I arrived in the UK in 2002 to pursue my studies. I often buy fish from Mas Bazar in Shadwell and started shopping there again when they moved to Becton. Yesterday, I went shopping in Becton. Mr. Aklu is indeed a gentleman, humble and approachable. He demonstrates impressive business skills, prioritizing both his customers and the community. May Allah grant him good health and prosperity in all his endeavors.
Nostalgia bro. We growing up in our childhood era in the 90's used to identify Shadwell Grocers shop near Cable Street as "Malik Bhair" shop. I remember buying penny sweets and 50p Lucky bags from there and oh yeah the 5p/10p ice pops during the summer holidays. I remember the guy in the podcast who used to work in the shop as Malik bhais brother but never knew his name till now! Alot has changed in Shadwell now. I've moved out in the late 90's. Alot of fond memories growing up in Shadwell!
I loved this episode As a revert to Islam and a sister I find such humble people’s stories so inspiring and beautiful May Allah continue to grant success in this life and the next 🤲🏼
Very humble brother. MashaAllah his success and wealth hasn't gotten to his head like many people usually do. Proper grafter, may Allah give you more baraka
27:00 My personal opinion in business is this is a saturated market now. You will need a lot of money to open a really big shop to get in a location for Bengali market which isn't catered for already (mission impossible). In any case we need to focus on business that supplies the wider community to bring money from outside the community into the community. Not just buy and sell amongst ourselves.
Congratulations for your success Aklu and well done to brother Kazi for getting people on the show to highlight the success of Bangladeshi businesses in the UK.
I think the same as aklu bhai. Our community buys everything that is indian. As a community we have failed to get togather and produce things in Bangladesh that we sell from the restaurant industry. A big failed opportunity. I hope big players can come togather and do something. Also to include the wider bengali community to become shareholders. Togather it's possible.
Listened it all whilst doing my gardening! Very interesting to know more about the respected business man, wish him and his family many more successful years of this legacy he managed to create Ameen
Luton had been waiting years for someone of the like of Aklu bhai to open and he finally has. All the other bengali stores were rip off merchants charging extortionate prices for years
Salaam I love every single talk on that show specially sir aklu miah so much to learn can listen all day he is absolutely good 👍 person and true business man subhanallah may Allah give him everything success in every way may bless his entire family 🙏 ameen summa ameen
Mashallah very humble and soft spoken genuine brother, im pakistani and us bengali and pakistani brothers shared same struggle and challenges, respect to the brother, im same age really relate to his experiences, allah talla bless him more
33:20 I went to Bangladesh after 23 years and let me tell you ... i'm going back every year from now on insha'allah. Nothing can touch the serenity of village life in Bangladesh. Away from the hustle and bustle of the UK.
This is amazing episode I really enjoyed his advice what ever you do in dunya especially work if it doesn’t support your akhira it’s meaningless he’s right about that
This podcast episode a Big WIN!! A very genuine and humble character like Aklu Miah. Well done for bringing this gentleman on your show, so much to learn from him indeed.
The Original Bengali shop was in Fashion Street E1 off Brick Lane . Owned by the uncles of Rahim Brothers. It was known as Maymolor Shof . They were OG for Bangladeshi Fish and Vegetables back in the 70’s and 80’s
Watched the interview in full enjoyed it very much. Maybe you should do more chains of supermarkets. We are in Birmingham, West Bromwich and would love for you to open one in our area. We have a lot of Pakistani supermarkets but not decent Bangladeshi ones. We have huge Bangladeshi community here and it is only getting bigger. Good luck for your future adventures with food. Maybe you should do Travel Agency too, provide package holidays around Bangladesh as the young generation want to see Bangladesh but there are no Trusted tour guides and services and next generation will not visit Bangladesh because they don't speak the language or know the places. Also trusting Bangladeshi people over there is difficult, where do you go if things go wrong. Hard work pays every way and you have proved it. Great interview ❤
Wish you could have aklu sasa and shelim sasa amd ibco brand brothers all on one podcast. Would be interesting to see a good discussion about each others experiences and what they can relate to.
Thanks for having him on. Very inspiring guy within our community. But bro Kazi, with respect, pls let the guests speak, you keep jumping from one subject to another without letting the speakers speak. Theres so much passion coming from the speakers but for some reason you interject with some random question. Let it flow bro, you just need to ask if the speaker is abit reserved. You did an excellent job on the second half though. Jsk Allah.
His dad was a lovely , loving guy , a God-fearing person. Your father opened the 1st shop under the bridge, and the whole community knew your special herbs imports. That's how you made the money. You married a solicitor, didn't she put you in jail, desh, over money. He has false allegations against other shop owners. His dad was well respected.
He's bang on the money about Bangladesh, people are very very decisive, dishonest and corrupt. This issue runs from the very top to the very bottom..... It's a shame because it's a beautiful country...
Also kazi if you can do subtitles for each time your guest speak a language other than english. There are people who dont understand bengali watching. Thanks.
@kazishafiqur , Rahul amin and the other one sadik ahmed Google the name. Mahee jalil bhai know Rahul amin can put u touch and sadik ahmed lives in Stamford Hill area of North London . He was the director of film called ' the last tagore ' a Bengali western film .!
I bought a *condup* super fake because I was still undecided on whether I liked it enough to buy the real deal. It arrived and it was great, I didn't need to buy the original one. The attention to detail is amazing and even shows in all the packaging and labels. I don't object to this as it does encourage people to sell them on second hand sites. It does make me feel a certain way about the designers selling these bags. They were selling it for about 10 times what I paid. They are ripping people off. Hermès is the worst at this - I imagine them in the board room laughing at how much people are prepared to pay.

