G'day viewers!
We were lucky enough to have a friend drop off an old rusty wood heater this week. I spent some time fixing it up, getting rid of the rust, making a new handle and re-blacking the finish of the cast iron. I think the end result was pretty good! It should make a great addition to our heating as we move closer to winter.

This fire pit is one of a few covered pits that is on the list czcams.com/users/postUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM of approved products for Disney Fort Wilderness. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.
I get free wood stoves it seems every year. I restore them and use one in my house, garage, and work shop. The other stoves I run across I fix up and sell. It's very satisfying to see a stove after restoration.👍👍
Hi country Pepper. Can you answer a question? I want to install a wood stove on the basement of a 2 story building which has a brick chimney. Do you think this will be save to do. I have tenants on 1st and 2nd floor living. Thank you in advanced.
Hi can I come buy some please
awesome job, both on the restore and filming! watching you buff the rust off was ridiculously satisfying.
I nearly fell asleep with that and the music
I've been a tomboy my whole life and my daddy was a ww2 medic, 40+yr career Army man. He left me his wood sharpening (small) business, tools and old wood stove. It was left on the back patio and I needed to restore it and had no idea how to do it. This looks so simple and easy. Thanks for the video. I will attempt it when I can!! Super cool!🪵🪚
Wow I never would have thought that would have cleaned up so nicely.. I love watching “practical” work in progress! Thank you for sharing this!
That was an awesome job!. I just did a partial refinish on my parents cast iron stove they bought about 12 years ago and never used. It had surface rust all over it so I scrubbed it all down and used coconut oil and did a heat up on it to season it and it turned out pretty good.
Thank you. I am now motivated to clean/renew a wood stove my Father in law gave us! It was one he used over 45 years ago!
No worries mate! I'm sure you will do a great job :) The fire will be warm.
You did an excellent job restoring this rusty wood stove. I sure miss having a wood stove in the house. It sure is a different feeling of warmth, when you walk into the house. I grew up with wood stoves in every room in the house !
Project turned out awesome. Also agree with others that the narration makes a world of difference. Camera work was already excellent from the beginning. The channel is coming along nicely!
Haha yeah it sure does! Thanks so much for the support, stay tuned for more soon!
The Bright
Yeah. Narration makes all the difference.
Thank you and greetings from Portugal.
The Bright Pixel ー
Yes, narration! Turned that sows ear into a silk purse! Looking schmick, mate.
Wow, that came up amazing!Well Done!
Looks amazing guys. You did a great job cleaning it up!
Very nice! You are so patient!!!
Glad I found this. Tired of watching very talented people wasting their time restoring crap that isn't worth restoring. This is definitely worth restoring.
There's hardly anything more pleasing than good old re-loving ,,, great job !!!!
Love the Bill Murray Caddyshack way to clean out the stove. The alternative of course is a vacuum cleaner.
Greetings from a suburban dweller here in the Pacific Northwest (USA). Not a homesteader, but I salvaged an old beat up parlor stove, and am going to take on the project of cleaning it up for use this winter.
Loved this video, and am going to watch more of your videos!
Excellent job. Nice and thorough. Many thanks for posting, can't wait to give my wood burner similar treatment
My family has sold Masport Heaters for years,... Nice units :)
Really nice result. So satisfying.
Very cool video! I love that you were able to bring it back so beautifully. We have a40+ year old Vermont Castings that works well, but looks sad. Next summer I will know what to do. Many thanks.
Nice work- good to see something that has life left in it restored and put back to use. I wish we had these small, blocky wood stoves with glass for a fire view more available in the US. They are popular in Europe, but here in the US large wood stoves are favored and most of the smaller ones are a niche market, meaning they tend to be hard to find and expensive.
Although this video didn't build my confidence in my ability to change my stove from white back to black, it was very satisfying to watch and I appreciate all the hard work you put into it.
Wow, What an improvement! It looks so good.
Hydraulic fluid works really well at loosening rusted bolts. Dot4 break fluid is always handy to keep around if only for that.
That is awesome! I love to see these down to earth restoration videos. Thanks for the great video!
Nice job, can't go wrong with wood heat,
@peter d live& let live
very nice, I like how you show real time rust removal so you can see how long it takes and techniques used to get it off. Thanks!
such a satisfying, peaceful video!
thank you for uploading it!
Love the camera sounds!
In the presence of a skilled craftsman, there is nothing new or old , as long as its body still exists.
Nice work ! Great to see it brought back to life.
Watching that rust disappear with the wire brush was so satisfying and relaxing, especially coupled with the music................... :)
Watching the painting was nice as well!
I fell asleep and spilt my beer..
Wow! I love it! It looks brand new, too. Well done!
Nice resto job mate, and yep the ash and damp newspaper or cloth do a great job of cleaning up the glass too, and costs you nothing.
Right!!! Outstanding think I'm going to bring my old one back from the dead👍
It turned out so beautiful!
Amazing result. Nicely done 👍
Jus come across your channel excellent job with the heater. 👍🏻
This made me want to restore a very nice wood stove I have in my shed when I bought my house. Indiana u.s.a. it's cold her with snow on the way. Nice job by the way.
Great work. Looks just as something that came from the store, but it makes me happy that this is something that someone regarded as trash. I'm subscribing!
Just found your channel and I'm inspired. Nothing like removing rust and gunk and making something shiny and workable again. So I'm hooked! New subscriber, howdy from Michigan USA.
Great video, and great job on the stove. I have an old wood burning heater that's very rusty. I'm planning on restoring it to use when my "Small House Project" is finished for heat during the winters. I have not restored any before so your video was very helpful. Watching you work I know it will take lots of patience to get it done right. Thanks much!
Beautiful results!
New Subscriber. Love watching and learning. That fireplace is cool.
Tony-nyc.

