What is the passion of Gluttony?
In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, One God. Amen.
Explain the gluttony is understood as the search for the pleasure of eating or the intemperance of mouth and belly. I will clarify that food and drink in and of themselves are gifts from God. However as the common day proverb says “we eat to live, we don’t live to eat!” Gluttony therefore is not considered a passion because of the notion that food might be impure and bad in itself or that the very function of nutrition might involve some sin-for as Christ said, “not what goes into the mouth defiles a man” (Matt 15:11) and as the St Paul teaches, “for everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving." (1Tim 4:4)
