    May 10th 2019 Smelting @ Duluth, MN
    Park Point.
    Second run of the season after the depressing shore line ice build up. It was late run again this year, but man! it was on fire!
    A lot of folks were filling up their coolers fast. Overall Everyone did well that night. Will my season is over I'm satisfy of what I got. See you all in 2020!

    In the 70's 6 to 8 of us used to up there every year and always had a great time. I've been at almost the exact spot you are in this video and spots farther down the beach as well as the Lester river. Our best year we filled 2 40 gallon steel garbage cans in 4 hours and our worst year we only filled 1 can half full in 2 days! It's nice to see some people are still having fun smelting! Thanks for reminding of those good memories with this video.

    can we use just a regular net to get em?

    • @adventurexai7136
      @adventurexai7136  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes you can, but the way you haul them in is a little different than a net with a pocket. We’ve been using a regular net in the past and its fine.

    Do you know of any river/streams to smelt??? I need to hit one up this 2020 season... Please find me on facebook, "Johnny Rock"

      Lester riverb in Duluth is pretty hot during the run. But space is very limited. Otherwise any stream is pretty good. They just run later than park point. Lester River is your best bet though.
