Props to whomever decided to change the trophy to a J.
Boom! Tetris for Jonas!
Jonas passed away? Man, that's so sad. He was such a legend and a great guy all around. Rest in Piece. And one last "Boom! Tetris for Jonas!" in your memory.
They changed the trophy from the "T" piece into the "J" piece for Jonas.
yeah, he passed away about 3 years ago.
Three years ago today.
@@benjaminisaacson1807 I didn't know that. It's so sad, man.
June???
Right in my backyard. I'll be there for sure.
CTWC is the reason why I go to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in the first place.
Never been in person, but with the sound of other stages in the background and staff telling people to leave during finals, I can understand why they would want another venue. Looking forward to see the next tournament.
So much history with this game. Thor Ackerlund, the winner of the 1990 NWC & inspiration for hypertappers & the tournanent. Harry Hong, the verified first to reach 999999, Jonas Neubauer, CTWC's humble 7 time champion who's spirit lives eternally with the community, Joseph Saelee the first youngest world champion and the first to reach level 31 & 32. Koji Nishio, the CTWC's honorable JPN player & was one of Joesph's idols.
Cheez, the first rolling style player to emerge onto the scene, and Willis Gibson AKA BlueScuti, the first player to literally reach the true death screen in game. There's so much more, but that's what I think is a general taste & glimpse within this amazing community that brings them all together. Thank you everyone. Your Hispanic fan & player from Mexico, now in the U.S. I thank every one of you in the community, much love and I continue enjoy watching. ❤ Boom! Tetris for you in 2024 & the future years to come, cheers. 🎉
Also Marc, the first player to beat 19-5 B-Type.
Also Jeff, and his neck
I think, it's not so much about the location, but more about the time of the year that each expo is happening, as the summer timing will be much better for the ability for players to actually make it to the event (most of whom happen to be students).
problem is it's during finals for most non US students
@@HeyoNight it was during school year for everyone when it was done in October... I dunno, just throwing other aspects to this venue change. Regardless of what they change it to, somebody is not going to be happy.
I had a great time watching CTWC in Portland, and I hope that Pasadena offers an even better experience for competitors and spectators.
Damn. Just discovering the CTWC and I'm completely blown away. So happy it was in my hometown of Portland because I could go next year but it looks like I missed the boat! I'll be watching online for sure!
Y’all should bring back the TGM1 race side event!
Oh man I live right next to Pasadena! Hell yeah brother!
I miss him ❤, but did anyone noticed they chose the pic of Jonas where he’s covering the trophy’s year Bcs of how long we remained the champ for 😂 (prob a coincidence but I liked that detail)
OOO JONAS DESCANSA EN PAZ😢
Koryan and the GOAT Jonas were the reason i got in CTWC and will forever miss Jonas. He was a very humble player and his old school style made him stand out from the rest. RiP borther and let God win a couple games will ya.
Pasadena is only about a 2HR 30M drive from where I live. This is great! I'm definitely raring to go!
I was planning on attending this year in Portland, just as a spectator, but now that it has moved up in the year I'll be working in AK when it is happening. Good luck to all.
Very excited! Aww Jonas at the end, what a guy!
If there are two commentators, can you each mainly commentate on one player each? Its very strange when you completely miss a tetris or good move from one player but go mad over the other. It would make a nice back and forth dynamic, perhaps almost like the commentators are also competing. Would be cool.
Goodbye, Portland. Maybe there would be at least a qualifier held there in the future! 1 more LYMYMI for Jonas himself...
there is planned to be a regional there this year
Steve
Dang it! Now I have to travel? LUL It was so much easier for you guys to come to Portland but I get it. Hopefully the new spot is better. I'll see if I can still make it out.
Let's go!
Honestly, this event needed to be moved so I'm glad to see this happen.
Matt
holy moly!
No Way!
This year ctwc gonna be insane

SUMMER CTWC 🎉🎉🎉

LETS GOOOO ❤
Even though "CTWC in Portland" is a tradition, I'm glad that we're actually moving. Maybe this could be the first step towards moving the CTWC finals outside of the US?
but US is center of the world -americans
@@matheuscabral9618 yes, but we should also consider the fact that having the event hosted in the US forever discourages players from regions like Southeast Asia where registering for US visa is a pain (remember that Nenu qualified for top 8 in both 2020 and 2021 when CTWC was online but was never seen again in CTWC since)
If one of us Europeans win we will try and get 2025 to be hosted in Europe 😅
Moving all of the crts, wires, consoles, etc would be a pain in the ass if it was a different country (it's already a lot of work in the first place)
@@coalbucket9383 yeah, I'd agree with your point. Though, if so, then I wonder if the CRTs are being moved from Portland or we're having a new set of CRTs there?
SHEESH
Will the finals be on Sunday June 9th?
Yes
Will it be broadcasted?
of course
Well this was unexpected to say the least. Now I don't have as much time to practice and get better. Guess gold bracket will have to wait until 2025
0:38 yoshis :D
Shame. CTWC was a major reason I went to PRGE. Don't think I can attend down in LA. I hope the streaming setup down there will be better.
Pasadena isn't LA....but I feel ya. DT LA is not awesome.
Im there
Home court advantage! That's not going to mean much.
Bruh I live in Portland
now you know how people from LA felt, and hopefully be able to empathize with decades of suffering they had to go through...
Wow really... I dont understand why it was moved.
I think, it's not so much about the location, but more about the time of the year that each expo is happening, as the summer timing will be much better for the ability for players to actually make it to the event (most of whom happen to be students)
There's a new team organizing the tournament.
Most of the main staff live in Southern California
June???
I'm surprised too. Thought it always was in october-november.
Game Crash in CTWC??
literally impossible due to the super killscreen's existence
@@Bowling4986technically it’s possible
@@defaultusername1145 no it isnt
@@Heppsxd just get O pieces like 10000 times in a row and you will reach a crash with forever viable moves
Statistically impossible but not literally impossible
@@defaultusername1145 no, it's literally impossible to crash the game before level 155 (or so the resident expert on the game's code in the community says), far after the super killscreen comes into play
Whats with the stuffed animals?
at the end you didnt show bluescuti
Because he's not a CTWC winner
@@TTarragon well he beat other people at the championship
They didn't show Abraham Lincoln either smh
Interesting, but we are uplifting our consiousness in this world, then you will see glitches in this real world. 😀that is my game!
mad for what reason
Richard
tetris long bar drought of 2024 😢
L tbh
since jonas has passed away tetris became a big L all because of rolling. the matches take way to long now
womp womp

How dare you? How absolutely dare you?

Worst take i've seen all year
In the past, when Tetris was played by cool guys like Jonas, Jeff, or the Korean, it was kind of fun. But later, when kids started playing, it turned into a children's sport and lost its appeal. I'm sorry, but I stopped watching it; it ceased to be cool and interesting.
