Here’s the Cool Part is an educational webinar-style video created for High School students by graduate students in The University of Toronto’s Medical Genomics Program.
Join Dan Helix and Dave Locus as they explore the exciting world of the human microbiome, its intersection with metagenomics, and its implications in healthcare. The first half of this episode explores what the human microbiome is, how we get one, and what it can do for us. We then look closely at how our genetics can affect our microbiome, and how we can use genomics tools to measure these changes. Lastly, we discuss potential applications of metagenomics in healthcare, as well as the exciting new field of custom probiotics!
