so similar to other girls who face this awful situation. She felt so real to me. The only thing is I think her friend could’ve been a little more fleshed out. I didn’t like how she was lowkey a villain when in reality she’s just a normal teen who had no idea her friend had been raped bc she never told her. Also the book club aspect could’ve been a lot better and more impactful like she could’ve read “Speak” while in the club and maybe that could’ve given her inspiration to speak up. Idk still lived it! 5/5
Ok SPOILER ALERT PEOPLE *** So basically the reason that girl in the grade below her hated her so much was bc her brother was raping her and saying it was ok bc Eden let him do it too. But she never knew Eden was raped. That was the twist.
Year One and Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts were my favorites of 2018. They are post apocolapse books but with magical elements not zombies. I can't wait for Rise of the Magicks in november! I absolutely love The Mortal Instruments and the Shadowhunter World so maybe you'll enjoy these too.
also i'm currently reading queen of air and darkness it's so amazing so far i'll be finishing it today because we're on a level 2 in my state due to a lot of ice and snow and i'm on page 518/875 and i'm so sad because i don't want to finish it especially because i have to wait three years for the next story.

I ABSOLUTELY knew that The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo would be on here and I love so much that it's showing up on everyone's list. And besides being one of the best books of the last decade it's also such an Important book and honestly... I'm just so glad?? it's getting airtime??
I can still remember how much you loved The Afterlife of Holly Chase on your past vid. I picked it up because of you and I loved the audiobook. :)
I really want to read The After Life of Holly Chase for sure. I stumbled upon it on Goodreads and after seeing this I am for sure convinced.
Truly Devious and Ace of Shades were definitely standouts for me! Also planning to dive into Renegades soon because you just make it sound so awesome and I need the tea! lol

I finished QOAAD as my first book of the year and I agree with you! I really loved it but there was so much left unexplained and I was a bit disappointed because of that. I’m so glad to see Renegades on the list! Archenemies was in my top 5 of this year and Renegades was last year too.

I just recently found your channel and you are AMAZING! I stopped reading book since 2015 but after finding your channel just few days ago, I started reading the Mortal Instrument series and War Cross. I would be reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Renegades.
I totally understand what you mean about scythe and the books romance but i just loved the relationship between citra and Rowan idk why but i think bc we get so little of eat that i personally wanted always to know more and it always made me think of a "forbidden" love.I know ppl dont like it but i would Really like to see their relationship grow a little bit more. Although I didnt enjoy the other relationships much.
My favourite books I read in 2018 was the books about Percy Jackson and the Divergent series❤ I just ordered Truly Devious, the whole Shadow and Bone Trilogy and Five Feet Apart. I am so excited to read them!!!

Normally I feel like we have pretty similar tastes but GIRL I HATED RENEGADES. I felt like the world could have been interesting but it just wasn't executed well. And I saw all the plot twists coming (especially that one at the very end) from like 300 pages away so it wasn't exciting for me. I'm so glad you liked it though! Just goes to show that no two people will ever have the exact same taste in books.
Renegades, QoaaD and Ace of Shades are definitely my three favourite books of the year! I was so set on Renegades being my number one favourite of the year but on the last day I finished Ace of Shades and I just loved it so much and now I’m not sure which of the two was my favourite but they are both two of my new favourite books of all time for sure! and obviously Queen was amazing!!

Ok so I watched this video and got like a certain itch to like read and so I went into my local book store and I saw renegades and I was like sure why not. So I got it and went home but did not actually read it for like a week and one day i was like im bored so I started reading and it CHANGED MY LIFE it is SO SO SO GOOD and i read it in 3 days (I would have finished it in one but I had school and homework) and I got the 2 couple days later and finished that in 1 day cuz it was SATURDAYYYY and I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT IS SO GOOD!!! You are SO right EMMA!!!! also ps lol might or might not have gotten my brother, my best friend, another friend and 2 teachers into it also including adding it to the list of new books for the library lol but definitely highly recommend!!
The Way I Used to Be is soooo underrated. It was honestly one of the most life changing books Ive read.

The Way I Used To Be literally shook me to my core. The “twist” was so crazy and the way Eden dealt with the trauma was so similar to other girls who face this awful situation. She felt so real to me. The only thing is I think her friend could’ve been a little more fleshed out. I didn’t like how she was lowkey a villain when in reality she’s just a normal teen who had no idea her friend had been raped bc she never told her. Also the book club aspect could’ve been a lot better and more impactful like she could’ve read “Speak” while in the club and maybe that could’ve given her inspiration to speak up. Idk still lived it! 5/5

So basically the reason that girl in the grade below her hated her so much was bc her brother was raping her and saying it was ok bc Eden let him do it too. But she never knew Eden was raped. That was the twist.
Year One and Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts were my favorites of 2018. They are post apocolapse books but with magical elements not zombies. I can't wait for Rise of the Magicks in november! I absolutely love The Mortal Instruments and the Shadowhunter World so maybe you'll enjoy these too.

also i'm currently reading queen of air and darkness it's so amazing so far i'll be finishing it today because we're on a level 2 in my state due to a lot of ice and snow and i'm on page 518/875 and i'm so sad because i don't want to finish it especially because i have to wait three years for the next story.
