  • A rare Wood Bros. Hummingbird thresher owned by the Richard Kuhlow family is successfully threshing oats at the 2011 Rock River Thresheree near Edgerton WI. A similar machine was purchased by Dick's grandfather and father in 1942. Dick remembers them threshing with it in the 1950s. He found this identical machine in central WI and got it running in time for the Labor Day Show. Dick is the operator atop the Hummingbird. Jason Snudon is operating the Case LA. George Hoffman (with the hat) and volunteer Tony are pitching bundles.

Very good to see folks that keep these old machines going. Side note Mr. Hoffman is doing twice the production with half the effort as Tony when it comes to throwing shocks. Tony drops one and notice how smooth the ones Hoffman throws land and don't shatter the heads. Tony's just throwing like a wild man. But hats off to old and young for keeping it alive!!!!!!!

Wow! First time I heard of that level of danger from a threshing machine. Must have been a freak occurance!😔

Muskegoboy. Thanks for the video. Do you know if they have an operating manual? I have a Wood Bros. thresher and would like to get a copy. Is there a way of contacting the owner?

Wondering if you could send me pictures of your machine. We owned one in the late fifties. Threshed lots of oats, some wheat, and some red clover. Lost machine in a fire in 1958. Then lived in northern Idaho. Now in New Hampshire

Dick does not have a manual, but you may contact him at 608-290-2061 if you have questions about his machine or threshing in general.

Owned and operated one of these woods brothers machines in the late fifties. Put a lot of oats through it, quite a lot of wheat. Also lots of red clover. Please continue to post. Been many years.
