This has been such a fun playoffs. KD and Bron are out in 9 games combined. And the real basketball played since then has been glorious. Mavs in 6.
If Luka plays at just his average the Mavs will win. If he cant they'll lose. I believe in him though. Mavs in 6.

Game 6 against OKC was very hopeful. That level of Luka is more than enough to cruise through this series. He could have shot more but since he was getting fouled and/or double-teamed on most plays he chose to pass to open teammates instead of continuing the onslaught. So it's just a question of if that game was an aberration or if he's gotten better to the point where he can be effective again.
@@SDesWriterThat's my thing as well. Games 5 and 6 Luka looked good-great even through the injury. His efficiency improved and he looked much more comfortable. That's the only thing that makes me confident in Mavs in 6.

Minnesota feels like a match-up that is bad for us on paper, but somehow is good in practice. As long as Naz Reid doesn't turn into prime Steph, I'm feeling relatively confident.
Reid and Kat only can shoot when there isn't a hand in their face. As long as they don't help off of them, they are harmless (unless they choose to play inside where they have a real advantage). Edwards can't hit a 3 unless he's got a step either. Conley is the X factor for them because it's easy to give him too much room and he's been lethal in the last series. Gobert is useless and I don't think anyone fears the SF whose name escapes me. There bench is meaningless other than Reid. They gave Denver fits when defenders gave them space but in the blowout games they stayed close and suddenly the mighty Wolves couldn't hit a shot.
@@SDesWriterwhat stands out for me was how they struggled to guard Murray. Their defence is good if they play against slow opponents. If they face a dynamic scorer like Murray they can be beaten and both Luka and Kyrie are both on a different level compared to him. Lukai will have a lot to do and all of the roleplayers need to make their open shots consistently.
i think kyrie is the x factor. if he plays normal it’s a 7 game series and if the wolves heat up they can end it in the 6. if kyrie plays ridiculous like he has in plenty of series of his career then the mavs could maybe finish the series in 6. i feel like this series boils down to how kyrie plays
@@xfanatick7972 Completely agree. Kyrie is very dangerous with his ability to get to the rim and finish over anyone, but then you add Luka and his ability to score 40-50-60-and now even 70 points. Just a whole different level of offense. It all depends on how healthy he can stay.

It’s funny that at the start of the playoffs we were picking top seeds we would rather play and everyone either said Minnesota or maybe Oklahoma City.
Now the Timberwolves look like a buzz saw and nobody’s thinks we can win.
I personally don’t think the things the Timberwolves did to rattle and defeat the nuggets are going to be as effective against us. Our two best players don’t need an entry pass and are two of the most sure handed ball handlers in the league, and we don’t depend on exxagerated dribble hand off actions to create offense.
I’m super proud of this team and I don’t think (unless they have a terrible collapse) I will be dissapointed in them no matter what happens but I think they have a huge chance to win this series. What I’m most excited about is with all of the talk about Anthony Edwards in the media, if Luka could outplay him and advance to the finals that would be extremely satisfying.
Yeah idk why people switch up so fast. Minnesota has a incredible run for sure but they are still inconsistent overall. Honestly OKC, Denver, Mavs and wolves all have chances to beat each other. Personally I think Denver was the best match up for the wolves because their offence is very slow because of Jokic.

The only one that scares me is Naz. If he shines it would be extremely difficult to beat them. Specially because I don't think they can get away with Rudy and Kat playing at the same time for most of the game against the Mavs.
If they take out Rudy and play Kat & Naz, I am EXTREMELY confortable with Lively playing Naz on the perimeter. He's not that quick and Lively's length and explosiveness will give him fits. I think it works on Kat too, but I'm concerned about him driving the baseline with his shoulder down. That's a big boy to try to stop if he gets a 1/2 step.

Edwards had 3 games under 20pts against Denver (when Braun got extended minutes guarding him). Malone went away from it to get more offense from KCP (Which didn't work), but if Braun can lock him up, I have no question that PJ and DJ can do even better. If Edwards tries to play Luka it's going to be a slaughter. He struggled with Murray.....there's NOTHING he can do against Luka.

@@FreeOfAllFear ant is amazing but Murray still dropped multiple 25p+ games on his head with good efficiency. Luka is arguably the best player in the league( nr1 guard for sure) and Kyrie is Kyrie. Denver was the best matchup for the wolves. Imo both OKC and Mavs have a better chance to beat them because of their face paced dynamic offence. Jokic offence couldn’t work because they threw everything at him
@@FreeOfAllFear He was 3 for 5 in the 4th quarter. That's not "handcuffs". He played 43 minutes and scored 25 in the first half. The man was exhausted and didn't get any help from anyone other than Joker. Ant is taking credit for a natural 11 point second half to go with a 25 point first half.

Wow , not the kicks, man . When I hear the media is all picking the wolves , I’m reminded of 3 years ago. Everyone was picking the Suns and Devin Booker was definitely the best player in the series . Luka blew up the entire franchise. New coach (2) new owner, and when Luka steps out his back door, in Dallas , and whistles real loud . Booker jumps up and says “ I got to go, my daddy is looking for me “.

Being from Minnesota I am pulling for the Wolves. After 30 years of disappointment, actually my entire life in all sports. LOL. I am very excited about this series the Mavs are a very good team and will be a tough matchup. It should be a great series. I like your analysis.

