I can't help but feel all your suggestions would make the game feel like COD, which would be an awful feeling CS2 has it's own identity and would stray away from that. What would have been good to see on the list is an alternative pistol to the glock (as the CT has the P2000 and UPS) as well as the SCAR to allow an other option to the AK-47. A new SMG would be nice for both teams lying somewhere between the P90 and UMP in terms of cost and damage. As well as an alternative Heavy machine gun, something to bridge the gap between the Negev and the M249, no one buys the M249 so an alternative would be nice. For the last pick would be a new granade, acting like a smoke but you'd receive small amounts of chemical damage, cheaper than a molotov but has less damage and a smaller uptime duration than the smoke.
I actually love all of these suggestions. I definitely don’t want the game to feel like COD but I do think some weapons from games like COD should be in the game. I feel like a huge update will come this year that will shock us. I appreciate your input!
the only problem I see with these weapons is that it doesn't fit the theme. for example the terrorists have weapons that terrorist would likely use in real life and the counter terrorist also have realistic weapon choices.
Sounds dumb but is honestly the right way to go about making changes to CS. CS is a game that hasn't even changed that much in 20 years, and needs to be a fairly static platform for high level eSports to take place in. This isn't fortnite where the maps need to break apart and some new gimmick is added every 6 months. I don't envy valve with trying to make CS feel fresh whilst also keeping the same gameplay they've had since the 1990s. That's one difficult task, and surprisingly CS2's graphics, smoke grenade and elo system overhauls didn't do that much to make the game feel fresh. Me and some buddies have played CS for 7-8 years now and it's never felt as stale as right now surprisingly. They all are taking a break from the game. From what we know about what Valve are adding I think they'll be pretty successful at making the game feel fresh. I think they said they are reimagining Danger Zone gamemode, and I think that's the right approach. Don't mess with competitive that much, but add more stuff to the game outside of it. And new maps. Though with the new loadout system I reckon we'll get some new guns soon too. Time will tell, but this video is kind of right, in CS updates. Less is more. Players will be rioting if valve add a new gun that becomes the new meta. Remember the R8 revolver, or the Aug/SG553 meta. The aug meta started from literally a $200 price decrease or something like that. Small changes have a big impact on CS so the updates to make the game feel fresh counter intuitively need to "not add a lot to the game"
I think you might be right. I enjoyed those game modes such as danger zone and wingman. I'd even enjoy a 3v3 or 4v4 game mode to play with your friends without having to queue into a competitive lobby with randoms.
@@thethirdpigeon yeah I played the hell out of danger zone, swear I had 200+ wins on there lol. And quite liked flying Scotsman and arms race too. Also play more wingman than I do 5v5. I think it's these extra game modes to play and mix it up from 5v5 that will help the game a lot. I'm reminded of playing COD or Destiny where you play death match/crucible for the standard PVP game mode, but in COD you can play zombies to mix it up and in Destiny you can do a PVE mission to mix it up. CSGO was never great at that even when it had dangerzone and other game modes, COD and Destiny always did it better. But I think it would be cool if they go that route and invest more into other game modes. And from what they said about reimagining danger zone it looks to be what they plan on doing.

@@thethirdpigeon Fingers crossed :D I heard that valve are on Christmas holiday and have mostly been bug fixing ready for the Major. So I don't know how much content they really have coming in the near future. Plus they usually wait until after the Major to make big changes. So I'd expect a sizable update and an operation in like April 2024 after the major. But would be great if it was sooner.
@@thethirdpigeon cause this game isn’t about flash, it’s about gun play and strategy, each team has one good rifle both with its advantages and flaws, and the key is to master them, and if you can’t afford them you have one eco rifle, or you can use an smg, the basic meta of game has remained unchanged for over 20 years for a good reason, cause it’s a good formula and the game would lose its character otherwise, even the game mechanics and spray patterns have stayed the same this whole time, only the movement has been slightly edited because some features were being abused and the mac10 and mp9 were made usable as well as the pistols, so that now you can actually win an eco round if you play it right while earlier it was a rarity, as well as the grenade physics somewhat, what needs to be improved now is the movement, it could be a little less clunky and sluggish, and the server tick rates and net code needs to be as good as it can be, because now the game feels a bit weird, they shouldn’t have touched CSGO tbh, except for maybe the smokes
