You left out one of if not the most important thing of all about Neil Young. It's integrity. Unlike almost every other big-name musician you can think of, Neal has never sold out to anyone for any amount of money. He's never compromised his music to cater to the current taste, and he's poured his Blood Sweat and Tears into supporting the ideals that he believes in. Ideals that have never changed.
That is on top of being maybe the greatest all-around musician of his era.

Got to see him live in 1970, Pauley Pavilion, UCLA, as part of CSNY, Stephen Stills playing, “For What It’s Worth” solo on the piano (and I thought the dude totally ripped on guitar),. All of them playing together on “Ohio”. That concert captured the moment and is seared into my brain.

Finally, the video I've been waiting for. Neil Young to me is one of the greatest characters in music.
You have to realise how many bridges this man has purposefully burned to be able to evolve and
make the music he cared about, he has taken every opportunity to make it harder for himself just
to stay true to his idea of himself. Great guy, greater songwriter. Amazing guitarist.

Neil Young embodies music, he isn't tied down by the borders of genres, he just exists in music and floats freely in it.
Also guitarists often bash him for being technically unproficient, specifically on electric guitar (because his acoustic playing is really good) but fuck, when Neil hits a note on an electric guitar, you instantly know who's here playing it and that, in my opinion, is what it's about, there are a lot of people that can solo noodle circles around him, but he has that unmistakeable tone and attack and that is the mark of a truly great guitarist.

Great video, although another important part of his career that didn't really get mentioned was the ditch trilogy (Time Fades Away, Tonight's The Night, and On The Beach), an excellent series of very depressive introspective albums. Still I get that you couldn't fit his whole career into a video, doing so would take a very long time.

I'm 31 now, but my dad took me to see Neil Young and I was only about 13 and he did Greendale which even my dad wasn't aware it was going to be a tour for that and I came to really enjoy that album. He's by far one of my favorites and has 30+ albums it's amazing how his continues to evolve and revolve his music. Another drop of his upbringings were in "Don't be Denied" where "we packed up all our bags, we traveled up to Winnipeg"
Edit: I forgot the entire encore was with Crazyhorse and they did all the hammers!

Neil Young is a true troubadour. He's the singer-songwriter who is above all always his own man. My introduction to him came in his 1960s music, and I admire the old guy who is just as much Neil Young as he was searching for the heart of gold.

I would LOVE to see a video on Ben Folds, the man is a musical genius yet struggles with his own personality and it’s extremely evident in his music. He can go from from alt rock to piano ballad and back again in a matter of minute. I feel like all of this is most evident in his song Erase Me (Live) when he worked with ymusic, man is amazing and i would love more people to love him.

Enjoyed the video, thanks! One point to make though...Neil Young is a lot of things, but 'hippie' isn't one of them. He despised hippies almost as much as Frank Zappa did. It's one of the reasons he forced the Woodstock filmmakers to shoot around him, he didn't want to be associated with hippie culture. Zappa turned down his invitation to perform there for the same reason. Easy to forget nowadays that not everyone bought into the stereotypical group-think model that most see that movement as today.

If anyone is trash its yourself mate. 5 of her solo singles reached the billboard 100 (a big achievement at that time), she was the lead vocalist for big brother. Oh and shes still one of the too selling musicians in America (yeah I ripped all this from wiki before you say anything).