I've gotta agree with the prediction. This is the matchup i wanted as a basketball fan (More Anthony Edwards), but as a Mavs fan, it's gonna be brutal. I think if the Wolves try to play straight up defense and don't blitz Luka or Kyrie, the Mavs have a real shot at it. And after how well the TWolves played in the previous two round, they may be arrogant enough to do that for a game or two, and give the Mavs JUST ENOUGH window to win in 7 games.
Glad you watch games unlike other nba media out there, no one is giving us a shot in every series but my Mavs keeps proving them wrong. If twolves beat a healthy Luka then they are the champs. A healthy Luka and a fair officiating is all I ask.

I can say one thing Ant and others better not say anything bad or being cocky this series because last thing you want is to unlock super mad Luka Doncic with a focus to destroy you mode.

If either Luka or Kyrie gets double teamed against Minnesota, then the role players are gonna have to step up to the plate and knock down their shots. I agree with Slightly about the Mavs chances in this series though. This is not the same teak that Minnesota faced earlier this year. The roster construction has completely changed to a default. I also believe that Maxi Kleber is the biggest X factor in this series because its like what Slightly said. You can go small with Maxi or pair him up with Gafford or Livley at the 4. I do believe that this Mavericks team is going to shock alot of doubters in this series and I personally believe that we can win this series in 6 games. Also I need to see Kyrie Irving get hot early and often in this series because this getting cold and hot stuff isnt how you win championships. Kyrie knows that he has to do better and I agree that he is gonna breakout in this series.

By the looks of all the things and what I’ve learned this postseason and all the years I’ve been analyzing basketball. (I work for a Sports Network in 🇵🇭). I don’t think it’s gonna be a close series at all. I think if Mavs win game 1 (which they almost always lose but still win the series) it’s gonna be a sweep but if not it will go 5 or 6 at most. Luka and Kyrie cannot be contained at the same time plus the corner threes and stepping up of Dallas role players is too much for the Wolves who has many offensive holes. Dallas also has one of the best Defense this postseason. I watched every game from both teams this post season and I think the Mavs will be too much for the Wolves defensively and more so offensively. Luka will toy with Gobert and anyone in front of him, More experienced Kyrie will dance around young Edwards and Dallas Role players will step up as the focus is on the back court duo.

Need to trust the defensive scheme that has gotten us past Clippers and OKC, no doubling and let the paint help be the deterrent and live with the opposing star having to go wildly efficient/deadly from midrange.
MFFL here. The Timberwolves have earned the right to be the favorites due to their regular season performance and the fact that they unseated the defending champs. That said I really like the Mavs matchups with the Wolves and think they area well positioned for an “upset” as long as Luka’s health is not an issue.
KAT is the X-factor in this series. If he can get 20 ppg the Wolves will take the series. He was in foul trouble against the Suns and Nuggets because he had to guard KD and Jokic. KAT and Rudy will help off their defenders against Luka and Kyrie and the other will be the weak side help rotation off the help. The Mavs don’t have a 4/5 that can create their own shots. The Wolves have enough perimeter defenders with length to throw at Luka and Kyrie that it’ll keep ANT fresh to get at least 30 per game. The Wolves also have the length to contest and disrupt the Mavs 3pt shooting. That’s something that the Clippers and OKC did not have. I got the Wolves in 6.

Been watching both teams closely. While I do agree Wolves haven’t face a defense like the Mavs. What they have been able to do in locking down KD, Booker, Beal, Jokic, Murray. That’s impressive. This is the best defense Luka and Kyrie are facing.
I think the Mavericks playing OKC and Clippers showed two teams that aside from zubac and Chet. Those two teams didn’t have elite rebounders or size outside of that.
Wolves do have a loaded front court in Kat and Gobert. Not to mention I haven’t heard in this video talking about sixth man of the year Naz Reid. He’s a two way center / pf who can score, shoot, defend and rebound.
He torched Jokic in pick and roll and they will prob run some plays on him with Luka.
Biggest thing for Mavs is the role players. PJ Washington continue to shoot well, can Derrick jones jr continue to defend and score, can hardway jr score and shoot. Mavs have more offensive depth while wolves have more defensive depth.

The refereeing will be so biased towards T-Wolves that it won't be even funny. Shai and Edwards are everyone's golden boys. It will be hard to pay against wolves and referees.

i feel like the nuggets were beat like they were because one, they have the best player in the league to throw at jokic in gobert even tho nobody can truly shut down joker. also the wolves were good enough to keep a borderline all star guard from going insane. but how will they contain two SUPER STAR generational guards ?? gobert is the key to their defense and the second he’s pulled into help them boys are throwing lobs to lively etc and if he doesn’t help that’s easy buckets for both luka and kyrie. that being said kyrie will have to play out of his mind to win this series. lukas presence will draw defenders whether he’s going insane or not but kyrie takes a backseat sometimes and he’ll need to step up to what we’ve seen him do before to beat this crazy good wolves team
I respect the Suns and the Nuggets for what they accomplished, but they are not known for their defenses. The Mavericks are. In fact, I think they were so good the past 4-5 months that their ranking there improved from 22 or 23 to top 10. Also, does anyone really expect Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal to win an NBA Final? The Nuggets are great, but if you can contain the Joker and their 3-point shooting, you will probably win against them. The Mavericks have greater paint presence, LuKai will drive and don't care, Luka will literally eat you up if you trash talk him, Dereck Jones Jr and PJ Washington are emerging, and Kidd is a master of adjustments especially after game 1s. Also, the Mavericks have much better offense than the Timberwolves. I am just saying that it will NEVER be as easy as some people make it out to be for the Timberwolves. Luka will die if it means winning the Finals and this series is no different.
