I was 14 years old when this documentary came out. Growing up an A’s and Raiders fan in the Bay Area I absolutely loved this documentary. I think I watched it maybe 20 times on HBO.
1976 Oakland Raiders. My favourite team of all time. Stabler, Van Eeghen, Branch, Casper, Matuszak, The Mad Stork, Tatum, Butch Atkinson. Radiers Forever!
I live in the east bay, 20 years now and have been a Raider fan for the same amount of time. This video has giving me alot of pride and our teams will return. And they will WIN AGAIN!!!
Oakland is home of the under dogs. They always doubted us and we always prevail. Been loyal to the soil. 91 and b st. Deep east. Hella luv for the town I call home. Luv this clip.
I'm not a Raider fan! But the Raiders are part of what made American Football the great game it is! They've won championships, but their losses are some of the most notable moments in the history of the game! It's true the Raider organisation is struggling. Transition to new leadership/ownership is possibly overdue. But the spirit of Oakland, and the teams that reflect it, the Raiders and the As, will be back. And besides, the Raiders have the best uniform in the NFL by a mile!
I think the Raiders will be the surprise team this year. For some reason I see this team winning 12 games this year. D-mac M-bush rollin with Russ coming to a stadium near you. Oh not to mention Drew Carter, Javon Walker, Ron Curry and Zach Miller thats a lot of weapons on offense this year too.
I think about what stars made Oakland famous from Reggie to Ken Stabler from Joe Rudi to Otis Sistrunk from Art Shell to Sal Bando From Bert Campaneris to Gene Upshaw From Rollie Fingers to Jack Tatum From Vida Blue to Willie Brown From Charlie Finley to Al Davis.
I miss Oakland, It's been almost a year since I moved to Tampa for job reasons... But The Raiders are gonna play the Bucs in week sixteen, can't wait to see that game wearing my Raiders Colors and see them kill the Bucs!!!
@CityofgunzNrosez read instead of drinkin the corona burrito! i didnt say that al davis started the vertical game, and the only reason you brought up don coryell is that he just died and its on the news!! SID GILLIAM started strectchin the field in the 60's!! before that RAMS with NORM VAN BROCKLIN!!
A lot of the sportswriters with HoF votes dislike(d) Stabler on a personal level for some of his off-field behavior/persona. Oddly enough, they love Joe Namath (pretty boy/ladies man) and Brett Favre (aw shucks everyman from the deep south), often for the same traits that they dislike(d) in Stabler. He's a semi-finalist in the voting this year though (along with another criminally excluded Raider, Ray Guy), so hope springs eternal.
Love this era of sports in Oakland, but is there anything Tom Hanks wont appear in? Great actor, but I wish I could experience this, Cream's farewell, George Harrison's passing and memorial, and a ton of other events WITHOUT Tom Hanks.
I agree, but if Namath is in, an argument could be made for Stabler. Favre is no doubt as far as I'm concerned, but Namath is a questionable choice. He definitely had the charisma thing working, but hey, so did Stabler (in a different way).
@Killerdoctor27 I stand corrected. You represented the AFC in the Bowl. However, the end result was not in your favor as the New York Giants yet again proved to be the superior team.
@ozulu45 Well let me ask you then to be clear. Do you have anything against anyone not being either Black or White supporting the Raiders like Latinos or Asians?? But yeah I do understand what you're saying about Oakland once being that blue collar town really working hard and supporting a team that played hard to win over and over again. But these days factories all over have shut down. Hence there are industrial wastelands in many places including the Midwest...
@deltapunk21 how the fuck would you know! Tom HANKS graduated from SKYLINE HIGH!! Mark Hammil and James Gardner are from OAKLAND! Clint Eastwood went to HIGH SCHOOL out here also!
@deedubbman really??? what you from kid? 81st ave and 85th ave. in the deep east since 1970!!!!! I was at the fuckin stadium when they had RAIDER band on the sideline!
@ozulu45, @CityofgunzNrosez Okay I don't get it....both of you are from the Bay and I take it that both of you are fans of the Raiders, so why are you hatin' on one another?? lol!
@ozulu45 Juice was a ghost DJ for X on the first 2 lps until he taught X how to be half way descent for live shows. Your still side tracking instead of answering all the questions. I didn't ask who he produced for, that's google info. I asked you 80's questions & you bring up some 2001 shit off the internet. You already fucked up with the other stuff so tell me what did he do that was groundbreaking for a radio DJ? What is his role with Chuck D today? Or is this too difficult for an '84 head?
@Killerdoctor27 So you are a Gaytriots fan. Okay. Before Bill Bellicheat came to your team you guys were nothings. You never even won a Super-Bowl until Bellicheck and Brady showed up, and you haven't won anymore Super-Bowls than the Raiders have. Yes we may have lost to Miami, but they gave you guys a run for your money as well. New England won't represent the AFC in the Super-Bowl this year. I could easily see Pittsburgh or Baltimore beating you in the Championship.
@CityofgunzNrosez dhb is like the overrated version of JESSIE HESTER and JAMES JETT! if he dosent catch at least 50 passes this year with at least 8 tds. the RAIDERS will do what they did with BULLWINKLE! too much money with little to none return on your investment!!! thats the way of todays NFL! number one draft picks have a three year window to produce or bye, bye!! mc fadden will be cut this year also if he dosnt at least have a 1,200 yard season!
For their entire existence from 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's Raiders>pats. There's not really any category the pats are better than the Raiders in as of 2012 so still Raiders are better and that's a fact. Keep feeding yourself lies. Raiders have more hall of famers and playoff appearances. Want to go back to AFL days? Raiders have more AFL championships too.

@SuperRaiderX I live in Boston... Make an educated guess:)
Namath threw 47 more picks than TD's.
