I currently own a 150 Whaler Montauk (which punches well above its weight), but I just bought a 2018 170 Montauk with all the new design features- deeper V hull, built -in gas tank, wider beam. longer and heavier. I couldn't be more excited.

We just ordered a 2025 170 Montauk with the 115 Merc. I think it's almost the perfect boat for actual boaters - the others in their big ego vessells are "look at mes" and partiers. THis class of Whaler keeps you close to the water, in sync with nature and can take you many places.

@@joerectifier that’s very true! Congratulations! You’re living my dream. Hope to be able to buy one of those one day new. If you’re local, I would love the opportunity to come and check it out. Would love to be able to put it on my CZcams channel!

@@WhalerNation That would be a lot of fun - fortunately (unfortunately for your idea and our loss of not having that fun) we are in SoCal. I can see your passion for the Whalers and I understand - it's a blast.
I am curious if you have tried a Hydrofoil on your merc yet? It looks like a fun thing to try out.

@@joerectifier absolutely! They are quite a bit of fun. I devoted the whole channel to these boats, and I’m happy I did it.
And yes, I’ve tried the hydrofoil and it works well! I would definitely recommend it. And while I have you, what boating content would you most like to see on this channel? I haven’t uploaded in a while and I want to get back into swing of things.

Thanks for the Whaler spotting video. The 170 is cool. This will be my first season with recent mods I’d been planning for ages to my Montauk 150, 2008. Merc 60Bf/CT 210hrs (vessel view mobile via Bluetooth).
    With new a newly fitted 4 bladed spitfire st/steel SF7 13” prop,
A nicely done mod to the bow rail now a walkthrough. For easier Anchor and access. And a new Bimini stainless rail clamp from Speciality marine. It sits rear of the helm seat in front but above the outboard. So it clamps to the side stainless rails meaning it is higher above your head stood up still plenty room above you.
    Cheers from the UK.

That’s awesome! And thank you very much for your positive feedback. My first real Whaler was a 2007 150 Montauk so I know that boat well. Truly a great Whaler! I like your prop, however. That sounds amazing. Thanks for your support of the channel. Cheers!!

I have a 1989, 22 ft outrage real old but awesome boat . I'm almost retire soon, just a tat over fifty.
I think I will down size to 17 montauk. For my retirement down in Florida, not to mention already bought a house in Florida.
    Love your video, thanks
    Bro safe out there.

Hi, thanks so much for sharing. Awesome boat. The 170 Montauk is a great smaller center console, excellent for fishing in Buzzards Bay! Thanks so much for your comment and consider subscribing for more Whaler contact to come. Thank you!

Very, very impressed with your enthusiasm and admiration for your new boat. Trust me, it will never end as long as you keep buying Whalers during the course of your lifetime. I'm much older than you are and I still spend my days tooling around looking at all the different boats. I think you will end up doing the same thing over the years.
Ok, so now that you've found your mooring...how the hell do you get to shore?

Hi! Thanks so much for your kind words. Whalers are my favorite boats and they are all I buy. I’ve been buying them for years and they continue to lend them selves to excellent performance, a superior ride, and excellent build quality. If you check out my channel, you’ll see that it is almost fully devoted to Boston Whaler content. Thanks so much for your comment again! And definitely consider subscribing. And in response to your last question, we have a launch service that takes us in :)

Hey Carson - thanks for making these videos! I’m looking for a montauk with additional aft seating. Is it only the 170s that have that? I’ve seen some older models with bench seating or jump seats in the back. Is it just certain years that have that or is it an ‘option’ on all years? Thank you!

    • @WhalerNation
      @WhalerNation  Před rokem

Hi, thank you very much! I have a lot of fun making the videos, and I do it for people just like you. In response to your question, the 170 Montauks can be specced with aft factory seating. Pretty rare option but it does exist. On the 1990-1999 montauks, I feel like it was more common. Nowadays, I rarely see aft seating Whalers come to market. I’ll have to be on the lookout now. Thanks !