Having a small Sand Blaster I would have taken it more apart to clean all the pitted rust area's -- Very good job at cleaning it up

Thanks heaps mate, and thanks for the support!

Very well done and thanks - great ideas on accomplishing this myself!
Killer score! It came out beautiful.
Ahhhh, sand blasting would be the order for stuff like this. Nice video.

Absolutely AMAZING!!!
Great job. Beautiful stove.
restoration work has healing power, feel comfortable!
Nice and usefull work. Love the resalt.
One trick with the glass cleaning is to use a damp rag dipped into the wood ashes!
Clean off with a clean bit of the rag and you are good to go!
Easiest way I found was a really hot fire.
I find that trick leaves a red rash on my face ;O)
Nice restore...looks like you had a good time!
Beautiful stove ...nicely done
Wow that turned out awesome... great work
Sweet. I'm inspired to look for an old junker to fix up now.
Excellent job!
Man that turned out great..nice job!!
That looks great!
Great revival mate in this throwaway age.
VERY COOL...JUST CAME OUT NICE...
Great stuff well done.
Beautiful!
Excellent work !!!!
The whole time you were scooping ash I was thinking "just break out a leaf blower" and then bam you delivered.
wood burner glass cleaning tip. use scrunched up newspaper, white vinegar and ash from the fire to get the black off the glass easily and a stanley knife blade for really caked on hard bits
Nice job! Thanks for sharing
This is so satisfying
Great video man!!
Beautiful work!!
Fun project, nice job.
中々の修理の腕前で、感服した。。 物を大切にする気持ちは万国共通。。I was impressed by the middle of repair. . The feeling of treating things is universal. . Sorry for google translation.
You fid s nice job on that stove, looks practically new.
Beautiful old stove
Nice restoration. Congrats.
Great score!
Add thst ash to your compost!
I just got one that needs similar work, but not that much, it is a IRONSMITH wood stove, made in CANADA, you did very good job, lots of work.
A great save. My grandmother used kerosene and newspaper to clean the glass of stoves. I know its tough when you have facial hair, however, even a bandanna tied around your mouth and noise while doing dusty work would greatly improve your chances of becoming an OAP.
