The wait is over! REV7 and RANE One are both in stock now! Which DJ controller do you like better?
REV7: digitaldjgear.com/product/pioneer-ddj-rev7-2-channel-serato-dj-pro-controller/
RANE One: digitaldjgear.com/product/rane-one-professional-motorized-dj-controller/
I got my RANE ONE in April of 2022 use it on the regular and LOVE IT!!! Wouldn’t trade it for anything. But I also just ordered the DDJ-REV5 to have as a workhorse unit and keep the RANE ONE as my flagship for certain events.
I own both controllers I prefer the rane one 🗣💯
What's the reason?
He's lying
The rane is made better and the sound quality is better. However, the flow on the pioneer is much easier to use the only thing that I don’t like is the fact that the pitch control is in battle style mode on the Pioneer.
A few things you missed on the comparison, Rane One has a IEC cable as opposed to the REV7 power brick,,in an emergency, you could pick up an IEC cable from just a about anywhere, not the case with the Pioneer dedicated power brick,
Battle mode layout vs traditional layout,, you’re either a fan or not,
In my case being that I am an Algoriddim Djay software user I went for the Rane One as the Rev 7 isn’t compatible,, Even though I came from SL1200 background, I was never a fan of the battle set up..
I also think it was strange that the Rev 7 doesn’t work with Pioneers own dj software Rekordbox..
The price here in Australia is for the Rev 7 is $3300 AUD compared to the Rane One price of $2500 AUD so there are a few different factors in making a choice between the two
The battle position is useless because it was done with turntables to keep from hitting the tone arm and faster scratches. because the sound would meet the needle quicker. As for a mixing dj I would prefer the pitch on the side as it is on the rane.
I wish Pioneer would’ve put the pitch control on the sides as opposed to battle style. It’s such an inconvenience.
So right moving platter in the true ... I start out the the NS7 till serato discontinued supporting it .. the REV7 the Ranes no joke they spin ... 🤜🏾🤛🏾
I enjoyed the video.A few things he left out though. I would choose the Rane if it wasn't for the onboard effects issue. The Rane for some reason doesn't offer any on board effects which is a big issue for me getting pass that! However, rane one has the needle search and a cue button which I like, where Rev 7 doesn't. Also heard that rev 7 fader goes out in about 6 months if you are a heavy scratcher. Heard rane one is more solid built. The led light seems to be better on the rev 7 too. I heard the rev 7 has the S9 mixer built in. Just a few things to consider. The price of the rev 7 is a lot more almost $2000 now, vs the rane one $1599. Huge difference! The rane one you can get one in stores which is another thing to consider. Still debating on the 2, hard decisions to make. Im an old school dj who prefers the turntable feel. Pioneers are a solid brand. Can't go wrong with either, just a preference I guess!
The Rane /inMusic company started the spinning platter since Denon 3500 a decade ago. A company ALWAYS improve or add features after other companies release their products first.
Numark ns7 was first
Coming from a Technics SL background, grabbing hold of the center spindle pin to twist up and pinch down the tempo is the fundamental technique for fine tuning your mix with the SL. The old Numark V7, Numark NS7, Rane Twelve, Rane One all have a center spindle but they're all useless for interaction which is why these units have Pitch Bend buttons instead (apart from the Rane Twelves for some annoying reason 😕 I'm hoping the Twelve MK3 have them as well as NO center click!) and yes I know you can hold down 33rpm and tap 45rpm to achieve this but having 2 dedicated buttons for pitch bending is obviously way better! So when I saw the Rev 7 getting rid of the pointless spindle that has no use to anyone and swapping it for a really useful screen I was sold.
The Rev 7 has great features, but the Rane has the quality, the Rev 7 paddles are very cheap.
This 100%
Fantastic review with all pros and cons. ☝️😇👍
Are they both dust magnets? I know rev 7 is if they make a real vinyl model in future will give it a chance. I see other brands trying to add there version but belt drive isn't great unless it's under £400 over £500 should be pro equipment end of.
I have owned both, Rev 7 is a beast, beats the Rane one hands down
Definitely more bells and whistles on the REV7!
They both big top dawg but I’m not. A Big fan of pioneer gear.. I like and prefer Rane. Gear. So for me. Rane takes it 💯👍
Hi, nice video but which has the best sound?
As a previous Rev 7 owner ad just buy turntables and a mixer with dvs system. Nothing will come close to the real thing unless they build it.
What kind of turntables you suggest?
how do you compare these controllers with the numark ns7 III
Would recommend either of these over the Numark
Numark ns7 was whack, rane 1 is cool and was made to replace the ns7 rane brought out numark but that rev7 is way better performance wise and easy to use all the effects and looping are very convenient,,, the rane is built with thick metal and feels indestructible my opinion the rev7 wins and the rane is the unit that I would compare to the ns7 the rev7 is definitely 6 steps ahead
@@djsurgery8881 NS7III flaw as far as I know, it was built like a tank, and weighed about the same. Compared to both the Rev7 & Rane One how does it stack with features? Like the Rev7 & Rane One both have two USB-A’s, dual outputs, multiple microphones inputs etc… I always wondered why the NS7’s line up never really gain momentum like the Rev7 & Rane One. I would like to think Numark set the precedence for the build of both The Rane One & Rev7.
I've got all ns7 1,2,3 and rane they are motorised platters, feels like 1210s, basically rane one is the ns7 MK4, as in music owns the company
Also selling all my ns7 1,2,3
I believe the Rane One wins. Built way better. Platters are also better. They also cater to the DJ a bit more. 3 prong cable that you can literally buy off any store in an emergency, vs the Pioneer brick. Not feeling the pitch sliders on the top. Most importantly - you don't necessarily get more for the PRICE Pioneer is charging! Not worth the extra money if you are debating between the two.
I didn’t catch it - are any of these plug n play USB, or still need to drag a laptop around?
Both the Rane One and Rev7 require a laptop with Serato to function.
Rane 2... 4 channels do it. Do it
Rane 4 coming out, but will not be direct drive
Do you mean spinning platters? I just saw the demo. I would of been sold on it if it had motor driven platters.
Aren't they all owned under the same umbrella. Competing with themselves raising the price. All this shit is a gimmick. I know that's how business is but that's BS. U can have a full setup with tables for 2 grand. Maybe used but nothing compares to the feel which is what your trying to find. For 2 grand they could have made it 4 channel. Then I may have considered it. That would at least make it worth the weight
I thought Pioneer is owned by iHeartMedia and Rane is owned by inMusic
@@brandonyays correct
I don't think that their under the same umbrella although in music owns Denon Rane and numark products. I don't think they own Pioneer kit.
Rev 7 smashes the R1. Software fx can’t compete w/hardware fx.
Rev 7
Good choice! Thanks for the comment!
For 500$ more the pioneer better have more fX lol
Agreed, the REV7 is a newer unit so there are definitely some more advanced features on it!
