  • Hey Everyone, Today i show the simple drain and fill procedure of the King Quad's front axle. I talk about oils for a bit and explain my choices. This is a good thing to check yearly before the freezing point to determine if you have water in your oil or not. Hope this helps. Josh

    Good video, FYI, Oil is lighter than water. Water will be on the bottom where the gears are and will burn out the gears. When you open the drain plug, you will see only water drainging first.

    Quick tip, ALWAYS remove the fill plug before the drain plug. If you drain the oil but cant undo the filer plug you might be shafted for a while!

      I take it you have had a bad experience before🤪 haha. Good tip. I like doing it this was and you can tell if the vent in the diff is plugged at all by the way the oil drains. Good tip.

      @@Schneids15 Yes i've been caught out on a 35year old suzuki SJ410. :-( In the end I had to use and angle grinder to cut a notch in the old drain plug to remove it where it rounded off. I see what you mean about the vent though. Maybe loosen the fill plug then pinch tight, then do drain plug and check vent isn't blocked. Thanks for all your videos. Really useful. I have a 2001 KQ300 in the UK and enjoy using it.

      I figured as much👍🏻 at least suzuki made these plugs a big size and not a small 10mm strip easy plug. Thanks for the comment and i am glad i can help people in the UK also😁

    Good video man, my only critique is water is heavier than oil. Oil floats. Water goes to the bottom, always.

    Hi Schneids15
    Excellent video series on the Quad King 300 - they have helped me enormously. Recently I did a carb and valve clearance service from your videos. The bike ran great until I had an oil leak that I traced to a split oil cooler. I have a new used one on the way - but I wanted to ask - do you think I should apply a thin film of RTV on the mating surfaces of the oil intake and outlet flanges as well as the o rings that are there? Or are the O rings sufficient to seal the mating? Cheers!

    I just bought one of these king quad 300 the carb was off when I bought it took apart let soak in parts cleaner I installed and it runs. But idles rough and has like a back fire issue but only when idling. Also seems to be running hot on the exhaust

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  Před 3 lety +1

      Sounds like your idle circuit and more are clogged up a bit causing it to run lean and produce a lean pop and hot exhaust. I would clean the carb very well pull it apart and do it proper and i bet it solves your issue. These also have to have the intake on to run proper

    • @lutz7001
      @lutz7001 Před 3 lety +1

      I have all the rubber connected proper and air filter on. I will have to pull it apart again and let it soak in my carb cleaner for another day or so and make sure it's clean. Could the choke cable not having a good seal with the rubber cause it possibly? I seen that earlier when messing with it. Looks like the rubber boot doesn't sit very well on the part that screws into the carb for choke cable.

    • @lutz7001
      @lutz7001 Před 3 lety

      I may have that screw that you turn out 2 5/8 in your other video in a little too much I will check when I take it apart again

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  Před 3 lety

      @@lutz7001 The choke can cause issues yes. If you just soak the carb it usually never works. You need to pull the jets and clean them with air/carb clean

    Hi, is this normal if my front diff smell super bad. Like some kind of burning. I've remove a driveshaft and it stink a lot haha. Maybe this is because water got in?

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  Před 3 lety +1

      If the gear oil is old and black it is completely normal for it to smell horrible. If water got in it would be milky in colour.
