    Whew, I'm very impressed with your perfect videos. I just bought a 1991, 310c, 4wd, extendahoe that is in much better than average shape. Need it on the farm and new to backhoes. I extended the boom to get all the grease points and that boom cylinder started leaking. Because I'm new to this and it's the biggest cylinder I was thinking to take it to a cylinder repair shop but maybe I'll try it after watching you vid. I'm 67 and not as strong anymore. It came with the parts book and I just got the exact copy J.D. owners and service manuals from Peacfull Creek LLC. Awesome source. Ordered Mon. here on Wed. Already paid for themselves as I didn't know about the Reverser dipstick which had no oil showing. Your videos are very clear, to the point and shows how to do things right including keeping everything clean and organized. The cutaway schematic is really helpful. Thank You from Battle Creek Mi.

    Hi Salam, Love your videos with excellent explanation and camera work. I'm about to do the same cylinders on my J.D. 310 C and getting tools around. Bought the 1" impact you have and 1" sockets so far. Looking at the Rotary Hammer. So confusing of what to get. Bauar 1641E-B SDS $99, , Bauar 2142E-EB SDS Plus $130, , Hercules HE34 SDS Max $200. Won't be using it a bunch but want it to get the job done and wonder what you use or recommend. Is there a big difference in the adjustable spanners quality? Thanks for your great videos.

      Hello, if you are not going to use the jack hammer for anything else, then it maybe better to rent one and lose all the cylinders that you are planning to do then return when done. You only need it for a couple of hours. If you are planning to purchase one, I only use Milwaukee, DeWalt and Hilti. For the adjustable spanner, I bought one from Amazon and I think it works from 4 inches to 6 inches. Make sure to watch the last video about hydraulic cylinders that I have on my channel, at the end of that video I explained a lot of useful information. Be safe and have a good day

    Using the hammer drill is a great idea, I broke a spanner just like yours trying to open a cylinder. snapped the pin right off of it. Digging that hole with a shovel was also am interesting idea . I live in Connecticut a hole that size would have taken 2 full days with a shovel, a pick and a digging bar. We have extremely rocky soil. Great work.

    do you know where to drain hydraulic oil?

    • @SalamSayhood
      @SalamSayhood  Před rokem

      There are three hydraulic systems for this machine and two filters.
      The filters are located under the driver seat (on the machine frame) to the left side.
      The differential has a drain plug on the bottom side.
      The transmission has a drain plug on the bottom side.
      The hydraulic cylinders and steering system use the hydraulic tank in the front of the steering wheel and it should have a drain plug at the bottom. I hope this answered your question

    Hi Salam could this oil AW46 fluid used in my hydraulic system and transmission for John Deere 410G backhoe?

    • @SalamSayhood
      @SalamSayhood  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello, they hydraulic fluid for the hydraulic system and the transmission must meet the John Deere JDM J20C, J20D (“Low Viscosity” grade) specifications. I use the Phillips 66 powertran fluid as it meet the specifications requirements for all my equipment. Read the datasheet for the AW46 and see if it meets the John Deere JDM J20C, J20D specs. I hope this answer your questions. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else. Thank you for watching.

    Very helpful video, I have the exact same backhoe and I have to replace the seals in mine. Can you tell me what the part number on that kit was? Thank you again for the video!

      Hello Levi, please watch this video:
      John Deere 310D Hydraulic Cylinders Finale
      czcams.com/video/cbBnHbYKy0w/video.html
      At the end of it, I explained everything about the job including, how to find and where to order the right parts. Even if the backhoe is the same model, John Deere uses different part kits. So make sure you follow the example I gave in the video to order the correct parts for your machine. If you have any more questions, please let me know, Thank you and good luck,

      @@SalamSayhood Good afternoon my friend, I got my seal kits and started pulling the boom rod yesterday evening. I am currently at the same place as you are at the 11:18 mark in your video but there is some rust at the end of the cylinder inside and I cannot get the gland out. I have taken the ring out of the end and i can get the gland out approximately 1" past the threads but this is as far as i can get it. I have pushed it back in and used very fine sand paper and put a little grease at the end of the barrel but still no luck. Any tips you might have?

    • @SalamSayhood
      @SalamSayhood  Před 4 lety +2

      Good afternoon sir, push the gland into the cylinder, clean the bore from the rust until you have smooth surface, install the half ring and make sure its seated correctly, use grease or oil to lube the bore, pull the rod until you can install the nut back on the gland, then use large screw drivers or pry bars to pull the gland all the way out. please let me know how it goes or if you need more help.

    Question, I have the same machine and have the new jd kit. Why not just swing the whole boom to either extreme lef or right. Especially if machine is raised with with outriggers. It should clear. What do you think. Great videos. Keep them coming

    • @SalamSayhood
      @SalamSayhood  Před 4 lety +1

      When I rebuilt the boom cylinder, the machine was dead, I didn’t know I had to dig for the boom. I mentioned in the video, you can swing the boom all the way to the left or to the right. However, I also wanted to rebuild the swing cylinder, work on the boom the way I did allowed me to work on all the backhoe cylinders while I was waiting on part for the boom cylinder. You can view all the videos I posted regarding the rebuilt of the hydraulic cylinder on my machine. If your machine is operational, I highly suggest for you to dig for the boom to go low so you can work on it easier than have it high where you can’t reach it easy and also you don’t have to worry about the outrigger bleeding out or support the machine to stay high. If you have more questions please let me know. Good luck

      @@SalamSayhood thanks, I did both swing arms last month. Now just the boom needs rebuilding.

    • @SalamSayhood
      @SalamSayhood  Před 4 lety

      Try to do it the way you think about doing it, get a straight pipe or piece of wood, line it parallel to the rod and see if the rod will clear.

      @@SalamSayhood thanks, I will do that. Do I need to disconnect any hydraulic lines. Also do I need the steel sawhorse for holding up the boom

    • @SalamSayhood
      @SalamSayhood  Před 4 lety +1

      If you only doing the boom cylinder, you don’t have to do anything other than lower the boom into the ground. The frame that I built was for the dipper cylinder. You have to disconnect both hydraulic lines, I removed mine from the spool, under the joystick, see my other videos about the 310d hydraulic cylinders, it will help you. I posted tips and tricks in each one of them regarding the task.
