Here is my personal theory: Rockstar themselves said that “Red dead revolver takes place in a different universe.” *BUT* Red dead revolver is told from the perspective of the sheriff, meaning that certain events could be over exaggeration or legend. For example, the over the top death of red Harlow‘s parents murderer. Maybe his arm didn’t come clean off, maybe he just got shot and died. This is most likely the sheriff over exaggerating events. So while the events in the game are legend, and most of it likely didn’t happen. Uncle probably was Red Harlow, and the events probably got mixed between real life and fiction thanks to the sheriff. So in conclusion Uncle was Red Harlow. But most of red dead revolver was just fantasy/legend.

As time went on, civilization began to settle in, and the gang, now fully formed, was focusing less on robberies and more on survival and Red's skills had waned a bit with age. Hosea and Dutch couldn't just leave him behind, and so he remained as more of a elderly mentor figure in the gang and the others began addressing him as "Uncle".

I feel like he's not red Harlow only because of the timeline. Uncle looks like that in 1899, and red dead revolver takes place in the 1880s. That doesn't mean he's not him, but that would mean that uncle ages like cheese
Devs really should've gone full hog with the idea that Uncle is Red. Like having that wrap always around his hand, or slightly more references in random conversations.

I think that Uncle having no burn marks makes more sense because severe third-degree burns can take at most a few years to heal completely, if he had his burn mark when he was a child then it's unlikely he'll have it when he's already an old man by RDR2

Wasnt Revolver seen as a legend/folk story within Redemption as its played as a story and the reason why all the details wont match is because its not Harlow telling the story but its rather someone in that game rettelling it as a story within redemption

Red was in his early teens when he lost his parents. Its also been confirmed by Rockstar that Red does not exist in the Redemption universe
Uncle's parents died years apart from when red parents died, he doesn't have a huge burn mark on his hand, he doesn't have any of the scars red has on his face, he has a completely different facial structure, it's been confirmed that revolver and redemption are separate universes
