  • Our first Oxfordshire church is a jewel of a church that had a Jewel as a Rector. Set in the middle of a small village between Oxford and Abingdon, St. Leonard's, Sunningwell is a 13th century building with later additions, restored by one J. P. Seddon in the Victorian era. Its pews have some intimidatingly huge poppyheads, but it is best known for its odd polygonal west porch, added by a former Rector who wrote an Apology for the Church of England.

How can one defend a church formed because someone was unfaithful to a wife? Sounds like a pretty shaky foundation.
