The bridge by the Duquesne Incline at 3:03 is the Fort Pitt Bridge which opened in June 1959 as a replacement for the Point Bridge! The Fort Pitt Bridge was the world's first computer-designed bowstring arch bridge! The other arch bridge in the background at 2:43 is the Fort Duquesne Bridge which was built between 1958 and 1963 to replace the Manchester Bridge but didn't open until 1969. It didn't open until 1969 because of delays when they were trying to acquire the ROW for the northern approach ramps. Because of this, it was known as the Bridge to Nowhere, and in December 1964, somebody actually drove a Chrysler station wagon through the bridge's wooden barricades, raced off the end of the bridge, and landed upside-down but unhurt on the other side! Pittsburgh's iconic bridges are painted yellow (technically Aztec gold) because it comes from the from the coat of arms of William Pitt, black and gold! Thus why the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates colors are black and gold!

Duquesne is in reference to Marquis Duquesne, who built Fort Duquesne at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers in 1754, while the name Monongahela comes from the Unami language and roughly translates to "falling banks". The Duquesne and Monongahela Incline stand out in that they're the only ones in the US that use 1524 mm gauge, a gauge grouped as part of 5 ft/1520 mm/Russian gauge, a track gauge standard used in places like Finland, Russia, and Mongolia! The gauge used to more common in the US as many railroads in the southern states used that gauge, but in 1886, around 11,500 miles of it were converted to 4 ft 9 in (1,448 mm) gauge. Besides the Monongahela Incline, Caroline Endres also worked on the Mount Oliver Incline in 1872, but that one closed in 1951!
My favorite funicular is Haifa's Carmelit, named such because it goes up the religiously important Mount Carmel! It opened in 1959 and is quite the unique system since the oldest underground transit system in the Middle East is actually a funicular that's only 1.1 miles long but has a couple stations! Not to mention it serves the beautiful Baháʼí World Centre! Not the only underground funicular as another is Istanbul's Tünel which opened in 1875 and is the second-oldest underground urban railway in the world after the London Underground, and the oldest in Continental Europe since it predates the Budapest Metro! It was the idea of French engineer Eugène-Henri Gavand after a visit to the city and noticed how many tourists struggled going up and down Yüksek Kaldırım Avenue.

My grandma used to live in the building across the street from the top of the Monongahela incline. She would take us down the incline to Station Square at the bottom when we visited. The neat thing I remember about this incline is that there actually use to be a second, larger incline directly next to it for transporting carriages up and down the mountain. I believe the foundations for the building are still visible out the window of the incline when it's moving down the mountain. There should be a picture of it somewhere in the lobby at the top as well. Good memories. I thought that thing was so cool when I was young.

I guess both Barcelona and Pittsburgh have something in common, one is operated by and fully integrated into the modern transit system, where they other is privately operated (although in Barcelona's case, its an extortionately priced theme park shuttle and not a non-profit who operates the other)

There is an elevator(incline) as close as Dubuque, Iowa, on Fenelon Place. Shortest steepest scenic railroad, only about a football field in length
