  • It's not a common approach, but the Localizer/Back Course approach is a good one to know. There is a "gotcha" however, that can bite you when using the Garmin Perspective GFC700 AP/FD. After today, you won't be bitten. Two corrections.... I said I was going to fly the approach twice, but only showed one of them here. Second, I referenced a Non-WaaS autopilot, and of course meant a Non-WaaS GPS.

Glad it helped. SCOREBOARD!!!! ;-) Let me know if you have any other questions. And let me know when you earn that rating. It's a great rating and will expand the utility of the plane. Check out my Go/No Go video when you get there.

Thanks, Marc, very interesting! When you pushed the APR button, which then took you into roll mode, what did you do to get back to navigating on the backcourse again? Just hit the NAV button?

Yes, hit the NAV button. If you hit it and it goes into ROL mode on the G1000, then press it again and it should lock in on the BC.