Amazing! Thanks for your continued support.
I used to live in shadwell tarling house. I know his dad from young age. They were the only bengali grocery shop in shadwell
I would say the main secret recipe to Aklu Miah’s success is from the duas of his father and mother ultimately. I believe this to be the case 100%
Definitely no doubt and he does respect his elders a lot.
Very humble brother. MashaAllah his success and wealth hasn't gotten to his head like many people usually do. Proper grafter, may Allah give you more baraka

So much to learn from Aklu. He seems like a humble man
Love the humble beginnings of diving deep into business without any experience and then finding his feet.

It’s a very tough business to make profitable, way too much competition and shopping habits have changed significantly
Amazing podcast brother, I only found it difficult to follow when the guest started speaking bangali. Maybe in the future subtitles would be helpful.
I was worried that would happen. I will certainly look into subtitles.
Great episode. It's a shame there are no subtitles for the Bengali parts..
Inshallah we will do another release on our best episodes and with suitable subtitles.
Looking forward to see Bangladeshi rice and masala arriving to support our own people in Bangladesh, does anyone know if the meat in beckton is HMC
Yes HMC available in Kacha Bazar Beckton
He's bang on the money about Bangladesh, people are very very decisive, dishonest and corrupt.
This issue runs from the very top to the very bottom..... It's a shame because it's a beautiful country...
Assalamualaikum does he also own Priyo Bazar in Shadwell and Poplars Meat Bazar?? Also when are you brining Barber H (of Island barbers)??
He doesn’t own priyo bazar
What has the barber done?
Don’t think he owns the poplar one either. There are many copycats out there using bazaar in their name
@@Amibalani chain of barber shops and cafes

A day in the life of Aklu would be great. How does he prepare for the big mela events
bekton is excellent place to shop. best to avoid peak times if possible.
He copied the name bazar from us , Beani Bazar. Yes.
I think he meant no one used the word bazar in UK
He used to live on the outskirts of Beani Bazar in Kalijuri, which is a village located in Gulapgonj.
Bring the owner of Taj stores would be interesting to hear his story.
We asked however we do not think he is interested.
Good interview. But the interviewer needs to stop interrupting.
Our deshi cuisine is the best. No other cuisine can beat it.
hahaha this brother is very entertaining. 24:45 had me in stiches. "i never thought it would die down, i used to see fishes in my dram ahahaha"

He couldn’t have been 7yrs old when he came to England if he was he would’ve strong London accent.
He did say he left school at very early age?
A lot of people from that generation who came to Tower Hamlets at a young age still have a noticeable accent because Bengali was the most used language. Also many went back home regularly and spent a lot of time there, often missing years of primary/secondary school.
For the qurbani video he got the names mixed up he tried to bash down someone, accidentally he bashed his own nephews company.
